The moment the shard was activated, an invisible psychic wave spread out, enveloping the entire battlefield.
The Xenos Race's c'tan shard focused its psychic control ability on the Empire's armies. Mortal troops were the first to be affected; many Soldiers suddenly stopped firing, their eyes blank, and even turned to fire on their own comrades.
The Adeptus Mechanicus's Titan mechs also experienced a momentary rampage under the influence of the c'tan shard; several giant combat machines even began attacking the Empire's front lines.
Even Space Marine could not completely immune themselves to this psychic interference.

"This battle is far from over," Sarradin said coldly.
"brothers, next we go in ourselves and terminate this shard," Russ said with a grim smile, shouldering his axe.
Lion ElJonson nodded, a hint of grim killing intent on his face: "The K'tahn Xenos, this time I will destroy it with my own hands."
Gaius smiled slightly: "What happens next depends on us brothers working together."
The four Primarchs stood shoulder to shoulder once more, their gazes fixed on the c'tan shard's Core Area. The battle was about to reach its final climax.
Sarradin led the Janissaries Legion deep into the Xenos Race Core Area, aiming to capture the ancient Xenos Race altar where the c'tan shard was located.
However, just as they were about to approach the altar, a group of strange enemies appeared in their path.
These "enemies" were not only Xenos Race, but also some unknown entities emitting strong psychic fluctuations. Their forms were distorted, shimmering with an extra-dimensional radiance, surrounded by Chaos energy.
For some reason, the Xenos Race's c'tan shard had attracted the interference of Chaos Daemons! Or... perhaps all of this was a Warp conspiracy.
