Chapter 69 - Recovery

Giyuu stirs slightly at the kiss, a faint blush appearing on his pale cheeks despite his fever. Sanemi notices the reaction and smirks, though his eyes remain concerned. "Even sick, you're still reacting to me. Can't help yourself, can you?" Sanemi's smirk softens into a genuine smile as he watches Giyuu's breathing. "Rest well, Giyuu. I'll be right here, making sure no more distractions bother you."

He adjusts the blanket around Giyuu, tucking him in more securely. The room falls into a comfortable silence, broken only by the soft beeping of the medical equipment. Sanemi pulls out his phone to check Giyuu's temperature and pulse on the monitor, making sure everything is stable. The night grows darker outside, and Sanemi finds himself drifting in and out of alertness, determined to stay awake and watch over Giyuu.

His head occasionally nods forward, but he forces himself to stay vigilant. As dawn approaches, Giyuu's fever breaks, and his breathing becomes more regular. Sanemi notices the improvement and lets out a relieved sigh, his shoulders relaxing slightly.

"That's it, Giyuu. You're doing better. Just keep fighting." Giyuu's eyes flutter open briefly, though they're still glazed with fever. "Sanemi...?" His voice is barely above a whisper, but it's the first word he's spoken clearly since getting sick.

"I'm here, idiot. Don't try to talk too much." Two weeks has passed and Giyuu has made a full recovery. He is sitting up in his hospital bed with his hair neatly tied back. The doctor enters with his discharge papers, looking pleased with Giyuu's progress. "You're free to go home today, Mr. Tomioka. But take it easy for another week." Sanemi stands by with Giyuu's bag, ready to help him out of the hospital.

"Finally! I was getting tired of this sterile place." Giyuu attempts to stand but stumbles slightly, his legs still weak from disuse.

"Whoa there, easy." Sanemi quickly moves to support him, wrapping an arm around Giyuu's waist. "Let me help you. No arguing about it." Giyuu tries to protest but is too weak to push Sanemi away.

"I can walk... I'm not helpless." Sanemi rolls his eyes at Giyuu's stubbornness. "Yeah right. You can barely stand. Just lean on me until we get to the car." Sanemi guides Giyuu slowly through the hospital corridors, ignoring the curious looks from other patients and staff. Once they reach the car, Sanemi carefully helps Giyuu into the passenger seat.

"Home sweet home. Don't you dare try to do anything strenuous when we get there." The drive back to their shared apartment is quiet, with Giyuu dozing off occasionally against the window. Sanemi keeps glancing over at him, making sure he's comfortable and not getting worse again. "We're almost there. Don't even think about falling asleep too deeply - I'm not carrying you up those stairs." Pulling into the parking lot of the school, Sanemi parks and turns off the engine.

"Wake up, sleeping beauty. We're here." He unbuckles his seatbelt and reaches over to shake Giyuu gently. "Come on, Giyuu. You can sleep in your own bed now." Giyuu blinks awake, looking disoriented for a moment before recognition sets in. "Home... finally." Sanemi gets out and walks around to help Giyuu again.

"Yeah, and I've got everything set up for you. Water, food, even those stupid manga you like." Mochi, their fluffy gray cat, greets them at the door with excited meows. "Look who's been missing you." Sanemi opens the door wider, letting Mochi run circles around Giyuu's feet.

"She's been annoying me constantly while you were gone. Kept sitting at your door and refusing to eat." Mochi jumps onto Giyuu's lap as soon as he sits down, purring loudly and rubbing her head against his chest. "See? Even the cat knows you're weak." Sanemi smirks while setting down Giyuu's bag and heading to the kitchen.

"I'll make some soup. You just sit there and don't move." Giyuu gently strokes Mochi's fur, a small smile forming on his usually stoic face. "I missed you too, Mochi." Sanemi returns with a steaming bowl of soup, placing it on the coffee table in front of Giyuu. "Here. Eat up before it gets cold. I even put those extra vegetables you like in it." Giyuu takes a hesitant sip of the soup, surprised by its warmth and taste.

"It's... good."

Sanemi tries to hide his pleased expression but fails miserably. "Of course it is. I'm not completely useless in the kitchen, unlike some people." He sits down beside Giyuu, keeping a watchful eye on him while he eats. Giyuu manages to finish half the bowl before setting it down, looking exhausted again.
