"Holy hell!" I shrieked, clinging to Raya's scales. "They're shooting at us! I repeat, shooting at us!"
Coffi and Latte were pressed into my sides like human burritos, their faces white as snow. "I hate this…I did not sign up for this, my lady."
"Stop being weak, Coffi," I scoffed.
Chubby, perched on my shoulder, leaned forward, glaring at me with those shadowy little eyes. "Master… we're under attack. Do something!"
"Do what, Chubby?! I can barely stay on this flying beast without becoming an airborne snack!" I yelled back, spittle flying as Raya dove sharply, sending us careening toward the icy waters below.
Raya roared, flames shooting from her mouths, sizzling arrows and spears midair. Snow and shards of ice rained around us like confetti from some apocalyptic parade. Ice People screamed, half naked, their elegant vampire faces twisted in anger, flinging rune magic, swirling mana, and—was that—yes, ice daggers the size of my torso.
