Heron now got it. Why his mother was doing all these and even accepting her into the house. Heron took a deep breath and sighed. No matter what he had to treat them nice.
"I know you don't get along with people well, even girls. But you have to put it aside for my sake, okay" , Sybel leaned towards him and kissed him on his forehead after she said what was on her mind. Heron breathed out,"Okay, fine". He would do anything for his mother. His mother was his only world and he loved her more than anything.
It's been two days since the arrival of Rin and Bokie in Heron's house. Sybel made them stay with the excuse that she was too young to be wandering in the forest and it could be dangerous. The forest was dangerous actually and the duo have already experience a bit of it. Rin noticed that Heron has been avoiding her them at all costs. He would go out early in the morning and would return when everyone is asleep. Rin and Bokie had had enough. Wherever he was going, they were going too and nobody's going to stop them.
The sun was not yet up but Bokie and Rin were, sitting on the parlor half asleep. Heron was holding a bow going for his usual hunt but stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Rin and Bokie sitting on the doorway dozing. He couldn't go out unless he wakes them up and so that was what he did. Rin jolted awake at the touch . When she realized it was Heron, a big smile crept up her face and she quickly woke Bokie up. Bokie gave a long disgusting yawn before looking at Rin.
"What is it mate?" Bokie said half asleep.
"Mission 101", that was all Rin said . That made Bokie active . Heron was confused by all that. He shook his head and walked past them and started heading for the forest. Rina nd Bokie also made their move and ran after him. Heron sensed it and stopped, turned and look at them with a grave look.
"And where do you two think you are going to?" Heron said in a low serious and dark tone.
"Nah uh , that tone's not gonna work on me. Today we are going hunting with you and you will love it, trust me", Rin wagged her finger in front of his face.
"No thank you , but I hunt fine, without people of course", Heron turned and started walking away from them.
They followed him like chicks following mother hen. Five times he tried to stop them from following him, five times they denied. He finally gave up because they wouldn't budge. He told them how scary the forest was and how perilous the beasts were but that made them even more excited.
"OMG, we are going on a field trip", Rin squealed as she clapped her hands in joy.
"I would say a forest trip instead of field trip. I mean, field trips are supposed to be fun. But here we are stuck with Mr. Grumpy" Bokie sighed.
"Mr Grumpy, I love that name. It is perfect for someone and that person is walking in front of us" Rin said it loud enough for Heron to hear it.
Heron was getting furious as time went by, not only because of their presence but their endless bickering. It was giving him headache. He wished he could dig a hole and just bury them in it. Worst of all, he has a nickname now, Mr Grumpy. Heron's eyes narrowed. There was something . He stopped and the two crazies behind stopped too and amazingly they kept quiet. Heron tilted his head as if he was searching for something. He saw it and one could see a smile on the corner of his lips. He reached for his bow. Immediately he saw the target, he released the arrow and shot. It was a clean and precise shot. The animal fell down in seconds. Rin was amazed at his skill and started clapping like crazy.
"Amazing, perfect. Did you see that Bokie, that was a perfect shot from Mr Grumpy", Rin said in awe.
"At least he can do something with his life other than being grumpy all his life. He is better than you anyway. He can do something, you can't do anything with your life", Bokie muttered.
"I can do something, I am going to learn how to use a bow and arrow. Trust me , I'll be better than him" Rin snapped at him.
"Just don't break it otherwise, he'll kill you", Bokie
For the first time, Heron didn't mind them, he was neither angry nor happy. He went towards his game and placed it in a sack.Rin rushed to him and said,"Heron, can you teach me how to use a bow?"
Heron gave her a look that said no. Even without a reply, Rin knew the answer.
"Please, please", Rin held his hand and tugged it to get his approval. Heron flinched at her touch.
"No and a one in capital letters", Heron removed her hand from his.
That was not the end, throughout the journey to the house, Rin was begging him. She gave up eventually and decided to annoy him more.
"Bokie, let's have POTD" , Rin suggested.
"And, what is that?" Bokie asked.
"Problem of the day", Rin answered quickly.
"You've still not answered my question, what is that?" Bokie sighed.
"Look, lemme ask you a question. Does a person wake up dead?" Rin asked with a smile.
"That is absurd. How does a person wake up dead when he is already dead. I mean he won't wake up in the first place." Bokie snorted.
Based on the topic the two argued and it was driving Heron crazy. He felt he was losing his mind and if care was not taken he would lose it and yes he lost it.
"Can you two shut up for a minute!" Heron yelled at them.
Rin gulped down saliva down her throat.
"He has lost it. Totally" , Rin whispered to Bokie loud enough for Heron to hear.
Heron threw his face into his palm and groaned. He was totally done for. He couldn't believe he was going to live with these two annoying brats in his house. If it weren't for his mother, he would have kicked them out already. He sighed at the thought and walked towards the house. They were almost home.
