Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Let The Party Begin

Yuki entered the boathouse, she had burn marks on her arms and hands and an out of place burnt star mark on her face. She seemed a little down from her sister's disappearance and sat in a corner by herself sipping on a drink.

"Leave us in the dust? With what? You think you're going to get some kind of special training because you're a Zenin and a Otizawa? Wow. Who didn't see that coming."

Tengoku loved and respected Shizu considering they grew up together and still stayed friends despite their families consistently clashing within the political, financial, social and criminal worlds, but he didn't really care for her spill right now.

He walked over to Yuki and noticed the burn marks. He frowned at them but still attempted to be approachable. He smiled and waved at her. "Hello. Glad to see you're alive and safe. The marks..I'm sorry about that."

"Zenin?" Raiden was confused from the Zenin part of her spill, he stopped before correcting her. "I'm not a Zenin. Yeah I'm an Otizawa but that shouldn't matter. We're both from weird families and get better training than most so what does it matter?" *

He watched the crowd move and enjoy the party. He was happy that at least some people were having fun. It was a good turnout. He stood up and turned to Shizu. "What's your story anyways? You basically know mine but I don't know yours. How is that fair?"

Yuki frowned at Tengoku. She wasn't trying to be pushy or an ass though so she responded to him. "It's cool. I just didn't think something like that would happen."

Shizukana laid back in her chair and looked at him. "There are minor families like yours. Even though the Otizawa are prestigious they weren't inherently at that level until your father assumed the throne. There's a small conglomerate of families that run this world."

"The Zenin, The Akiko and The Rakshasa and the Hatake. There used to be a family by the name of Uzamaki, but they've now combined with the Akiko into one big family in an attempt to destroy the other families. I come from the Rakshasa. A prestigious family who specialize in a variety of things. I guess I grew up in a restaurant. I used to fight with kitchen utensils actually for a very long time."

"Hey. First thing in the morning i'll try my best. I'll ask my family to get any word on it. They'll know something." He looked down at her. "Do you care if I sit with you?"

Sneaking up behind Shizukana and Raiden, Matsumi popped up out of nowhere and nearly yelled in both of their ears. "Hey, what are all of you doing just sitting around? Everything's better with more people!"

Shizu jumped at Matsumi and looked back at him. "Can I get something to drink before I start dancing?" She scowled at him but calmed down. She was thankful that Matsumi had helped them even if they didn't technically win. "I'll be over in a bit okay?"

Raiden looked at her curiously. He then turned to Matsumi who took him off guard, before answering Shizu. "Well cooking isn't bad. You could totally use those skills against someone." Raiden heard Matsumi and thought about joining them. He wasn't much of a dancer himself but it wouldn't hurt to let loose every once in a while. "I guess you're not wrong. I'll join you in a second." He nervously turned to Shizu. "Hey do you want me to get that drink for you? I mean I'm already up?"

Yuki side eyed Tengoku before answering his question, she wasn't trustworthy or too open right now but she conceded. "No. You can sit with me."

"That's not the premise of my Tokubetsu but for what it's worth knowing how to cook isn't a bad thing." She looked back at Raiden. "Yeah. I'd like that." She finally gave Raiden a smile, at least he was nice enough to offer.

"I don't mean to get in your way. I know it's a hard time for you. I swear to you we'll find her safe and sound though, even if it's the last thing I do." Tengoku sat next to her, looking at the scene of the party.

"Everybody is gonna get tired if you don't hurry. Less talking, more fun. Come on, Vermelha, it's your turn!" Matsumi had already made his way back to Vermelha and the party, trying to get everyone involved.

"If we lose this bag again Mr. Moon might not be the happiest with that. It's okay. You have fun alright?"

"It's ok this time, we have an excuse! If we lose it we'll just blame it on blondie over here." Referring to Raiden. "Win-win! Now, get over here! Who's gonna steal tea anyway?"

"People steal bags all the time. You know what? Fine. I could use something to drink anyways but..if it disappears don't get all sad." She sighed and stood up, stretching her legs, the jeans rising on her legs slightly.

