Chapter 9 - 9

Alvin simply rinsed off and lay on the bed. His conversation with Daredevil Matt today made him feel a bit emotional.

Alvin grew up, married, and had children in China in his previous life. He was an order-loving person; whether it was white order or black order, it was always better than chaotic disorder.

Alvin, relying on his own strength, protected three communities in Hell's Kitchen. This was the limit that other gangs could tolerate. There was a mature set of underground rules here, and Alvin couldn't break them casually, or it would lead to a war. And the ones who would suffer in a war would still be the ordinary poor people.

When a person gets used to holding a gun, they will always consider how to solve problems with a gun when something happens.

Fortunately, Alvin was an ordinary person with his own worldview and values in his previous life. Although he gained powerful strength in this life, when faced with problems, the role of strength always came after the rules.

This was why he was more willing to help the police in Hell's Kitchen. He couldn't shackle himself like Matt, always wanting to bear the safety of the entire community on his shoulders.

Of course, when encountering people or things that went beyond the rules, Alvin was not pedantic. He would fight when necessary and kill when necessary. For example, the "Purple Man" that S.H.I.E.L.D. was looking for today was fed to his pet, the Ghoul Vine. And incidentally, he saved Jessica Jones, who is now a waitress at his restaurant.

Alvin didn't read many American comics in his previous life; he was only familiar with the Avengers in Marvel. He knew Matt because Daredevil had been made into a movie, and his characteristics were too easy to remember: a blind man who was exceptionally good at fighting.

He had never heard of Jessica, a civilian superhero in the Defenders. This allowed him to hire her as his waitress with a clear conscience.

In fact, with Alvin's personality, if he knew Jessica's future trajectory, he probably wouldn't have hired her. This mature man had a simple philosophy: superheroes bring super trouble.

But now he didn't know anything, he was just a little surprised by Jessica's immense strength. However, he himself was a transmigrator, so a little girl with great strength was nothing major.

Alvin thought for a while and stopped dwelling on things he couldn't control. He communicated with his pets: the three ghost wolves were responsible for three streets, and Sol and Dom stayed at his shop to guard the house.

The crows were scattered in various corners of Hell's Kitchen. Today, they would share some of Matt's work. Although he had an agreement with Kingpin that his territory was limited to the three nearby blocks, he wasn't trying to take over territory. Maintaining order, he believed, Kingpin would understand. Besides, Kingpin didn't know the crows were Alvin's summons.

The ghost wolves couldn't be sent out. All the gangs in Hell's Kitchen knew that the giant wolves were Alvin's pets.

Everything was in order. Alvin hugged his pillow, recalled his wife's appearance from his previous life—it was very good, very clear. Within a few minutes, he fell asleep. In his dream, he could see his wife and children again. His wife's incessant nagging became endearing, and his son's mischief became adorable.

After a good night's sleep, Alvin woke up at five o'clock. He got up, washed, put on a tracksuit, and went out for a run.

At the entrance, a Chinese couple was pushing a breakfast cart. Alvin waved and greeted them, "Hi~ Good morning, Uncle Cheng, Aunt Cheng."

Seeing the small boy cowering behind the breakfast cart, wishing he could bury himself in the ground, Alvin laughed, "Jiawen, I heard you got a D in history on your last exam. You're finished, kid. Teacher Wilson is going to give you a hard time, I'm sure."

Aunt Cheng's face darkened when she heard this. She smacked Jiawen hard on the shoulder and pulled him out.

Jiawen lowered his head, quickly looked up at Alvin, and softly greeted, "Good morning, Principal!"

Alvin gave him a half-smile. As he passed by, he patted his shoulder and said to Uncle Cheng, "Save me ten steamed buns and three cups of soy milk. I'll pay when I get back." Then he pointed at Jiawen with his finger and said with a sneer, "Kid, you're finished." After that, he went out for his run.

Early in the morning, he ran a lap around his territory, was harassed by the young woman Dalia who was specifically waiting on the road, and feeling affirmed in his charm, Alvin returned to the restaurant refreshed.

Uncle Cheng and his wife were already busy at the entrance. Baskets of steamed buns were steamed, bagged, and handed to people who got up early to go to work. Jiawen was responsible for packing the soy milk and collecting money. When he saw Alvin return, he was startled and almost spilled the soy milk in his hand on old Kent, who was buying breakfast.

Old Kent wasn't angry. Instead, he grinned at Jiawen and laughed, "Kid, by the looks of you, you won't have an easy time at school today, haha! I knew that with Alvin as principal, you kids would have a tough time, haha!"

Alvin greeted old Kent and said, "Find two workers from the kindergarten, 500 yuan, to fix my upstairs floor and door.

Also, urge them to speed up. 500,000 dollars just came in recently. Discuss with the teachers what other equipment and toys are needed and buy them quickly. I don't want to see two- or three-year-old children running on the street anymore."

Uncle Cheng, who was busy, heard this and said to Alvin, "Is it just some carpentry work? I'll do it for you, it's very simple, no charge."

Alvin thought for a moment, "Then 200 yuan. Let old Kent have someone deliver whatever materials are needed." Then he waved his hand to stop Uncle Cheng from speaking further. He took the packed breakfast and went back into the restaurant.

Inside the restaurant, Jessica was already up. He didn't know what she was doing, but when she saw Alvin come in, her face flushed, and she desperately wiped the table with a rag.

Alvin smiled and teased, "If you wipe any more, the paint will come off."

Jessica ignored Alvin, dropped the rag, picked up a small comb, and hugged Sol's neck, vigorously combing his fur. The tall Sol was so choked his tongue hung out, looking utterly resigned.

Alvin shivered, deciding it was better not to provoke this girl. The things in his house were worth a lot!

He put down his breakfast and went upstairs, intending to wake Nick. But as soon as he reached the bar, he saw Nick hopping down from the second floor through the small door. Seeing Alvin, Nick was still winking, trying to express something he didn't understand.

Sitting in his wheelchair, Nick grinned mischievously and loudly said to Jessica, "Jessie, I think I need a cup of coffee. There was an earthquake at home yesterday, and I was too scared to sleep well."

Alvin watched Nick dig his own grave with a smile, remaining silent.

For breakfast, Nick drank a cup of salted milk. When he was about to eat the meatball in the middle of his bun, it was knocked off. His wheelchair was accidentally tipped over twice.

Nick desperately appealed to Alvin, but Alvin ignored the mischievous child, just watching him get bullied in various ways.

A breakfast full of skirmishes ended with Nick bowing his head in defeat.

At seven o'clock sharp, a big-nosed school bus stopped in front of the restaurant, honking its horn. Nick, as if fleeing for his life, pushed his wheelchair out, even forgetting his backpack.

Alvin shook his head, picked up Nick's backpack, and walked out. He also wanted to go to school to take a look.

As he left, he saw Jiawen helping Nick move his wheelchair onto the school bus. Nick himself grabbed the door handle and hopped onto the school bus on one leg.

Alvin greeted JJ, who had a shotgun under the windshield, and tossed the backpack to Nick. He then got into a pickup truck, called out to Dom, and let it get into the passenger seat, leaving Sol at home to guard the house.
