Riven stirred on the bed as he tried – and failed- to sit up properly, looking at his body his wounds were healed but the throbbing pain didn't.
"I feel like sh*t." he said as he lay back with a groan.
"That actually makes me feels better." A voice sneered from the side and turning his head he saw the last person he wanted to meet.
"Why am I in here with you?" the Werewolf scowled.
"That's what I should be asking you, sh*tface." Lucian retorted.
Riven glared at the Vampire. "Want me to bash in that fowl mouth of yours."
"Ha! I'd like to see you try!"
"Gladly."
The two glared at each other and tried to get up but their bodies could only tremble in places. Eventually, they gave up the attempt and turned away from each other.
This guy is such an a**hole!
Riven peeked at the other from behind his shoulder and saw the bandage that wrapped it, seeing this made him feel a pan of regret even if it was for a prick like Lucian.
"I'm sorry about the whole losing it thing…It wasn't really 'ideal'." he murmured under his breath.
"Tch, you'd better be…" Lucian said as he pointed to his patched shoulder. "Do you have any idea how long it takes to heal from a Werewolf bite?"
Riven couldn't help but feel a vein bulge on his forehead "Oh suck it up…You weren't the one who was busying facing their inner demons and getting pulverized, weren't you?"
"You think I'd care? I would give ANYTHING to beat you like that again."
"Oh. Really? Do you mind saying that a bit closer to me…were my fists can reach your face."
"Bring it mutt!"
Once more they both couldn't get up and just turned away from each other again.
"Well it's nice to see you two in good spirits." A voice jeered
Riven turned to see Azrael as well as the other coming through the door, they also had a few small bandages to patch up some minor scratches but the sight of his classmates made him crack a big smile.
"Ah…Don't mind that…This mosquito here was just being a pain." He said pointing over his head to Lucian, who looked like he was about to burst.
"MOSQUITO!" The Vampire seethed. "That's IT! I'm gonna-"
"It's best you'd drop it Lucian, you can't even stand up properly." Cyrus stated calmly as the boy clicked his tongue with an annoyed look on his face.
"But why are you guys here anyways?" Riven asked the obvious
"We heard you two went way overboard in your fight." Azrael replied.
"And…And-we wanted…to check if y-you were okay." Runa softly added fidgeting with her fingers.
"Aww, You guys are the best." Riven said as he gave a wide grin.
Harumi, who was leaned against a window at the far end, gave him a sharp look "Don't let it get to your head too much, idiot. You were the one who's responsible for everything."
The comment seemed to dampen the Werewolf good mood instantly. "Right, I got it."
Then the door swung wide again and two figures stepped into the room.
"Easy guys, be sure to give our patients some breathing space…I just finished their treatment" A female voice chirped in.
Riven's eyes went wide as he recognized the woman who had stepped in. "Y-You."
"Long time no see kiddo." Luna winked at him as Kairo leaned by the doorframe.
"You're a nurse here? I thought you were a scientist?" Riven asked blinking at the woman.
The woman gave a small laugh. "Well…technically, I'm the Head of Research and all that but sometimes I also free to do some other small task.
"Which involves patching up banged up students such as yourselves."
Hearing this Riven's cheeks couldn't help but turn slightly red from embarrassment.
"Anyways," Luna continued. "You two should be thankful that Kairo had stepped in at the right time unless the situation might have gotten way worse than it already was."
"Define 'worse'?" Lucian asked.
"Let's just say one of you two might not be getting up for thee weeks or so." The scientist replied giving a small nervous chuckle.
Those words instantly sent shivers down the Vampire's spine, he knew exactly how good a Mythic's healing factor was and if an injury caused one to be down for weeks…it was no joking matter.
And the way the scientist was slightly looking at a certain individual made him a bit uneasy.
"I know she's talking about me…be could that have been the case?" Lucian thought as he side-eyed the Werewolf. "Tch, next time we face off, you won't be so lucky next time."
"However, I'd suggest you two should take a day off or two from training to truly be in peak condition." Luna concluded.
"Speaking of training…" Azrael spoke as he turned his head at their teacher who still hasn't said a single word since he had arrived. "When are you going to announce the winners, I mean the game has ended, hasn't it?"
The older Werewolf turned to gaze at him for a few moments before pushing himself off the doorframe and walking to the center of the room with both hands tucked in his pockets.
"You are correct…The game has ended and now it's time to announce the winners…First off, going through the performance of both teams the ones with the highest flag count was the Blue team who were able to gather a total of 12 flags."
Azrael swiftly turned his head towards Harumi as she leaned a bit closer to the window twirling her hair with a finger.
"Heh, guess you'd managed to break out of that prison and get more flags than me huh?" The poltergeist smirked to himself as he was truly impressed that Harumi must have gotten more flags with such short time after their encounter
However, the next words that everyone heard was quite unexpected.
"All of which is courtesy of Lucian getting a total of seven flags." Kairo added, which made every student – even the shy Runa – turn their head towards the said individual.
"Y-You've got to be kidding me right?" Cyrus gaped as he clearly didn't except that Lucian, of all people, would be able to rank up that many.
"What are you all staring at…Did you think I was just running around doing nothing?!" Lucian snapped at the others who continued to stare at him like he was an alien. "
"This has to be some kind of joke." Azrael claimed calmly as he glanced at Kairo, who was more or less expressionless.
The male decided to ignore the shocked students and continued. "Due to their win, the Blue team will be awarded with a total of 900 points credited within themselves.
"Also, the Red team will receive a sum of 100 points each as a reward for their efforts."
The teenagers were all over the moon, they were already running low on credits after buying so much in the school and needed to find a way to top-up.
Sure for some it wasn't much, but half loaf is better than none at all.
"Now that that's out of the way, I'll be announcing your individual scores…Now Azrael, you'd managed to score a total of 85 points for your performance so far and Harumi got a 79.
"Cyrus was supposed to score an 80 but due to constantly underestimating an opponent, I brought it down to a 72. Runa got a 75 due to her commendable persistence…and now, it's time for you two."
Kairo's eyes narrowed when he turned to face both boys which were still on their beds, making them gulp in unison.
"You two were not only were you two reckless and undisciplined in your actions, you two were involved in a near death fight and one of you lost control! Do you have any idea how much of a danger you two would have been if others were nearby?"
This was the first time they had heard Kairo scold anyone like this but they couldn't tell whether he was being genuine about his feelings or just being professional about it.
Either way, Riven felt a bad about the whole thing and lowered his head. "S-Sorry."
The older Werewolf sighed before shifting his gaze at the other. "And what do you have to say for yourself?"
"ME?!" Lucian practically roared. "I wasn't the one who went on a rampage! If anything, I shouldn't even be to blame for this whole thing!"
"But you were the one who engaged the fight, or am I wrong?" Kairo said, his voice dropping an octave.
The Vampire went silent at once before clicking his tongue and looked away.
"Anyways, due to your actions, you both received a score of 11."
The younger Werewolf felt his heart sink immediately after hearing those words…he was just 2 points away from training with the other Werewolf and quite certainly not surviving it either.
And when looking at Lucian, he saw the same horrified expression written on his face.
"So does that mean that mean that they are getting punished?" Runa asked
"Correct." Kairo stated as he brought out two small metallic like chokers from his pockets. "These are Gravity Shackles, they'll increase your weight by 50% and you both will wear it for the next one week."
"Wait? One week?!" Riven exclaimed.
"Yes, one week, 24/7." Kairo finished.
Once again, the two boys had horror written all over them as Riven fell back on his pillow.
"This is definitely how I'm going to die."
