CIRCE
I stepped into the room, and all eyes zeroed in on me as I took my seat for the meeting.
"We would prefer you remained standing." Alpha Eon split the silence of the room with a voice that was louder than it needed to be.
I felt my stomach lurch as I stared at him and then at the other members present, but no one spoke against his disrespect.
I swallowed but kept my head up. "And why should I stand when you all are seated?" I asked; my voice miraculously was not shaking.
Luna Noelle's lips curled with distaste. "You cannot be this clueless."
"I am not," I returned sharply.
"Yet you require that it be spelled out for you?" Beta Marcus asked.
"I do not appreciate your sarcasm," I snapped.
"What you appreciate has no bearing on this council," Alpha Kade interjected smoothly, his face all too smug for my liking. "Since you are on trial." He said, leaning forward and steepling his fingers in front of him. "We would prefer you remain standing."
