Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4 — “The Silence She Chose”

Sometimes, the loudest cries are never heard.

Sometimes, the deepest wounds never bleed.

And sometimes…

a child doesn't run away.

She simply walks… quietly…

away from everything she once called home.

The Escape No One Saw

The morning arrived without noise.

The Yukishiro mansion, once filled with laughter, stood quiet under the pale sunlight. Everyone slept, unaware that something irreversible had already begun.

Miyako Yukishiro stood at the gate.

Her small hands gripped the strap of her bag tightly. Her eyes were swollen from crying the entire night, but now—there were no tears.

Only silence.

Only emptiness.

Only a decision.

The family driver hesitated before opening the car door.

"Are you sure, young miss…? Should I inform Master Daichi?"

Miyako shook her head slowly.

"No… please don't tell anyone."

Her voice was soft…

but final.

And so, the car moved.

Not fast.

Not slow.

Just enough to take her away from a house that no longer felt like hers.

The Place That Still Felt Like Home

When the car stopped in front of the Hino house, the air felt different.

Warmer.

Kinder.

Safer.

The moment Miyako stepped out, the door opened before she could knock.

Reiko Hino stood there—eyes wide with shock.

"Miya…?"

That one word was enough.

Miyako dropped her bag.

And the next second—

she ran.

Straight into her grandmother's arms.

And cried.

Not softly.

Not quietly.

But like a child who had been holding everything in for far too long.

"Grandma…!" she sobbed. "I… I missed you…!"

Reiko held her tightly, her own tears falling silently.

"Why are you here alone…? What happened…?"

But Miyako couldn't answer.

Because some pain…

cannot be explained with words.

The One Who Came Back

Later that day—

The door opened again.

Heavy footsteps entered.

And before anyone could say anything—

Miyako looked up.

For a second, she didn't believe it.

But then—

"H-Hikaru…?"

Her voice broke.

And just like that, she ran again.

This time—into her brother's arms.

She held him tightly, clutching his shirt like she was afraid he might disappear too.

And she cried.

Again.

Hikaru froze for a second… then slowly wrapped his arms around her.

His little sister.

His Miya.

The one he had left behind.

And now…

the one who felt broken in his arms.

"I'm here," he whispered, gently patting her head.

"I'm here, Miya… don't cry…"

But she cried harder.

Because sometimes, the safest place is not home—

it's a person.

Meanwhile — The House That Lost Her

Back at the Yukishiro mansion—

Sayuri walked toward Miyako's room, her heart uneasy from the previous night.

She knocked.

No response.

She opened the door.

Empty.

The bed untouched.

The room… silent.

Her heartbeat quickened.

"Miyako…?"

She checked the bathroom. The balcony.

Nothing.

Her voice grew louder.

"DAICHI!"

Within minutes, the entire family gathered.

Panic spread like wildfire.

"Where is she?"

"When did she leave?"

"Did anyone see her?!"

Asuka stood in the corner, her hands trembling.

This is because of me…

Because of me…

Tears filled her eyes.

Then suddenly—the driver arrived.

Breathless.

Nervous.

"Master… young miss Miyako… she… she went to the Hino house this morning."

Silence.

Then immediately—

Daichi grabbed the phone.

The Call That Broke More Than It Fixed

At the Hino house—

The phone rang.

Reiko picked it up.

"Yes…?"

"Maa! Is Miyako there?!" Sayuri's voice was desperate.

"Yes… she is here."

Relief flooded the other side.

But behind Reiko—

Hikaru stood, holding Miyako close.

He silently gestured—

Don't tell them I'm here.

Reiko understood.

She nodded slightly.

And kept quiet.

Daichi's voice came next.

"Give the phone to Miyako."

Miyako hesitated.

Her fingers tightened around Hikaru's shirt.

But slowly… she took the phone.

"…Hello…"

Her voice was barely audible.

Instead of warmth—

Came anger.

"Miyako! Do you have any idea how worried we are?! How could you leave like that?!"

Each word hit her like a stone.

Her lips trembled.

Her eyes filled again.

She didn't speak.

She couldn't.

And before the tears could fall—

She cut the call.

The Realization

Silence filled the room.

Miyako slowly lowered the phone.

Still holding Hikaru.

Still shaking.

And that's when Hikaru understood.

Not just that she was sad.

But how deeply she was hurting.

He sat down with her, gently wiping her tears.

Then, after a pause, he spoke.

"Your results came out, right?"

Miyako nodded slowly.

"You did very well."

She didn't react.

He continued, voice calm but serious:

"Do you want to study abroad?"

The room froze.

Reiko looked shocked.

Masayoshi frowned.

Renji and Akane exchanged worried glances.

"She's still a child, Hikaru!" Reiko protested.

But Miyako…

Remained silent.

⭐ The Decision That Changed Everything

Minutes passed.

Heavy.

Slow.

Painful.

And then—

In a voice too calm for her age—

Miyako said:

"…Yes."

Everyone turned to her.

Shocked.

This was the same girl who couldn't sleep without her mother.

Who clung to her father's arm.

Who laughed loudly in every corner of the house.

And now…

She was choosing to leave.

Hikaru looked at her carefully.

"Are you sure?"

She nodded.

"Yes."

"Then it's decided," Hikaru said softly.

"We'll go to the US."

"…Okay."

Her voice didn't shake.

But her heart did.

Reiko stepped forward.

"Miya… think again, dear…"

Miyako gently shook her head.

"No, Grandma… it's decided."

Then after a pause—

She added, almost like a whisper:

"It's good for everyone."

Those words…

hurt more than tears.

---

⭐ A Child No More

Hikaru gently placed his hand on her head.

"My little Miya…" he said softly, his voice breaking,

"…you've grown up so suddenly."

But inside—

He blamed himself.

If I had been there…

If I hadn't left…

Maybe she wouldn't have broken like this.

Hikaru looked at the elders, his expression firm despite the storm inside him.

"Grandma… Grandpa… please don't tell the Yukishiro family about this yet," he said quietly.

"Let everything settle first. I'll handle things."

The room fell silent.

A heavy silence.

Because everyone understood—

this wasn't just a decision…

it was also a mistake.

They all knew it.

They all felt it.

It was wrong.

Wrong to hide something this big.

Wrong to keep a child's decision away from her parents.

Wrong to not inform the Yukishiro family—who had every right to know.

Reiko's fingers tightened slightly over her dress.

Masayoshi lowered his gaze.

Renji and Akane exchanged uncertain looks.

They wanted to speak.

They wanted to stop this.

But then—

Their eyes fell on Miyako.

That small figure…

sitting quietly…

trying so hard not to break again.

And suddenly—

Right and wrong didn't feel so simple anymore.

Because they all knew one more truth:

If the Yukishiro family found out now—

they might refuse.

They might stop her.

They might scold her again…

hurt her again… even if unintentionally.

And Miyako…

might break even more.

So despite knowing it was wrong…

They chose silence.

Not because it was right—

but because they wanted to protect her.

Even if that protection came with guilt.

---

Then Hikaru turned to Miyako.

His voice softened.

"Miya… do you want to go back… tell them everything… and say goodbye properly?"

Miyako lowered her gaze.

Memories rushed back—

her empty room…

her forgotten birthday…

her father's scolding voice…

And slowly—

She shook her head.

"…No."

A single word.

But it carried everything.

The End of Her Childhood

She looked up.

Tears still in her eyes.

But something else now—

Strength.

And she said softly:

> "I just wants to grow up… strong and independent as fast as I can."

--

That day—

A decision was made in silence.

A truth was hidden in love.

And a child…

Chose to grow up too soon.
