Chapter Twenty-Four —Is he back
The morning sunlight slowly crept in, making the dark corners of the house bright, ushering in a new day.
Zahid stood in the corridor, phone still in his hand. as Hakeem's words replayed in his mind.
How did he know that, they were coming.
That single line sat on his chest like a weight.
It was as if he was in the house with them, like he was among them.
Zahid slipped the phone into his pocket and walked back into the living room.
Upstairs, the twins were still asleep beside Angel.
Or so he thought.
Upstairs. . .
Mara turned on her side and blinked awake slowly, hugging Angel's arm. She didn't get up yet, Angel slept peacefully for the first time in days, it was like her body went on lock down mode, it needed to recharge.
But Malik was already sitting at the foot of the bed,with his tablet opened on his lap.
He wasn't watching cartoons.
He wasn't coding
