It was late at night when they left the restaurant, the four suns long dipped below the horizon, leaving only the bruised sky and the four pale moons to light their path.
They landed on the residential island, a floating slab of obsidian and crimson jade suspended by chains thick as mountains.
Ash expected an inn or rented rooms; instead, they stood before an entire manor... two stories of black marble veined with living blood, windows glowing soft scarlet from within, gardens of night-blooming roses that dripped actual blood-dew onto the grass.
"Uh, is this normal?" Ash asked looked at the place.
"What do you mean?" Raven asked in confusion.
Ash shook his head and walked into the house.
When they stepped through the towering doors of blood-iron and dragon-bone, the entire ground floor was one vast, like an echoing hall… and only two bedchambers waited upstairs... one on each floor.
