Albert watched the female insect slowly approaching them, his guard fully raised as his mind raced.
At the very least, Wendy's body would not split apart into those disgusting, scattered flesh-worms. If she suddenly attacked, he still had a chance to bind her with webbing and escape with Hayes.
Doing his best to stay calm, Albert called out her name. "Wendy."
When she was about two meters away, Wendy stopped.
"Don't be nervous. I'm not going to kill you." As if she could guess what Albert was thinking, a trace of humanlike weariness suddenly appeared on her face. "I have no interest in eating people. And I know you came down here with my sister."
Albert turned his head and exchanged a look with the big cat lying behind him, silently communicating their emotions.
They could indeed sense that the female insect before them had no intention of attacking. She could also converse with them using human reasoning—which might be a good sign.
