Chapter 16 - Star Rail Impostor! - 16

Acheron had spent two days on the Luofu.

Aside from the delves destroyed in the battle, the other intact delves had begun to regain some liveliness.

And because of Shuhu's complete and final death, the entire Xianzhou Alliance was swept up in jubilation.

Meanwhile, Acheron's interface showed a noticeable change:

[Name: Bai Ming (Acheron)]

[Lifespan: 95 years, 59 days, 53 hours (paused) + 29 days (Role-Playing)]

[Transformable Roles: Big Herta (Charge: 3.8%), Acheron]

[Available Draws: 0 (21.9%)]

It was a slow climb, but the numbers kept ticking up—and looked set to continue for a while.

After two days of rest and reorganization, the Xianzhou Alliance decided not to limit the news to major factions alone, but to publicly announce the death of the Abundance Emanator, Shuhu.

They especially highlighted the crucial assistance provided by the Galaxy Ranger, Acheron.

Because of that, Acheron found herself in high spirits as she watched the soaring numbers on her interface.

She had been worried earlier—how would outsiders believe that an unkillable being like Shuhu was truly gone?

To her surprise, the Xianzhou Alliance made the announcement with great fanfare, even releasing edited battlefield footage that prominently featured Shuhu's agonized, furious howls.

That greatly boosted the credibility of the report.

And so, Acheron had achieved her goal.

Her name really did appear in an Interastral Peace Corporation news broadcast.

Just when she thought she could simply laze around on the Luofu for the next twenty-some days, a sudden, sharp spike in the numbers gave her a start.

"...This kind of jump… must mean the real Acheron has seen it."

Acheron's expression turned subtly complicated.

--+--

At that very moment, passing by a certain commercial planet, the news about the Luofu's battle with the Emanator of Abundance Shuhu was blaring all around.

The real Acheron's lips curled into a slight smile.

"So… Lady Herta, you're saying this 'Acheron' in the news is actually an impersonator?"

For a moment, Acheron had thought she'd forgotten something again.

"You could say that~"

The automated doll chirped as it sent a bullet comment, practically being tricked into it.

Right now, Lady Herta herself had taken control of the doll and was studying this Galaxy Ranger with keen interest.

This woman really was traveling the cosmos under the identity of a Galaxy Ranger.

"To be honest, I'm curious—how can a human wield that kind of power? By all reasoning, it shouldn't manifest in just anyone."

But Herta's words caused Acheron, whose gaze had been somewhat vacant, to turn serious.

"Even if you are a genius, I must advise you: do not cultivate any curiosity about them."

"Alright, alright, no need to be so tense. Just a bit of professional habit. In any case, I came only to confirm the answer to a question. As for you… shouldn't a mischievous little one like that be caught and spanked?"

"Heh."

Acheron let out a soft laugh, as if seeing right through Herta's intentions.

So she claimed it was just to confirm an answer?

Coming all this way to deliberately share that information—wasn't it just to draw her attention to that person?

Still…

She did feel a little urge to see that impersonator for herself.

Half out of curiosity, half to check whether they showed signs of erosion by Nihility.

Acheron didn't know how this person recognized her or managed to imitate her to such an extent, but she understood all too well the dangers of Nihility.

No one, prepared or not, should recklessly touch that power.

As for catching and spanking…Acheron smiled faintly.

Whatever their intentions in wielding the power of Nihility, they were being far too rash.

They really did need a lesson.

"I'll go to the Luofu and see. And you, Lady Herta?"

"Me? We'll see."

Herta gave no definite answer before disconnecting from the doll.

The real Acheron lifted her head again toward the ongoing news broadcast, which now included a short, processed clip from the scene.

Even edited, that white-clad figure…

"So alike… even that power."

Despite the processed footage, just by observing the changes in Shuhu and his reactions, Acheron could tell—this was indeed a manifestation of Nihility.

"How peculiar. It's like gaining a little sister. Can two individuals in this world really be so similar?"

A trace of amusement flickered in Acheron's eyes.

Then, with a turn, she vanished from the spot in an inexplicable manner.

The Xianzhou Luofu hadn't yet reopened to civilian travel; ordinary astral navigation companies couldn't reach it.

She'd have to make the trip herself.

Fortunately, this region wasn't too far from the Luofu's starzone.

After noticing the jump in progress on her interface, she'd been anticipating the next one.

Yet, several days passed—even after Teng Xiao brought the Xianzhou Alliance's decision regarding the Ambrosial Arbor plan—without another significant spike.

Clearly, after the initial surprise of seeing the news, the real Acheron hadn't paid it much further attention.

"Hmm… how to put it? Feels somewhat expected, I suppose."

Acheron stood in the center of the yet-to-be-cleaned battlefield, murmuring to herself.

Across from her stood Jingliu, sword in hand, while Baiheng and Teng Xiao watched from the side.

Today, Jingliu had suddenly come to challenge her, but coincidentally, Teng Xiao arrived with the Alliance's deliberated outcome.

Though there had been opposing voices, the Alliance had agreed to Acheron's straightforward, even brutal, proposed method.

Moreover, the Marshal himself expressed gratitude to Acheron and contacted the Xianzhou Zhuming to commission a blade worthy of matching Acheron's own Naught.

It aligned perfectly with her original intentions.

--+--

Jingliu's challenge and Teng Xiao's business ended up overlapping, but to Acheron, neither amounted to much trouble.

So she accepted both, planning to settle them together.

That was how they ended up in this place.

Recently, the entire Luofu was caught up in celebratory fervor.

Despite the heavy losses, Shuhu's final extinction brought genuine joy to many Xianzhou natives.

The festivities were set to last a full month.

She didn't quite grasp the long-life species' sense of time, but because of it, this battlefield remained largely untouched after cleanup—still a ruin, with reconstruction not yet started.

That gave Jingliu space to swing her sword freely, and made it easier for Acheron to deal with the severed branch of the Ambrosial Arbor.
