Chapter 65: Porunga
After releasing his transformation, Turles crossed his arms and sat on the ground with his legs folded, recovering his stamina while reflecting on the transformation he'd just experienced.
This was Turles's first time achieving the humanoid Great Ape form, and everything had happened so suddenly. He'd missed many details during the transformation. Now, thinking back, he realized his transformation differed significantly from Raditz's.
Turles clearly remembered that when Raditz first transformed—with his help—the process had been direct, without any actual Great Ape stage. But his own experience had been similar to Goku's Super Saiyan 4 transformation process in GT.
Though both achieved the same result, something still felt off to Turles.
What bothered him most was the golden ape that had appeared in his mind.
In Turles's memory, the golden ape had only appeared with Goku and Vegeta during their Super Saiyan 4 transformations. But even then, it had manifested when they transformed into Super Saiyans while in Great Ape form—the two states overlapping to create the golden ape. Not appearing in their minds like his had.
Moreover, the golden ape's aura had given Turles an extraordinary sensation—unlike any energy signature he'd ever sensed before. It felt noble, immortal, like a deity's majestic presence.
Thinking of this, Turles recalled the Grand Elder's mention of divine aura. A suspicion began forming in his mind.
"Oh no!"
Remembering the Grand Elder, Turles's expression changed dramatically. He couldn't afford to dwell on his abnormality any longer. He immediately released his ki sense, searching for Nail and Deru's energy signatures.
"Found them!"
Capturing their signatures, Turles shot into the sky, flying rapidly toward them.
Soon they appeared in his line of sight. A group of Namekians had formed a circle around them, with the Grand Elder lying at the center.
Sensing the Grand Elder's weak aura, Turles suddenly accelerated, his body rushing toward the ground.
CRASH!
Turles created a crater upon landing. Before the surrounding Namekians could react, he rushed to the Grand Elder's side, pulled a Senzu Bean from his clothes, and fed it directly into the Grand Elder's mouth.
Everything happened so fast that even Nail, who'd been guarding the Grand Elder, couldn't react. By the time Nail came to his senses, Turles had already finished.
"Saiyan!"
Seeing Turles appear, Nail—who'd been overcome with grief—exploded into action. He roared and launched an attack at Turles.
Nail went all out, his right hand clenched into a fist, driving straight toward Turles's face.
Turles made no attempt to dodge. He merely used his ki to protect his face internally and took Nail's punch head-on.
"What?"
Seeing the completely unharmed Turles, Nail couldn't believe it. He cried out in shock, freezing in place.
"Cough! Cough!"
At that moment, the Grand Elder's coughing broke the silence. Nail snapped back to attention, immediately turning to the Grand Elder and forgetting about settling scores with Turles.
"Grand Elder, how do you feel?" Nail asked with concern.
"Ho ho ho! Good. Better than I've felt in ages!" The Grand Elder smiled and simply stood up, walking a circle under Nail's delighted gaze.
"Grand Elder, you—"
Nail couldn't remember how long it had been since the Grand Elder had stood. Seeing him walking so vigorously now, Nail was overcome with emotion.
Seeing the Grand Elder's recovery, Turles breathed a sigh of relief.
But the next second, as the Grand Elder prepared to do some stretching exercises, Turles had to fake a cough. "Ahem!"
Hearing Turles's cough, the Grand Elder seemed to realize he'd gotten a bit carried away. He made a fist, placed it near his mouth, cleared his throat lightly, and resumed a dignified demeanor.
The Namekians nearby also saw the Grand Elder had recovered—and was in even better condition than before. They immediately erupted in cheers.
Deru looked at Turles with gratitude. Only he knew what Turles had just given the Grand Elder.
Turles saw Deru's expression and simply shook his head, signaling him not to worry about it.
With the situation resolved, and seeing the Dragon Balls were conveniently present, Turles proposed summoning the dragon to make his wishes. The Grand Elder had already agreed earlier and naturally didn't refuse.
Nail arranged the seven Namekian Dragon Balls in an open space. Passing by Turles, he awkwardly muttered a thank you. If not for Turles's sharp hearing, he might not have caught it.
Namek's Dragon Balls were much larger than Earth's—roughly basketball-sized. Arranged on the ground, they flickered continuously with red light.
"Takkaraput popo porunga pupiritto paro!" (Come forth, Porunga!)
As Nail called out in Namekian, the sky above Namek darkened just like when summoning Earth's Shenron.
On Namek, opportunities to use the Dragon Balls were rare. For many young Namekians, this was their first time witnessing Namek's dragon—Porunga—appear. Many watched with curious expressions.
As golden lightning tore across the sky, beams of light shot from the Dragon Balls straight into the clouds. Porunga appeared before everyone.
Porunga's form towered thousands of meters high, hovering in the air. Unlike Earth's Shenron's slender build, Porunga had a humanoid upper body with developed muscles—especially his two powerfully built arms.
His skin was deep green, with black curved horns growing from his head and shoulders. His massive head and crimson eyes gave him a somewhat fierce appearance. Many young Namekians instinctively hid behind the adults.
"The one who has gathered all seven Dragon Balls—no matter what your three wishes are, I will grant them!"
Porunga opened his fearsome maw, his majestic voice echoing in everyone's ears.
Nail looked toward Turles, awaiting his wishes.
"My first wish is to grant Saiyans the ability to survive in space!"
Turles spoke his carefully considered wish.
As his battle power increased, he'd face increasingly powerful enemies. The Saiyans' natural weakness would become a fatal flaw. If they couldn't survive in space, an enemy would only need to destroy the planet—and no matter how strong he was, death would be inevitable.
No matter what, Turles needed to eliminate this critical weakness first.
Hearing Turles's wish, Nail was somewhat surprised. He'd expected these evil Saiyans to wish for eternal life or immortality.
Nail translated Turles's wish to Porunga in Namekian.
After hearing the wish, Porunga remained silent for a long while. Just as Turles began to feel nervous, Porunga suddenly spoke: "I understand. I'll try!"
With that, the red glow in Porunga's eyes intensified.
