I didn't decide to do it.
That was the thing about Alpha aura — the controlled kind you pushed deliberately, the kind you used in council meetings and border negotiations, that was a choice. What happened at that dinner table was not a choice. It came out the way a reflex came out, bypassing the part of my brain that made decisions entirely, straight from whatever Adam was doing under my skin directly into the room.
Silver's words landed and Adam was simply there, suddenly and completely, pressing through every surface I had with the particular fury of a wolf who had been watching something circle his mate for weeks and had run out of patience for it at the exact wrong moment.
