Chapter 41 - Chapter 41

Seeing the changes in his attribute panel, Saelran felt that his efforts over the past few days had finally paid off. His "Sword Saint" mastery had reached its maximum level.

Next, he needed to raise his "Genius" class to level 10, which should fulfill the basic requirements.

"The experience requirement had reached 5.000, and the amount needed increases with every level." Saelran swallowed the boar meat in his mouth.

However, there was nothing he could do about it.

Saelran was worried that in the later stages of the game, the monsters available for him to defeat would not be enough.

After all, in Oblivion Gate, almost 90% of the monsters that needed to be fought came from the Nine Gates of Helldusk.

He shook his head.

This was not something he should be thinking about right now.

"The Alignment attribute has changed."

"Killing so many goblins changed my alignment from neutral to positive, so is alignment in this world determined by racial perspective?"

Although there might be differences between the alignment system in the game and in this world.

Saelran looked at the Alignment column on his status panel and pondered.

"Alignment is also a very important attribute in the game Oblivion Gate."

Alignment did not only affect race, equipment, and classes, but also significantly strengthened or weakened the effects of certain skills.

For example, the Eighth-tier spell "Moral Distortion" could turn a character with a highly positive alignment, Angelic, into a highly negative alignment, Demonic.

The Tenth-tier spell "Divine Flame" dealt greater damage when the caster had a very positive alignment, but when the alignment was negative, its power became even lower than a first tier attack spell.

In Saelran's opinion, having an alignment that was too positive or too negative was not ideal. In Oblivion Gate, there were several skills or spells that dependent on alignment value.

Keeping the alignment neutral was generally a good choice.

If one's job, race, or equipment did not require alignment, it was safer to keep the alignment value at neutral.

Gulp.

Saelran drank more water and glanced at his iron sword, which already had several chips on its blade.

It looked like this sword could break at any moment. Fortunately, he had prepared ten iron swords beforehand, so he would not run out of weapons.

"Judging from the statistics, a mid tier class should provide higher stat bonuses than a low tier class," Saelran thought.

"A max level Sword Saint should have offensive power surpassing even a level fifteen adventurer from this world. Maybe not too different, but perhaps about level seventeen?"

Saelran speculated in his mind.

If combined with the skill "Rapid Slash" and its passive bonuses, it would result in a physical attack strength increase of one hundred twenty percent, at least raising his combat power by one entire level.

Rustle.

Rustle.

Rustle.

Hmm?

Saelran raised his head without expression, staring at the movement from behind the bushes ahead.

Bang!

Heavy footsteps pressed against the leaves, and a large yellow creature pushed aside the tall bushes and appeared.

"An orc?"

"I knew it. With this many goblins in the colony, there is no way there would be no orc."

Seeing the orc appear, Saelran did not panic. Instead, a smile appeared on his face.

However, a moment later, Saelran's smile froze.

Behind the first orc, another one appeared.

Two?

Rustle.

Rustle.

Rustle.

The sound of rustling leaves echoed from the surrounding forest.

More heavy footsteps followed.

Saelran's smile disappeared completely.

One after another, orcs emerged from all directions, forming a circle around him.

"Hey, hey, six orcs. This number is a bit strange," Saelran muttered in his heart.

The appearance of six orcs immediately tightened the atmosphere.

Saelran stood up, his expression serious.

With his current level and strength, fighting one orc was no problem. Two orcs were not a major threat. But six at the same time...

It was not a matter of whether he could beat them.

"Orcs are not smart enough to set traps," Saelran thought as his eyes gleamed. He shifted his body slightly to bring as many orcs as possible into his field of vision.

The small goblin colony he had just cleared was nowhere near enough to support six orcs, and yet they were surrounding him completely.

This did not match the stereotype of orcs being unintelligent.

However...

The orcs clearly had no intention of giving Saelran time to think.

"Food!"

"Human!"

"Roar!"

"Die!"

Almost simultaneously, the six orcs roared, anger visible on their faces, and charged toward Saelran while swinging their large wooden clubs.

Their heavy footsteps shook the ground in unison.

Their towering figures, nearly two meters tall, created gusts of wind and invisible pressure as they advanced.

He could not allow himself to be surrounded!

That thought flashed across Saelran's mind. He quickly scanned his surroundings and locked onto the farthest orc.

"Magic Arrow!"

This was clearly not the time to conserve mana.

Magical power was pulled from Saelran's body.

In an instant, three magic arrows formed in the air and shot toward the farthest orc.

Whoosh. Whoosh. Whoosh.

The three magic arrows struck the orc's chest with great speed, leaving three fist-sized holes.

"Argh!" the orc roared in pain.

However...

Wounds of that depth were still not enough to cause serious damage to the thick skinned creature.

After all, Saelran's Magic Attack stat was only thirteen points.

He never expected his magic to deal significant damage.

But the moment the magic attack struck, the orc's charge halted, immediately creating a gap in the encirclement.

At the same time he cast the spell, Saelran also moved, rushing toward the opening.

Whoosh.

The wounded orc saw him and angrily swung its huge wooden club.

A heavy whooshing sound cut through the air.

Whoosh.

Saelran rushed forward, crouching quickly so that the club only grazed above his head, avoiding the blow and slipping out of the orc's encirclement.

"I will deal with all of you another time."

Without looking back, Saelran pushed off the ground and ran at full speed.

However...

The six orcs behind him clearly had no intention of letting him go. They roared and chased after him.

Bang. Bang.

Their heavy footsteps made the ground tremble slightly.

The thick bushes and trees seemed to have no effect on the orcs. Their massive bodies crushed branches and foliage as they charged through.

The forest was their domain.

But for Saelran, the branches and bushes greatly hindered his speed.
