Jefferson stared at the two bills his beloved assistant had finally found. A beaming smile spread across his handsome face. This way, his assistant would surely be furious with his friend for deceiving him earlier. Besides, he wouldn't have to go through the trouble of explaining everything to his assistant in person. He hadn't even expected his assistant to find the evidence so quickly, even though he had been searching for the two bills recently.
"Where did you find it?"
"Lisa gave it to me this afternoon when I was picking up documents. She accidentally found it while cleaning under the bed." Her arms were folded. "Why did you hide this from me?"
The corners of his lips lifted. "Do you know why I've gone to all these lengths?" He slowly walked toward his beloved assistant. His thumb now stroked her soft cheek. "Because you once told me you didn't like wearing my gift."
"Is that why you tricked me?"
