Chapter 164 - Mutant Cure?

"If the time is right, I will offer some assistance."

"But I suggest you seriously consider what you should do next."

Aaron's implication was that he could help within his means, but they shouldn't expect him to provide continuous aid.

Charles nodded.

Being as intelligent as he was, he naturally understood Aaron's meaning.

At this moment, a woman completely wrapped up rushed out from the side.

Charles frowned and said, "Anna, don't mess around."

Hearing this, Aaron realized that this girl was actually 'Rogue' Anna Marie.

Aaron felt that something was missing. He subconsciously glanced at her forehead and immediately realized what it was.

At this time, Anna did not have her iconic white hair.

However, what surprised him was that Anna looked much better than she did in the movies and her ability was quite good too.

She was one of Aaron's most important targets this time.

"Mr. A... Aaron."

Anna's face was flushed, both expectant and fearful.

Aaron smiled encouragingly. "Miss Anna, is there something you need?"

Anna became embarrassed by Aaron's smile.

She took a deep breath and hesitated. "I heard that Osborn... Aaron Industries possesses the most powerful genetic technology in the world?"

Aaron confidently said, "It's definitely number one and by a lot at that."

Aaron raised an eyebrow, already knowing what she was thinking.

Hearing such a domineering statement, the kids present gasped.

Though Scott strongly disliked Aaron, he had to admit that this was the truth.

Even the research conducted by the Mutant Academy was nowhere near Aaron's level.

Anna's face turned even redder, like a crimson apple.

"Then... can you research a serum that nullifies Mutant abilities?"

"Rogue!" Charles tried to speak.

Aaron, however, said at this moment, "Actually, this is not impossible."

"What!"

"Really!"

The former were the Mutants led by Charles, while the latter were Anna and some Mutant children dissatisfied with their terrible abilities.

"Mr. Aaron, are you saying..."

Charles turned his head to look.

Aaron asked doubtfully, "Don't you know? Worthington Labs is dedicated to developing a Mutant cure. I hear they have reached a critical moment."

"Relevant technology has achieved significant development."

"Worthington Labs?"

Charles frowned.

Trouble!

Hearing Aaron say this, the scene immediately erupted into chaos, like a noisy market.

Having superpowers is a cool thing, but if you're unlucky and awaken a terrible superpower, then it's certainly not a good thing.

William's child, Jason, is a typical example. Without the matching psychological strength to control such power, the final result was the destruction of his family, and he himself became a living serum and a machine devoid of self-emotion.

Take, for example, Anna right in front of him. After she touched a little rabbit and killed it, she had no choice but to wear gloves, wrap herself up tightly, and didn't even dare to date.

No one dared to approach her.

Everyone regarded her as a "Vampire" who stole the lives of others.

But if a Mutant could awaken good abilities like Storm or Magneto, everything would be fine. They would be cool and stylish, and many people would desire them.

However, fantasies are beautiful, but reality is cruel.

Most people are not protagonists. Their superpowers made it difficult for them to move forward in real society.

Anna hadn't expected that merely asking tentatively would yield such a huge revelation.

"So, my illness can be resolved?"

This sentence brought Charles back to his senses.

Charles, who had originally intended to start class, immediately changed his mind.

"Children, I will have a chat with Mr. Aaron. Would you please return to the classroom first?"

"Ororo, Scott, please take the children away first."

Charles smiled gently, though the smile was strained.

He suddenly remembered Aaron telling him about the importance of allies and friends.

In this instant, he understood.

If he had enough friends, he would have known about Waston Company's project progress long ago and prepared in advance, instead of being so incredibly passive now.

The other children were ushered away.

But Anna walked up to Aaron again and asked clearly, "Mr. Aaron, do you think the Mutant problem is a disease or a gift from God?"

Aaron shook his head. "Neither."

"Huh?" Anna was stunned.

Charles also looked over in surprise.

He had a feeling Aaron was about to say something extraordinary again.

Sure enough, Aaron's next sentence caused them both to freeze.

"As far as I know, your condition is likely related to the Celestials. All of this is an experiment by the Celestials."

"Celestials?!"

Jean and Gwen, who had been watching the drama unfold, were shocked.

They remembered one of Aaron's countless titles: Celestial!

Inside the office belonging to Charles.

Charles, Beast, Ororo (Storm), and Scott were all gathered together.

Aaron sat in the main seat, with Gwen and Jean sitting on either side of him.

In addition, there were Anna and Logan (Wolverine), who brought her over.

"Mr. Aaron, could you elaborate on the information you possess?"

Charles looked worried, becoming increasingly uncertain about the future of Mutants.

"Worthington Labs' cure, and the Celestials who created the Mutants..."

At this moment, Beast, who had just returned from the Mutant Affairs Department, was stunned when he heard the word Worthington.

"I have heard about Worthington Labs' cure. I heard they completed a crucial breakthrough, and it won't be long before they develop a serum that addresses the Mutant problem."

"I always thought it was a joke."

As the only Mutant working in a government department, Beast's information channels were stronger. But due to his Mutant identity, he was destined not to gain the trust of others.

To some extent, he was merely a focal point used by the higher-ups to stabilize the Mutant School.

However, Aaron's information sources included various high-level officials and S.H.I.E.L.D. If he wanted to know, few things happening on Earth could be hidden from him. He didn't need money, a set of newborn was enough.

"The critical technology Worthington Labs acquired is actually a Mutant who possesses the ability to suppress Mutant powers."

"When any Mutant enters a certain range near him, the X-Gene will lose its expression ability and they will temporarily return to normal."

"What Worthington Labs currently needs to do is extend this suppression effect as much as possible. Once successful, a single injection will be enough to turn a Mutant into an ordinary human."

Aaron snapped his fingers, and the relevant information was transferred to the computer in the office.

Ororo immediately stepped forward to check. After seeing the confidential document, those present were either happy, frowning, or wary.

Logan snorted, "We are not sick, we don't need treatment at all."

Ororo thought the same, but when she noticed Anna, her expression darkened slightly.

"If they only allow Mutants to voluntarily accept the injection, that's fine. I worry they will forcibly inject everyone with the serum. If that happens, a violent conflict will likely erupt."

Mutants like Anna would naturally be eager to receive the injection.

But perhaps many Mutants consider their powers cool, believing them to be a gift from God, and they would not want to lose their abilities, even if their powers are terrible.

Charles also thought of this. "What I worry about is Erik. Once he learns this news, he definitely won't let it go."

"I know him. Erik will certainly gather more Mutants and clash directly with Worthington Labs. At that point, the situation for Mutants will only get worse."

Beast looked at his long, blue, beast-like hair and fell into deep thought.

In his heart, he really hoped the antidote would succeed, but considering the Mutant standpoint, he also hoped the higher-ups' current actions would be slightly more moderate.

Even though he knew this possibility was very slim.
