Chapter 75 - Chapter Seventy-Four: God of Kurt

Obi-Wan felt a sigh of relief as Kote rattled off a string of names; after all, he couldn't stand this guy either.

However, their mission was to mediate, so how could they mediate now?

"What should we do? Can we still mediate?" Obi-Wan asked.

"Yes, because before the Republic truly attacks the Yamri people or the Kaili people, someone among them will be unable to sit still. There are only two options: full-scale war or face-to-face negotiations," Kote stated his opinion.

"I hope there won't be another fight," Obi-Wan sighed.

At this moment, Great Master Qui-Gon also arrived inside the temple. After stating his identity, the Kaili people guards led him to the Kaili people's second-in-command, Rondru Ligi Kumar.

"Hello, Great Khan, I am Qui-Gon Jinn, dispatched by the Republic Senate to mediate and investigate the truth behind the war," Qui-Gon was much more respectful than the other two.

"Hello, Ambassador from the Republic. I am Rondru Ligi Kumar, you can call me Kumar. Regarding the mediation you mentioned, the Great Khan has already gone to discuss it with your other companions. However, I am still willing to have a face-to-face dialogue with them to understand why they want to invade us," Kumar was more approachable and open-minded compared to Hilar.

"Then good news should arrive soon, as I believe the Great Khan is as open-minded as you are," Qui-Gon waited as an honored guest for Hilar's return.

More than half an hour later, Hilar returned angrily. Qui-Gon saw that something had happened; it seemed Kote and the other person were not very friendly towards this Great Khan.

"These Republic fellows only think of themselves and completely disregard the plight of the Kaili people!" Hilar angrily told Kumar.

But seeing Qui-Gon still there, he stopped. Although he didn't know if Qui-Gon understood the Kaili language, he still closed his mouth.

Afterward, Hilar asked Qui-Gon to rest first, as they were going to hold a Khan Assembly to discuss whether or not to listen to the Republic and negotiate with the Yamri people.

In a conference room, all eight Khans were present, announcing the start of the meeting.

"Great Khan, I think negotiating with the Yamri people is still possible. After all, we can first get some of our kin back, and the Republic is clearly here to help us," one Khan expressed his opinion.

"Yes, Great Khan, food is really stretched thin now. The warriors can eat their fill, but the people don't have enough at all!" another Khan thought of the other Kaili people.

"I also agree, but we can kill all the Yamri people who come for negotiations, leaving their ruling class in a power vacuum, and then we launch a swift strike," the most cunning of the eight Khans proposed his suggestion.

Listening to most voices advocating for negotiations, Hilar also had a headache. If the Republic hadn't intervened, he would have already started pushing back. It was all the Republic's fault!

"Alright, then we'll proceed with negotiations, but at the same time, have two Khans prepare to push back to our homeland at any time, and also prepare for assassinations. While it might not happen, it must be ready. Let's arrange it this way for now," Hilar arranged.

Soon after, Qui-Gon received this news, opened communications, and sent a message to Obi-Wan, telling them to inform the Yamri people that negotiations would take place three days later at the current ceasefire line between the Yamri people and the Kaili people.

"They actually agreed."

"I guessed it. After all, it benefits both sides. So let's inform the Yamri people first."

Then, the two sent a communication to Captain Cassius, who confirmed receipt and stated he would arrive on time.

Meanwhile, the Yamri people were also communicating. Captain Cassius was reporting real-time news of the invasion to the emperor within the Dynasty, also mentioning the Republic's intervention.

"Don't worry, Captain Cassius, I've already protested to the Senate through the Trade Federation, but the Senate is planning to hold us accountable for slave trading. However, our representatives will hold strong, so feel free to attack boldly. After all, it was indeed the Kaili people who attacked us first, even though we forced them, hahahahaha!" Yam'ri Conqueror III laughed loudly.

"Understood, Your Majesty the Conqueror. I will launch an attack during the negotiations to catch them off guard!" Captain Cassius felt bold and reassured upon hearing this, especially given the Republic Senate's sluggishness and the fact that many more senators had been bribed by them.

Three days later, both parties, each with their own ulterior motives, arrived at the negotiation site.

"Great Master, are they acting strangely?" Obi-Wan looked at the two groups of people.

"I hope it can proceed normally, but we must also prepare for failure," Qui-Gon looked at these individuals.

At this time, Kote was leading people to distribute food on the outskirts of Kaili City. What, didn't you say it required the most precious things in exchange?

That's right, a stone one likes is also a precious thing, a straw-woven doll is also a precious thing. These can all be exchanged for food, as long as Kote deems it precious.

In these three days, Kaili people's masked individuals repeatedly tried to drive them away but were driven off by Kote's own people. These guys would only make them starve!

"Kote God, thank you. Even if the leaders of us Kaili people have a bad attitude towards you, your light still shines upon us!" a Mandalorian Kaili person knelt beside Kote.

Kote was completely unable to correct these people. Even when he told them to stand up, they didn't dare to fully look up at Kote, which was utterly frustrating.

"The people and the rulers are different. The people should not receive special treatment because of the ruler's policies. Moreover, he is indeed fighting a war against the Yamri people. He has his reasons, and I have mine," Kote looked at the long line of Kaili people.

Throughout Kaili City, there were Mandalorians and Mandalorian Kaili people distributing food for Kote. Thus, through the spread by these Mandalorian Kaili people, Kote's name had become renowned throughout Kaili City. Some even considered Kote the God of Food, while the other two Khans were seen as Gods of War.

After each Kaili person received food, they would kneel in the direction of Kote, thanking him for their sustenance.

Many Kaili people even wanted to join Kote's subordinates. Unbeknownst to Kote, Mandalorian Kaili people had already started gathering these individuals for simple training, recounting Kote's greatness, and even providing basic Mandalorian language lessons.

They even deified the Mandalorian language, calling it the language of the gods, spoken only by the servants of God.

So, when Kote walked down the street, he sometimes noticed some Kaili people greeting him in clumsy Mandalorian language.

He immediately had people investigate and found out that those Mandalorian Kaili people had started proselytizing in Kaili, distributing food while preaching.

"Isn't this subverting the Kaili regime? Who told them to do that?" Kote truly didn't intend for them to spread it this way. He just wanted them to know who provided the food, but he didn't expect it to evolve into proselytizing.

"Kote God, you don't need to worry. This is our custom, quite normal in society," a Mandalorian Kaili person replied.

"Report to Jabba regularly, and absolutely do not do anything out of line," Kote, seeing that he could no longer stop it, could only try to control it.

"We obey the will of God."
