The screen was glitching with static, but she recognized that silhouette—
white hair, black dress, the oppressive aura of space warping around her.
The Herrscher of the Void.
"How… how could she be here…?"
Her voice trembled.
She had met that girl.
I talked to her.
I walked past her in the corridor of the building.
Jackal felt cold sweat trickle down her back.
Ten years ago, the Second Eruption had nearly wiped entire nations off the map.
Everyone knew what the Second Herrscher—the Herrscher of the Void—was capable of.
No wonder the Honkai readings were so strange tonight.
She swallowed hard.
If the Herrscher of the Void was awake again…
She had no choice.
It was time to disturb the Overseer.
"Reunite with me, my other half."
Kiana—no, the Herrscher—slowly turned toward Mei, who was sitting on the ground, bruised and trembling.
Her golden eyes shone with hunger.
Expectation.
"With you, my conquest is complete.
Come, Mei… we were always meant to be one."
To the Herrscher, Mei was nothing more than a vessel—a missing piece of herself.
And once reunited, she would regain her throne, purge humanity, and extinguish the indignity of having been defeated in Siberia…
Especially by that bizarre, loudmouthed human girl she kept running into.
She would absolutely take revenge for that.
"Ki… Kiana…" Mei whispered, shaking with guilt.
She had failed again.
Failed to stop Kiana from falling.
Failed to protect her.
I have to wake her up… no matter what.
Her hands curled into fists.
Even if she had to use her Herrscher powers—
even if it consumed her—
she couldn't lose Kiana again.
Just as she lifted her trembling arm—
CLANG—!
A faint, mint-green spear struck the ground between her and the Herrscher.
"Who's there?!"
Void Kiana snapped, startled.
She hadn't sensed anyone approaching.
"You said you're the embodiment of Honkai?"
A transparent hand wrapped around the embedded spear.
A moment later, a girl materialized from thin air, pulling it free with a casual tug.
Wendy twirled the spear like a baton.
"I wasn't planning to get involved…" she said lazily, eyes narrowing in interest.
"But you said you're the 'embodiment of Honkai.'
So Wendy wants to see just how impressive you really are~"
Void Kiana stiffened.
"A… fellow Herrscher? You're a Herrscher too?"
She narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
"Tell me—are you another traitor? Like that other one who is siding with humans?"
Wendy raised a brow.
"'God'? I think your 'god' and my 'god' aren't the same thing~"
She grinned.
"Anyway, come on. Show Wendy something fun."
The truth was simpler:
Wendy simply refused to let anyone interrupt the humans fetching her ice cream.
Absolutely not.
This was sacred.
The Herrscher of the Void Strikes First
"Tch… arrogant."
Void Kiana lifted her hand.
Dozens of Subspace Spears shot from the cracks in reality, all targeting Wendy.
"Let's see how long your attitude lasts."
But in the next instant—
"Missed me~ missed me~!"
Wendy zipped around the sky like a drifting leaf.
The spears couldn't even track her, let alone hit her.
Void Kiana's eyelid twitched.
Fast.
Far too fast.
But she wasn't worried.
Speed meant nothing to the Herrscher of Space.
"Stop."
She snapped her fingers, and rifts tore open in front of Wendy.
A massive, pale-white spatial claw lunged out and clamped shut around her, dragging her inside.
Void Kiana smirked.
"Caught you, you little bug—"
BOOM—!!!
A shockwave slammed into her chest, hurling her through the air like a rag doll.
She crashed head-first into the wall of a distant skyscraper.
"Ghhh—!"
She teleported away instantly, gasping for breath.
What… was that?
She stared wide-eyed at the rubble.
Did that girl… counterattack from inside the spatial trap?
Impossible.
Her mind spun.
Her Honkai output was more than double the other girl's.
Yet somehow—
"Looking for me, teammate~?"
A teasing voice whispered behind her ear.
Void Kiana froze.
She turned.
Wendy stood there, smiling like she was greeting a stray cat.
"It was you…?"
Void Kiana whispered, horrified.
How?
HOW?!
Wendy barely had any Honkai energy compared to her.
But the raw power—
the physical strength—
the control—
the speed—
It dwarfed her own.
Nothing made sense.
"Don't panic, okay?" Wendy said cheerfully.
"You'll ruin your cute face~"
Void Kiana's face contorted.
"You—!"
She summoned every spear, every spatial crack she could, unleashing a storm of chaos toward Wendy—
FWOOOOOSH—
A single gust of wind blew them all away.
Wendy didn't even move.
The air around her twisted like a hurricane made of steel.
Void Kiana opened her mouth—
The space in front of her suddenly cracked.
Not a normal spatial rift—
Actual cracks.
Like shattered glass.
Her own domain—
the void she controlled—
was breaking.
Breaking.
Wendy stepped through the fractured void with a sweet little smile.
"I'm done warming up."
Void Kiana's blood ran cold.
"She… she's a demon—
a demon—!!"
She couldn't fight this thing.
She couldn't even run.
She needed out.
Now.
I-I need the human—give me back the body, give me back the body—!
Her knees buckled.
And then—
THUD.
Kiana collapsed unconscious on the pavement.
"KIANA!!"
Mei rushed over to catch her.
Wendy stretched her arms above her head.
"You guys hurry up, okay?
Wendy still wants her ice cream~"
And with that, she vanished into the night sky.
