Chapter 26 - Level 1

Red was beyond happy when he found the scroll. His excitement about getting a new skill was over the roof until he touched the scroll.

[Do you want to learn the Bleeding (Passive) skill?]

The name of the skill sounded familiar, and he immediately recalled the dire lupus and marget's skill. Both had the same skill: Bleeding Bite.

The new skill was just called Bleeding, and there was another word, which was called Passive. It was similar to his level 10 skill, Levelheaded, a passive skill.

He recalled the Bleeding's effect, which decreased his health over time. It was a good skill without a doubt, but that was not really useful in hunting.

When it came to hunting, he didn't have this kind of skill. He needed a skill that would help him kill his target quickly. However, it didn't mean it was not a good skill.

It was a good skill in a certain situation. If he ever met a beast that he could not kill in a few strikes. This skill would be useful, but not in hunting.

Of course, he was not going to refuse a skill. He just felt disappointed that the skill might not be useful in his hunting. He didn't bleed when he could finish off marget and dire lupus in one to three strikes.

Red knew what the Bleeding Status meant, but he didn't know the details. He quickly checked the skill details.

Bleeding (Passive)

Give 5% chance to apply Bleeding Status in the user's attack for five seconds. It can be stacked up to five times.

Description: Causes the affected to lose health over time.

Damage: (1 x bleeding stack) damage per second

The skill was under Tier 1 Skill. He understood the skill in general, but there was something that he tried to figure out. It was a 5% chance. What was the number implied?

It was a passive skill, meaning he could not use it like Appraisal. It worked like Levelheaded, in which he understood nothing about how the skill worked. One thing was for sure: Levelheaded helped him to think clearly in critical situations.

It was another thing that he could not understand that frustrated him. This pushed him to learn the human language; maybe the female human knew something about this 5% number.

The excitement over the new skill quickly went down. He just knew it might be useful someday, but not what he needed now.

He kept the last marget and absorbed 7 Might Cores. He had an anticipation of absorbing the Might Core from the level 2 beast. Most of the time, the level 1 marget increased his attribute by 0.4, and sometimes he would get 0.6 or even 0.8 increase. He had an expectation that this core would give him more attributes.

Red absorbed the first core as he had his status open. His Dexterity went up to max 10. His excitement returned with the thought of leveling up. He only needed to raise his Vitality to 10 from 7.8.

The second Might Core disappeared from his hand as his Vitality shot up to 8.2.

'This is it! If all cores give me a 0.4 increase, I will be able to max my Vitality!'

There were still five Might Cores in his hand, and if each gave him 0.4 increase, that would be enough.

He quickly absorbed the third Might Core, and his Vitality shot up to 9. His eyes widened in surprise, his lips curved into a grin, showing his sharp teeth. He continued with the fourth core, which gave him 0.4, and his fifth core gave him 0.6, which maxed his Vitality.

His eyes were glued to the status screen, and not long after, a new screen popped up. Not just one, but multiple notifications.

[You have met the requirement to level up by taking the Might Path!]

[Do you wish to take Might Path and level up?

[You have met the requirement to level up by taking the Magic Path!]

[Do you wish to take the Magic Path and level up?]

[You have met the requirement to level up by taking the Might & Magic Path!]

[Do you wish to take the Might & Magic Path and level up?]

Red expected the first two notifications, but he didn't expect the third one. It never crossed his head that he could take on both Might and Magic.

He was excited about the level up, but he didn't immediately make his decision right away. His curiosity to figure out how he was offered Might & Magic Path stopped him from choosing the Might Path right away.

It didn't take long for him to figure out why he was offered the third path. It is because he maxed out both Magic and Might. That was the only explanation for it to be offered.

However, that made Red think about whether there was a fourth path. He wondered if there were more paths than these three paths. That got him curious, but of course, he was not going to delay his level-up because of his curiosity.

Red took this time, considering the options. He quickly crossed the Magic Path, not willing to focus on the Magic Path since he knew nothing about it. It was between Might Path and Might&Magic Path.

He leaned into Might Path since he knew nothing about Magic. It was much safer to take a path that he knew of. However, there was one thing that bothered him until now. His Magic Attribute was high from the start.

He remembered that two out of four attributes were already maxed, and his Arcane Perception and Mind were at 8. That was much higher than his Might Attribute.

That might be a tell that he might have a talent for this Magic. The only thing he needed was a figure to teach him about Magic. He believed so since he started with his Magic Attribute so high.

That was the reason why he considered taking the Might & Magic Path. He didn't want to completely throw away the Magic Path that might be his strongest aspect.

It took him a while before he made his decision. His rational thinking was telling him to take the Might Path, the safer path. However, his instinct told him to take the Might & Magic Path. He chose the latter, taking the Might & Magic Path.

"I want to take the Might & Magic Path!"

There was this weird feeling where something entered his body. It was not weird in a bad way, but in a good way. There was a warm flow that went through his body, comforting and reinvigorating.