Yuki sighed, her belief in others waning by the second. "I could just do it myself if I need to. I'll kill the dirty bastards that took her. Skin them alive and all."

Raiden went over to the drink table and waited for the drink dispenser to give him a drink. He leaned on the table and watched the party moving. He ignored Matsumi's comment even though he knew if he had to he could cover anything that got stolen.

"Skinning is a bit crazy but you know it's understandable. She's your sister after all." He looked down in embarrassment, partially because he realized Raiden was kind of right but he still put forth his best effort to make a new friend.

"It's never bad for others to help…who knows..sometimes people just..know things that you don't."

Shizukana waited patiently as she looked at the others dancing. She rolled her eyes, indifferent to the scene but at least she had possibly made a new friend.

While waiting for Vermelha to follow, Matsumi turned his head to Shizu. "Oh, no. You're not taking the easy way out." Noticing her indifference to the party just made him wish to include her even more. Wrapping his arm around her and pointing to the dancing.

"We're all having a good time! You don't get to be a loner today!" He started to pull her along.

Kasaru stood against one of the walls, just idly sipping his drink as he surveyed the room. He didn't really want to engage unless he was interacted with.

"You too buddy! Get on over here, dark haired guy!" Essentially screaming at Kasaru from the other side of the room.

Yuki looked at Tengoku. She stared into his eyes and all that could be seen was a damning lifelessness. Without her sister she couldn't be a happy go lucky person. She needed her sister because deep down she wanted to be the person for Cynil to rely on when it came to social interactions, fighting, anything you could possibly imagine. Letting her sister dissapear made her feel as if she had failed her sister.

"I've been to the underworld. I've seen what they do to people there. I've seen people get sold, people enslaved for money. I won't let that happen to Cynil. I'll hunt anyone down until I find where she is… someone took her. I know it. I saw it."

Raiden had waited long enough and the drink was done being filled. He turned fast and noticed Kasaru. He wanted to say something to him but he had to get the drink to Shizu first. His own greenish blue eyes glimmered with the flashing lights of the party. It started getting more and more wild due to Matsumi's antics. He had become entranced by the party itself, all these people and these random faces that he barely even knew having a good time.

Tengoku stopped for a second and looked at her with a silence. He stared back at her with the same eyes. It was nearly impossible to read him with the expression that he was making. It was no longer light in his eyes, nor darkness but simply nothing. Equal to tjay of a blank sheet of paper. He adjusted himself in his seat.

"I know that same world because my existence and the power that leaks from my fingertips are simply byproducts of it. In fact, that world to me is one hundred times more home to me than this one will ever be. However, I know something else about that world. Ridiculous things happen in that world every single day. Both good and bad. Miracles and Curses. Your sister may be in a dire situation. However, who's to say that she's inherently already been used? Who's to say she's been sold? Or harmed? Who's to say she's even in that world yet? I'll answer it for you for the sake of our conversation. You don't actually know. You don't see it because there's an infinite amount of possibilities in a finite world..and that's what's actually bothering you. I know that same emotion you're feeling now. One of ambiguous hopelessness for your loved one. I'm not one to ask for favors but i'll ask you one for the sake of your sisters wellbeing. Take it easy on yourself. If you truly believe in her strength, and who she is..and your family for that matter..then calm yourself here because regardless of her situation that's what she would have done and that's what she would have wanted out of you."

"Hey! Stop dragging people Matsumi! Just because you're dancing doesn't mean everyone has to!" Vermelha was trying to navigate through the crowd to grab him and stop him.

Shizukana got angry at Matsumi but once again held her tongue, simply looking for Raiden in the crowd because she still did want that drink. The life of the party started to grow as more and more students showed up. How did they even get word of this? What was even transpiring right now? Like actually? She hadn't been to a party like this in her entire life. She didn't necessarily understand how to feel about it. Regardless, she moved from Matsumi and searched for Raiden once more, getting lost in the crowd as the music started to feel louder, her heart beating faster. Shizukana's head started to spin. She felt dizzy from everything happening in front of her at once.
