A huge man with a pipe between his teeth, golden braids, and two thin mustaches complained lazily.
This was Queen the Plague, one of the All-Stars of the Beasts Pirates — and he was clearly in a bad mood.
The man he was griping at was a tall, handsome youth with black hair and dark eyes — his refined looks were a rarity among the Beasts Pirates, whose members usually looked… unconventional, to say the least.
This man's name was Luo Xing.
"Cut the chatter," Luo Xing said flatly. "Open my lab. I'll show you something worth seeing today."
Queen's eyebrows lifted.
"Show me something? Don't tell me you've invented another 'self-tightening bra' or one of those bust-enhancing contraptions again, huh?"
"Get lost!"
Luo Xing kicked him, but Queen didn't even flinch — his grin stayed plastered on that smug face of his.
After all, as the user of the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Ancient Model: Brachiosaurus, and with a bounty of 1.32 billion berries, this little kick meant less than nothing to him.
The two entered a lab filled with strange machines.
Queen glanced around, curiosity getting the better of him.
"So what are all these gadgets, Son-in-law? I'm a scientist too, you know — but I can't make heads or tails of this stuff."
Of course you can't, Luo Xing thought. These things shouldn't even exist in this world.
Because Luo Xing wasn't a man born of this sea — he was a transmigrant.
A stray spark from cigarette ash on his keyboard had somehow zapped him straight into the world of One Piece.
And, somehow even more ridiculously, not long after his arrival he'd ended up engaged to Yamato, the daughter of one of the Four Emperors, Kaido — making him the Beasts Pirates' official son-in-law.
Nearly two years had passed since then.
The fear and confusion of his early days were long gone; now, Luo Xing could even joke casually with the Three Calamities like an old friend.
And over time, he'd learned why Kaido had chosen him of all people to be his daughter's husband.
The reason, as always, lay with Yamato — Kaido's rebellious and eccentric child.
Years ago, when Kaido executed Kozuki Oden, young Yamato had witnessed it.
From that day, she'd come to idolize Oden.
Later, she stumbled upon his journal — and that admiration turned into obsession.
She began calling herself Kozuki Oden, declaring she'd overthrow her own father and free Wano from his rule.
Poor Kaido — the so-called "Strongest Creature in the World," the Emperor who once treated Marine captures like restaurant visits — had somehow ended up with that for a daughter.
It was absurd enough to make anyone laugh.
Kaido tried to beat some sense into her countless times, but Yamato never wavered.
Desperate, Kaido turned to Queen, whose bad ideas were second only to his big mouth.
"Boss," Queen had said, "you've raised Lord Yamato like a son, but at the end of the day she's a woman. Once a woman has a family — maybe even a child — she'll change. Trust me!"
Kaido hadn't been convinced.
Big Mom had dozens of kids and didn't change a bit, he thought.
But having no better options, he decided to try anyway.
That's how Luo Xing became Kaido's son-in-law — the Prince Consort of the Beasts Pirates.
Before Luo Xing, Kaido had captured over a dozen handsome men to marry off to Yamato, but she'd ignored every one of them.
Then Luo Xing appeared — and Yamato was smitten at first sight.
Apparently, she wasn't just a fool obsessed with Oden's diary — she was also a hopeless romantic.
Thinking of Yamato now, Luo Xing's lips curved faintly.
She was beautiful, strong, and full of passion — truly flawless.
The only thing he disliked was her old obsession with Kozuki Oden.
Oden… a man with great strength, loyal followers, and even the backing of legends like Whitebeard and Gol D. Roger, yet he'd still lost everything — his life, his country, his family — all because of his own stupidity.
What a waste of talent.
Luo Xing couldn't stand the idea that his woman once worshipped a fool like that.
So, over the years, he'd gently reshaped Yamato's beliefs — subtly pointing out Oden's flaws.
At first, she refused to hear it. But as she thought deeper, she began to realize he was right.
Oden's downfall — and the tragedy of the Kozuki Clan — stemmed largely from Oden's own foolishness.
"No wonder they called him 'the Foolish Lord'... I actually admired him all those years?"
Once Yamato saw the truth, she couldn't even look back at her former self.
Without hesitation, she wiped all thoughts of Oden from her mind.
Now, there was only Luo Xing in her heart.
As for Kaido? …Who's that again?
Though marriage had indeed changed her — just as Queen predicted — her resentment toward her father remained the same.
"Hey, Son-in-law! You spacing out again?"
Queen's loud voice snapped Luo Xing back to reality.
"Nothing," he said casually.
He stepped up to a device, flipped open the cover, and retrieved a strange piece of purple flesh, pulsing faintly like it was alive.
"The Mutant Cell… it worked," he murmured, excitement flashing in his eyes.
When he'd first arrived in this world, he'd awakened the Great Inventor System — a cheat that allowed him to create extraordinary inventions.
Until now, the system's level was too low, letting him make only trivial things like self-adjusting underwear or cup-enhancing garments.
But yesterday, it had finally leveled up to Lv.2, unlocking a new invention: Mutant Cells — a substance capable of altering human biology and drastically boosting power.
Queen eyed the purple lump skeptically.
"What's that? A bomb? Poison? Food?"
"None of the above," Luo Xing said. "These cells can enhance a person's strength."
"Enhance strength?"
Queen blinked, then laughed, shaking his head. "C'mon, don't tell me that hunk of meat can do what a Devil Fruit does."
In this world, only Devil Fruits could grant power from nothing.
Could Luo Xing's strange invention rival that? Impossible.
Seeing Queen's disbelief, Luo Xing only smiled.
"You'll understand soon enough," he said, eyes gleaming. "I'll show you what this thing can really do."
