Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

Year 613 of Divine Descent

Kingdom of Avendale

Border City, Antara

30 May

Following the flow of people, Saelran walked along the main road. Perhaps due to the heavy foot traffic, some parts of the stone pavement had become slightly concave.

Even so, the ground remained very clean, with only a little moss visible in the gaps between the stones.

The surrounding buildings were arranged in a pleasing, layered layout, dominated by light colors and dark European-style rooftops.

Saelran continued down the street, observing his surroundings as he headed for the Adventurers Guild of "Antara."

He needed to find a place to rest properly.

He had left the capital on 17 May, and he had spent thirteen days on the road.

He needed to prioritize leveling up.

The Arkenwald Forest and the Baras Plains, located near Antara, were two important leveling locations for him.

Saelran planned to head to Arkenwald Forest first.

It was not only because the forest was filled with beasts and monsters, but also because the undead creatures in the Baras Plains were beyond his ability to effectively harm.

Therefore, Saelran needed to prepare some supplies, thanks mostly to the survival skills taught to him by the Guard team.

He did not head to the Adventurers Guild but rather to a nearby inn. These inns were said to be businesses that emerged alongside the Adventurers Guild.

High-ranking adventurer teams could even stay in these inns for free.

After walking for more than ten days, in his previous life, Saelran would have felt like his legs were useless.

But now, aside from some mild fatigue, he did not feel any discomfort at all, not even blisters on his feet.

This made Saelran suspect that leveling up did not only increase strength, but also significantly improved physical condition.

Saelran opened his water pouch, took a sip, and after a few more blocks, found a small inn across from the Adventurers Guild.

This type of inn had two types of rooms.

One was a shared room for several people that could accommodate four to six individuals, costing one copper coin per person per day.

The other was a double room, costing five copper coins per person per day.

This inn was clearly designed for adventurer teams, which made sense since local civilians rarely stayed at inns except for adventurers and visiting merchant caravans.

Saelran certainly would not stay in a shared room, so he booked a double room. Considering the time needed to prepare supplies, he booked it for two days, costing twenty copper coins, equivalent to one silver coin and seven copper coins.

Creaaak...

He pushed the brown wooden door open, the old hinges letting out a soft creak.

Saelran stepped inside, closed the door behind him, and surveyed the room.

The room was not large, only around eleven or twelve square meters. Two wooden beds sat in the center, with a simple bedside table between them.

There was no other furniture; the room looked very simple. The only thing Saelran found pleasing was that the room had a separate toilet.

Overall, this world was at a medieval level, but due to the existence of magic, it could not be considered a pure medieval world.

For example, both in the royal capital and the main streets of Antara, there were objects resembling street lamps.

Of course, they were not actual street lamps, but magical ones that contained something known as Eternal Light.

Although the journey had been difficult, it was not a problem for Saelran. The only thing he found somewhat unbearable was the matter of going to the toilet.

There was paper in this world.

However, the papermaking process was very primitive, the output was extremely low, and no one bothered to improve it.

This was because this world had zero-tier magic, which did not exist in the game "Oblivion Gate."

This type of magic was also known as daily-life magic.

It required only a little magical power to easily create large amounts of paper, so naturally, there was no need to advance paper crafting technology.

Fortunately, the Guard team was a high-income group. Wealthy people tended to have higher living standards.

Otherwise...

"Ahem."

Saelran cleared his throat lightly, interrupting the thoughts that had wandered into his mind.

The existence of zero-tier magic was something Saelran heard from the Guard team, according to their captain, Dalron.

This type of magic was purely for convenience. Most magic casters would not bother learning it unless they needed it, and if not, they would simply buy the appropriate magic scrolls.

This information also reminded Saelran that he acquired skills by consuming skill points after others used them.

Could he also learn magic through scrolls by consuming skill points?

There was also the matter of earning money.

Whether he liked it or not, his upcoming purchases would require money.

Heading into Arkenwald Forest, aside from everything else, he needed to buy at least one piece of armor, especially a weapon. His short sword would likely become dull after killing only a few beasts.

He could not afford magical weapons, but he needed to buy some regular swords.

The basic prices in this world were not high, but anything related to magic became extremely expensive.

A simple cup with a cooling effect cost around one hundred fifty gold coins.

And a weapon with magical effects, regardless of strength, was worth more than one thousand gold coins.

These were items an ordinary person could never afford in their entire lifetime.

With his current money, he could only buy a few decent regular weapons.

During his journey to Antara, Saelran had already begun thinking about ways to earn money, and consulting Eidar about making recovery potions was part of that consideration.

However, after thinking it over, Saelran knew he could not spend too much time gathering alchemical materials and learning them.

Therefore...

Saelran then considered Zero-tier Magic, also known as life magic.

"Fortunately, Captain Dalron's money solved my current difficulties."

Saelran took out the pouch of gold coins from his pocket.

He had just checked and found that it contained twenty gold coins. Combined with his remaining money, he now had twenty two gold coins, four silver coins, and four copper coins.

Saelran placed the money pouch into his item box, massaged his temples, and pondered many things before finally...

Thump.

Saelran walked to the bed and lay down.

He had been sleeping outdoors for some time, and his nerves had been constantly tense.

Now he could finally sleep in a proper bed.

What he needed most now was rest and recovery.

Lying on the bed, Saelran turned his head and glanced out the window. The sun was high in the sky, likely just past noon.

This inn was not far from the Adventurers Guild, and since it was still daytime, he should be able to rest well.

This thought passed through Saelran's mind, and he closed his eyes.
