Chapter 176 - Honeymoon Period Ends

Levi had always believed in the law of the jungle.

When weak, one observes the rules and integrates into them; when strong, one transcends the rules and creates them.

In his view, this was the core logic by which the world operated.

However, Royman, despite sitting at the very apex of the Guild, had never received a Falna in his life. His power and influence were derived entirely from Ouranos. Consequently, his thought processes differed slightly from the young man sitting opposite him.

In Levi's words, he heard a trace of ambition—an ambition to replace him, and perhaps even the Guild itself!

Thus, his previously barely-maintained gentle aura instantly changed.

"Hero King, you have crossed the line," Royman stated coldly. "If you take back those words now, I can pretend I never heard them."

Seeing Royman's tone turn increasingly severe, Levi sighed.

"It seems that the Guild, or rather you, are unwilling to satisfy my small 'wish'."

Having said that, he stood straight up.

"I originally thought we could get along peacefully."

"But now..."

Levi did not speak the rest of the words, but both he and Royman understood clearly.

From the moment the youth with short pale-gold hair stepped out of this room, the honeymoon period between the Hestia Familia and the Guild would end, and they would turn into enemies.

As for the reason...

It could be considered that the Hestia Familia wanted to intervene in the internal operations of the Guild, arousing Royman's vigilance.

It could also be said that Royman was greedy for power.

"Oh, I almost forgot."

Levi, who had walked to the door of the reception room, suddenly stopped.

Royman thought he intended to back down, but in the next second, the words that flowed into the 'fat pig's' ears made him instantly fly into a rage:

"In another two hours, the Ganesha Familia should be able to submit the interrogation confessions of the members of the Evils."

"When that time comes, please do not make a mistake. Properly clean up the pests within the Guild."

"You!"

*

Inside the villa hall of the Hestia Familia residence.

Seeing her lover return with a trace of fatigue, Hestia couldn't help but pat her thigh, signaling for him to lie down.

"Looking at you, that Guild Head probably didn't agree to your proposal, right?" the twin-tailed Goddess asked curiously while massaging the center of Levi's brows.

Levi exhaled a breath of turbid air upon hearing this.

"I never thought he would agree in the first place."

Among the three vices—pornography, gambling, and drugs—putting aside the drugs which had already been ruthlessly cleaned up, both the sex trade and gambling could be described as Orario's core industries. They were the financial guarantee that allowed the Guild to stand tall among the medium and large-scale Familias.

Unless Royman's head had been caught in a door, he would never choose to cut off his own arm.

"But in this way, your subsequent plans will face obstruction," Hestia said with a trace of worry. "Being targeted by the Guild is not a good thing. Moreover, there will inevitably be problems with the sales of the sparkling wine."

"It matters not." Levi closed his eyes, a relaxed expression appearing on his face. "That guy Royman has sat in the position of Guild Head for too long. He has been blinded by false power, thinking that by manipulating authority a little, he can make other Familias obediently listen."

"But in reality, heh~"

The reason the Guild stood in a neutral and transcendent position was, firstly, because other deities and the higher-ups of Familias admired Ouranos for sitting on the golden throne year-round to suppress the Dungeon, and were willing to give him face.

Secondly, the members of the Guild, from the counter staff to the Guild Head, without exception, could not hold a Falna.

Even those who retired from Familias and changed careers would have their Falna forcibly locked upon joining the Guild, turning them back into ordinary people.

In other words.

The Guild was actually just a lubricant for the medium and large-scale Familias to prevent excessive friction between each other.

It is best to have it, of course, but if it is gone, one could completely start anew and build a new one.

Hestia raised an eyebrow upon hearing this.

She was no fool; naturally, she could guess Levi's subsequent plans.

She gave a slight reminder: "Don't play with fire too much."

"Rest assured, I have always held respect for Lord Ouranos." Levi wore a smile on his face, but the content of his words was enough to make one tremble with fear. "But the operational form of the Guild truly can no longer keep up with the coming era."

To change the Guild, and even the entire Orario, was not something that could be achieved in a day or two.

Of course, relying on Levi's current strength, he also couldn't guarantee one hundred percent that he could achieve the goal.

So...

Lying on Hestia's lap, after briefly revealing his bottom line to his lover, he opened the Card Pool interface.

However, he did not switch to Lv.4 or Lv.5 as he had in the past.

Instead, he stayed on the Lv.1 interface.

Levi had discovered very early on that the Development Ability 'Luck' could be leveled up through drawing cards.

It was just that he hadn't figured out the specific rules. At the time, he didn't have that much capital to squander on exploration, so after discovering that farming monsters and dropping materials could also increase the hidden progress bar of 'Luck', he chose a more stable path for leveling up.

Now, the situation was different.

He had over 17 billion Valis Vouchers. Deducting 10 billion to guarantee the draws for the new card pool next month and the exchange for Law Crystals.

The remaining 7 billion Valis could be completely 'all-in'ed' into the card pool.

As long as 'Luck' could rise by one level during this period, changing from C to B, then when the Exchange Store list refreshes next month, he would be able to one hundred percent obtain the 'Hogyoku', without having to wait for an extra period of time.

Even the compilation of the Third Magic, which had been stuck in progress, could proceed after confirming the specific effects of the Hogyoku.

Taking a step back, even if the 7 billion Valis thrown into the card pool didn't cause a single splash.

Although it would be somewhat wasteful, it was far from hurting his foundation. At most, he would just open source a few more money-making projects to ensure his wealth remained at a level where he could draw cards with peace of mind.

As for the choice of the card pool, considering the cost-performance ratio, it definitely had to be Lv.1.

The low-tier DanMachi card pool was useless, so it was skipped directly.

The rate-up item in the Genshin Impact card pool was tentatively set as a 3-star Martial Arts Skill Book that Levi had not yet mastered.

Skill Books could be used in stacks. The effect was somewhat similar to the first-person perspective learning during Constellation Resonance, capable of directly turning others' experience into one's own.

From beginner to max level, it required about 16 books.

Converted into Valis, with his current 'Luck' level, it ranged from 500,000 to 800,000 Valis. Sometimes when luck struck, it would be even cheaper.

Once a skill reached max level, Levi would designate a different Skill Book.

After maxing out all martial arts through spending, he would choose support skills and life skills.

Then he would switch to another card pool and continue.

Because the process was interspersed with a large amount of learning in the consciousness space, Levi's card drawing efficiency wasn't considered high.

Even so, by just after 6 PM.

Accompanied by yet another extracted Skill Book turning into blue light and flying into his Inventory, on his character panel, the Development Ability 'Luck' suddenly flickered:

[Luck C -> Luck B (Pity draw count -40, Base rate-up probability for designated items +80%)]
