Chapter 52 - Shopping time

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but you might actually be worse than Mitsuri when it comes to shopping for pets."

Sanemi shot him a glare, but couldn't deny it. "Shut up, snake boy. This is important cat preparation." Giyuu leaned closer to Sanemi, speaking softly. "Admit it - you're having fun. Who knew you were such a cat enthusiast?" Sanemi huffed and crossed his arms defensively. "I'm not having fun. I'm just... ensuring we get everything we need." Mitsuri grabbed a few more toys, including a laser pointer and a feather wand.

"And what about these? We can't forget the essential playtime equipment!" Sanemi immediately perked up at the mention of toys. "Okay, maybe just a few more..." Mitsuri started showing Sanemi the different types of cat toys, getting more and more excited.

"Look at this one! It makes a funny squeaky sound when you squeeze it." Sanemi picked up a catnip-filled mouse, examining it with fascination.

"This one's good... and this one too..." Giyuu watched with amusement as Sanemi became completely absorbed in the toy selection. "I think we might need to get a bigger bag. Our cat's going to have quite the collection." Mitsuri added the toys to the growing pile in the cart. "We're going to spoil our cat rotten! Just like we're spoiling Sanemi." Sanemi shot her a look but didn't deny it.

"I'm not spoiled. I'm... invested in proper cat ownership." Obanai smirked, taking out his phone to snap a picture of Sanemi surrounded by cat toys. "Sure you are. And I'm the emperor of Japan." Sanemi noticed Obanai taking pictures and made a threatening gesture. "Delete that right now, or I'll show everyone the photo of you crying during that horror movie." Obanai quickly put his phone away, looking slightly panicked. "You wouldn't dare." Giyuu chuckled and wrapped an arm around Sanemi's waist.

"He totally would. Besides, it's cute how excited he is about all this." Sanemi tried to maintain his tough facade, but couldn't help leaning slightly into Giyuu's touch.

"I'm not cute. I'm intimidating. Remember that time I broke that guy's nose?" Mitsuri giggled, clearly not intimidated. "You're intimidating when you want to be, but right now you're just a big softie." Sanemi growled playfully at her, though there was no real anger in it.

"Watch it, Kanroji. I still have those embarrassing photos of you from last summer camp." Mitsuri gasped dramatically, clutching her chest. "You wouldn't! Those photos are sacred!" Sanemi smirked, enjoying the moment. "Try me. Now, are we done shopping or what? The cat won't adopt itself." Giyuu gave Sanemi a knowing look.

"You're just eager to get home and start setting everything up." Mitsuri's eyes widened with panic as she glanced between Sanemi and Obanai.

"Wait, what photos? There are no photos! Right, Sanemi?" Sanemi's smirk grew wider as he noticed Mitsuri's distress. "Oh, just some interesting ones from when she got stuck in that tree during the scavenger hunt." Obanai perked up with interest, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"Do tell more, Sanemi. I'm suddenly very interested in these photos." Mitsuri frantically tried to change the subject, her face turning red. "We should get ice cream after this! Who wants ice cream?" Sanemi chuckled and shook his head. "Nice try, but no distractions. The photos show our dear Mitsuri-" She lunged forward to cover Sanemi's mouth, nearly knocking over a display of cat treats. "No! No photos! They're embarrassing!"

Obanai stepped closer, a devilish grin spreading across his face.

"Now I definitely want to see them." Sanemi pulled out his phone with a triumphant grin, scrolling through his camera roll. "Well, since you asked so nicely..." He showed Obanai a photo of Mitsuri hanging upside down from a tree branch, her face covered in mud and leaves. "This was right after she fell. And here's the moment she got stuck-" Mitsuri made a desperate grab for Sanemi's phone, but he held it high above her head.

"Sanemi! Delete those immediately! I'll never forgive you!" Sanemi pulled out his phone with a triumphant grin, scrolling through his camera roll. "Well, since you asked so nicely..." He showed Obanai a photo of Mitsuri hanging upside down from a tree branch, her face covered in mud and leaves. "This was right after she fell. "Sanemi! Delete those immediately! I'll never forgive you!" Obanai burst out laughing, clutching his stomach as he looked at the photos. "Oh my god, this is gold! I can't believe you actually kept these!" Sanemi was thoroughly enjoying Mitsuri's mortification, still holding the phone out of reach. "Of course I kept them. They're priceless." Mitsuri turned to Giyuu with pleading eyes. "Giyuu! Help me! You can't let him do this!" Giyuu shrugged, trying to hide his amusement.

"Sorry Mitsuri, but this is too good. Plus, you did break my favorite fan that day." Mitsuri gasped in betrayal, looking between Giyuu and Sanemi. "That fan was an accident! And you're supposed to be my friend!" Sanemi grinned wickedly, showing Obanai another photo of Mitsuri tangled in branches. "Should we make these our wallpaper? I think they deserve more exposure." Obanai nodded enthusiastically, still chuckling.

"Definitely. We should print them and put them up around campus too." Obanai moved quickly, wrapping his arms around Mitsuri to prevent her from attacking Sanemi. "Gotcha! No escaping now, Mitsuri." Mitsuri struggled against Obanai's grip, her face red with embarrassment and anger.

"Let me go! I'll get you both for this!" Sanemi continued scrolling through the photos, occasionally showing them to Giyuu with a smirk.
