Chapter 2 - CHAPTER TWO

"Sapphire." Nate repeated. "The name suits you really well." He said. His piercing light grey eyes looking at her appreciatively again.

"Bright, vibrant, remarkably beautiful and rare." Nate said in a voice that whispered seduction.

He raised her chin slightly as if he was going to kiss her. All he had to do was bend forward a little bit more and his mouth would be on hers.

Her eyes were blue, the color of rich sapphire stones. And they showed brightly under the reflection of the street lights they were standing under.

Her eyes were a shocking contrast to her hair, dark as sin…and cascaded in waves down to her hip.

Her lips were just full enough to tempt a man to beg for a taste of them.

Sapphire had those peaches and cream complexion that made her look effortlessly beautiful even without any makeup on her face.

"God,the woman was a knockout." Nate thought.

One good look at her and any man could fall flat on his face at her feet.

Sapphire was beginning to feel really nervous from the way he just kept looking at her…like he couldn't believe she was a real person. He looked like a man caught in a trap but wasn't interested in freeing himself.

She also thought of her own safety.

The thought of being around the area at such a time held no appeal. No bus seemed to be coming any moment soon, and she had to make a choice. Go with the handsome stranger or stand and face a gang of rough characters who might find her an interesting target for their fun tonight. The thoughts sent shivers down her spine. She'd rather take her chances with a man who looked like a young girl's idea of a prince Arthur pendragon . A knight in shining armor.

"Well,I'm going toward the east part of town." Sapphire said, fighting the urge to lean just a little further into this palm that was still caressing her cheek.

Nate thought she looked flustered and innocent which makes her look even more appealing and delicate to him. He felt his lip curved in a gentle smile.

None of them thought to question when they were so comfortable being this close with each other even though they'd just met.

It felt like an invisible force pulling them towards each other so hard that none could resist.

Nate was even more surprised with his reaction to her beauty. He had never been taken aback by any female and left speechless . He had met tons of women from different races, and various high influential backgrounds but none had appealed to him. Sure he had found a lot of them attractive, but none had knocked him flat on his butt the way sapphire did by just existing.

Sapphire held a natural charm that was even more appealing to him than all those artificially and carefully constructed beauties.

It wasn't just her beauty though. There was something about her he found very interesting and he's yet to figure out what it is.

"Okay Angel let's go." Nate said finally as he stepped back. Sapphire let out a long breath she had no idea she was holding.

They proceeded toward his bike and Nate handed her the spare helmet that hung on his bike. He helped her secure it on her head. When he was done, she made him think of power rangers and he thought made him

smile warmly at the image she made in the helmet.

"What's wrong…?" Sapphire asked in a small voice, unsure what to make of his expression.

Nate only smiled and shook his head.

"Nothing,it looks good on you." He said as he climbed on his bike and let sapphire do the same.

"Don't worry I'll take it easy with the speed." Nate said, teasing her.

He felt her hands relaxed on his shoulder as he started the bike.

"No need for that…I'm not afraid of speed." Sapphire answered back.

Nate instantly recognized the challenge in her voice and smiled. Damn! if he didn't like her already.

"Hold tight " He instructed, and set off on a considerably high speed. Just enough to keep her impressed and entertained.

He felt her arms slide under his to hold him tightly and rested her head on his back. The move, simple and necessary enough, but it filled him with a kind of pleasure that went straight to his heart.

Sapphire was so thrilled with the speed,he heard her laughing wildly. Nate had to restrain himself from playing Stunts. The last time he had tried such he had landed in the hospital and had even made the news headlines despite how his parents tried their best to keep the incident private.

But it's not everyday you find a billionaire's son being pulled into the emergency ward with several broken bones. He had been twenty at the time.

Twenty and rebellious.

Nate had paid for that stunt with months of physical therapy and nurses poking into his sides.

The media had come up with different versions of what had happened on that day and his parents had to do a lot of damage control to restore his image as the perfect gentle bred responsible son.

Of course he couldn't take such chances with another human being… especially not one as beautiful, and as delicate as sapphire Zimmerman.

"This is fun " Nate heard sapphire shouting into his ears to be heard through the blast of waves assaulting them left and right. "Do you do this everyday?" She asked.

"No,but most of the time when I have to get away for a while." Nate shouted back. Thoroughly enjoying her excitement.

Every minute he spent with sapphire,he felt his defenses drop…and he wondered what enchanting spell she held over him. He felt like a king and a beggar all at once.

His interest in knowing more about her increases like the speed of his bike. He'd have to find out everything about her soon. Nate decided in his heart.

Finally Nate came to a stop after taking the last turn into town from sapphire's directions.

"Here I'll stop here." Sapphire instructed as he pulled to a stop. "I can walk from here. I live only a block from here." She said…

"Thanks Nathaniel Spencer for giving me a ride. It was fun. I really enjoyed it." Sapphire said, taking off her helmet and handing it back to him.

"You're welcome Angel." Nate replied, taking the helmet back from her to secure it on his bike once again.

"Maybe we can do this again." He said with a charming smile targeted to disarm and persuade her. He took her hands into his.

Sapphire blushed hard as she focused her gaze on his hands. They were beautiful, neat and polished like the rest of him.

"We"ll see." Sapphire simply said as she finally pulled her hand away and turned to leave.

Nate caught her arm again and pulled her slightly back towards him and she all but stumbled right into his arms. He wasn't sure if he pulled her there or if she walked right into him, but it just felt right to have her there.

His arms held her lightly. Not branding her as his yet. But just a subtle plea.

"Wait a moment please, don't go yet." Nate found it uncomfortable noting that a knot had formed in his stomach.

The sight of her in the shadowing light added another mystery to her face, making him think of a mysterious wild enchantress.

Her full wavy dark hair blown by the mind, are eyes dark and captivating. He had to restrain himself from tasting the honey from her beautiful lips that kept pulling at him . All he needed to do was to tip a little forward and claim her lips.

"When can I see you again." Nate asked a little breathlessly. His voice came out a husky whisper which sapphire found incredibly sexy.

"Saturday,at the Torres night club up east. You can't miss it. It's the only interesting place in the area." Sapphire said, pulling away once again.

"8pm,be punctual !" Sapphire walked away with a smile playing on her lips.

Aware he was still watching her right where he stood, she firmly resisted the urge to swing her hips as she walked.
