Elisa woke up different that morning. Her body was still the same, but something inside her seemed slightly out of rhythm. The smell of coffee, always comforting, suddenly caused nausea. And that light dizziness when climbing the stairs to her office... it wasn't fatigue. It was something familiar, at least to her, as a doctor.
She left her lab coat hanging and went home early. On the way, her heart beat rapidly. She denied the possibility, but deep down, a silent intuition screamed.
In the bathroom at home, the hastily purchased pregnancy test trembled in her hands.
She had never taken one before.
She sat on the edge of the bathtub, eyes fixed on the display. Time seemed to drag each second like an eternity.
First line.
Okay... normal.
Second line.
Faint... but visible.
