As soon as the words left his mouth, Jameson's face changed abruptly.
Near the outer corners of his eyes, close to his temples, two patches of skin bulged outward, swelling grotesquely as if air were being pumped beneath them.
The veins beneath the skin stood out sharply, throbbing and writhing like living snakes. Jameson's eyes rapidly filled with blood; the whites that had once been visible were swallowed whole by a deep, violent red.
