Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: Roxy's Story

Roxy is from the Migurd race in the Demon Continent.

As a member of the Migurd race, Roxy didn't have a very comfortable life growing up.

This doesn't mean her family was bad, or that people in the village hated her. In fact, most Migurds are good people, and her parents were loving.

However, Roxy couldn't fit in there.

The reason is that the Migurd race has a special ability. They can talk to each other without words, using telepathy.

But Roxy didn't have this ability. She couldn't understand their words, and she would hear a lot of noise that made her dizzy.

Roxy was different in that place, and couldn't fit into their way of life.

Even though her parents learned the human language to talk to her normally, Roxy couldn't feel their love or emotions.

They couldn't reach her, because she didn't have the Migurd's special power.

Staying in the village would only make her sad, and remind her that she was a bad Migurd.

So, as soon as she was old enough, Roxy left the village and became an adventurer, learning to live on her own.

She believed she had to be strong on her own, live by her own abilities, and become a grown-up without needing anyone else.

But things don't always go as planned.

Because of her blue hair, which looked green in certain light, people often thought Roxy was a Superd, and didn't like her. Also, Migurds live for a very long time, so even though she was an adult, she still looked like a child.

Roxy's life as an adventurer was full of trouble.

Even when she found good companions and friendly friends, it didn't last long, and she would end up alone again.

Roxy used to complain about being a Migurd, thinking that all her problems were because of her race. If she wasn't a Migurd, she wouldn't have suffered so much.

So she tried to forget her past, and tried to get others to like her.

To avoid being mistaken for a Superd, she wore a big hat to hide her blue hair. Because she didn't want people to think she was a child or look down on her, she bragged that she was a genius magician, good at every kind of magic, and could do anything.

Of course, people quickly found out that she was lying. But then mean people would give her impossible tasks.

Her sad life as an adventurer ended when she went to the Central Continent and studied at Ranoa Magic Academy.

At the academy, she studied magic for four years. After learning Water Saint-level magic from her teacher, Jinas, she felt like she was completely grown up and better than her teacher.

Because of this, she argued with her teacher about magic. She argued and left her teacher on bad terms, and had to start wandering alone again.

To survive, she had to choose between being an adventurer and finding a job.

Because of her past experiences, she still felt bad about being an adventurer. So she went to the Fittoa region to find a magic-related job. She met Zenith, who was looking for a tutor, and got the job of teaching magic.

Roxy didn't expect much from teaching magic to kids.

She had seen too many so-called magic geniuses at the academy, but they were usually just average. They didn't really want to learn magic, and didn't try hard to get stronger.

Most people learned magic just because they wanted attention and to seem special.

Roxy thought she was different. She believed that only she really understood what it meant to learn magic.

That's why she argued with her teacher and stayed away from people...

Thinking like this, she arrived in Buena Village and met Zenith's two children, Shirou and Rudeus.

After a short time, Roxy knew that Rudeus was a true genius.

He could use intermediate magic without chanting at only five years old.

Even at Ranoa Magic Academy, this would be an amazing thing.

Roxy thought her own talent was special, but compared to Rudeus, it was like comparing the moon to a firefly. The difference was huge.

Of course, just because of a difference in talent, Roxy wouldn't be bothered. She had seen many geniuses in her time as an adventurer. But people who only rely on talent can't achieve great things. It's the people who lack talent, but try their best to make up for it and keep trying until the end, who can become truly extraordinary.

Roxy thought she was one of those people. She was confident and believed she was different.

Then she saw Shirou. She saw a boy who didn't have much talent, but never let that stop him. He used his will to create miracles.

Before seeing Shirou, Roxy could believe that she tried as hard as anyone else, and that she had worked hard since she was a child to reach her goals.

But after seeing everything Shirou did, overcoming all difficulties to reach his goals, Roxy realized that she was immature.

Because she didn't have the Migurd's special ability, she ran away from the village. Because people treated her badly because of how she looked, she tried to prove herself in different ways. Because she had a little more talent for magic than others, she was proud of herself and even looked down on her teacher…

She had been running away her whole life, avoiding the problems she faced, and never facing her weaknesses.

But this boy never seemed lost or confused. Even though he was young, he had a will and beliefs that were stronger than an adult's. Even when facing problems he couldn't solve, he would try his best to overcome them.

Roxy saw her own immaturity completely in Shirou.

Roxy regretted it at that moment. She didn't know why she regretted it, but she felt like she had to make up for her past mistakes.

So, for the first time, she ignored the difference in talent and tried her best to teach Shirou magic.

Even though Shirou didn't have much talent for magic, she was willing to put all her effort into teaching him everything she knew.

She believed that they could have a good teacher-student relationship based on trust.

Until that night, when that embarrassing thing happened, and the relationship fell apart...
