Colonel Donovan took the binoculars and scanned the abandoned field of the area. He remembered the place was infested with RCEs before the sun went down yesterday. But now, there were only emptied fields.
"Where are all those RCEs?" Donovan said.
"We don't know for sure, Colonel." The soldier shook his head.
Colonel Donovan returned the binoculars to the soldier, "Request an NES scan from HQ."
"Yes, Colonel!"
Soon, a new report was sent to the military base. The Colonel pulled it up onto the projector.
He was inside the war room with the other commanding officers.
"This is..." An officer widened his eyes.
They did a scan yesterday just before Assassin had arrived. It showed at least 200 threats roaming in the area.
Today, that number didn't even reach 100.
"What happened?" Colonel Donovan squinted his eyes.
Everyone shook their heads. They were as clueless as Donovan.
Suddenly, a soldier ran into the room.
"We have spotted Assassin, sir!" He shouted.
