Joshua's eyes darted across the floating panel, lips parting slightly.

"Wow… I expected this," he murmured, scratching the back of his head, "but that's low."

The screen pulsed faintly, as if mocking him.

> "Pfft, low?" Ray said, peeking over the glowing words like a nosy parrot. "For a ten-year-old human, that's actually impressive. Your resolve stat alone is higher than most adults."

Joshua raised a brow. "Are you trying to compliment me or insult me?"

> "Both," Ray answered with a cheeky grin.

Joshua sighed, then tapped the glowing panel again. A new section unfolded in front of him — lines of light forming sentences one after another.

Joshua stared at the screen, blinking slowly. "Wow… that's a lot. Like, a little too much."

> "Yeah, it is," Ray agreed, crossing his tiny arms. "So you'll have to work hard to raise them. These numbers don't move on their own, you know."

Joshua groaned. "Figures."

He scrolled down until he saw something that caught his eye. "Hey, what's with this 'Available Points: 0'? That's so unfair."

Ray tilted his head. "Available points? What's that supposed to mean?"

Joshua blinked, then turned toward him like a teacher facing a clueless student.

> "Didn't you read any novels in your free time? It clearly means free points that can be added to increase any stat."

Ray blinked, clearly unimpressed. "Oh… that's what that means?"

Joshua smirked. "And I can gain those points by completing missions, right, System?"

A soft ding answered.

[Yes. Absolutely.]

Ray's wings froze mid-flap. "Wait—so you can talk to it just like that?"

Joshua looked at him smugly, leaning back on the bed. "Apparently, yes. You see, country bumpkin, I'm the main character here."

> "Country—what did you call me!?" Ray shouted, his tiny halo flaring in outrage.

Joshua ignored him, already focusing on the next tab. His eyes gleamed with excitement, his exhaustion forgotten. The blue light reflected in his pupils, making him look older—sharper—for just a moment.

"Next…" he said softly. "Skills."

The screen shimmered again, and new options began to form—letters of light twisting into being, as if the world itself was preparing to teach him its rules.
