DAMIAN TYLER!
The New York morning view is one of the best views. the sun shines into my room, harshly disturbing my peaceful rest. I knew then that my human alarm, oh sorry!! my mom was in the room. She's the only one who opens the curtains in the morning.
"Morning, Mom," I yawned and stretched, sitting up properly on the bed.
"Morning to you too. Quickly go and freshen up. The Senator's daughter, Liora, is here and I need you to accompany her," she said firmly in her authoritative voice, giving no room for objections.
Very typical of my mom to set me up without me even knowing.
"What?" My eyes almost popped out upon processing what I had just heard.
"Mom!! How could you? I have to be at the hospital by 1," I tried to reason with her.
"Then be with her until you have to go to the hospital," she said and found her way out of my room.
"Gosh," I hit my bed out of frustration. I really want to sleep in. I had a hectic day at the hospital yesterday, and I wanted to rest a little more before dealing with what today has to offer and my mom dropping this on me.
Ohhhh! I palm my face. Frustration is evident. Gritting my teeth together, I stood up and went to the bathroom.
In the bathroom, I faced the mirror to do my morning routine. I rinsed my mouth and wet my face. I took my facial soap to apply on my face. Just in case you're wondering, I'm very big on skincare I mean, this is what gets the ladies to turn their heads when I pass by.
"Oh my God! I've said so much without even introducing myself. Pardon my manners." It's just that this morning hasn't started the way I would like it to.
My name is Damian, Damian Tyler. You could call me loaded because I was born into money and I'm money myself. The Tyler Group is one of the companies that keeps the US economy running at large. Should the Tyler Group sneeze, the US will feel it. I'm a 25-year-old, tall, dark-skinned guy with muscles in the right places. It's no wonder when I walk by, girls giggle and some shriek. I'm sure one person somewhere is hoping that one day I'd go down on one knee and ask her to be mine. However, that is never going to happen. I'm off the market already. I found the bone of my bone my very own Eliana, Eliana Thompson. I like to call her Liana because it sounds so cute. I can imagine her face whenever we're together and a girl tries to get my attention. She'd furrow her brows together and then smile at the unfortunate one.
"Common girls, show some respect," she would say. That alone is enough to get the girls running with their tails between their legs. "Eliana always gives off a tough look even though she is a baby at heart." One could tell that her experiences in life have shaped her into who she is now. Regardless, I love my Liana just the way she is.
I stood in front of the mirror, dressed in dark blue pants with a white shirt and brown Armani shoes to match. A Patek Philippe wristwatch sat pretty on my left wrist. I checked myself one more time, and everything was screaming "money".
Upon getting to the living room, I heard voices. It was Liora and my mom. I guess Mom was trying to be a good host. Just before they saw me, I placed my phone to my ear, pretending as if something came up.
"Hello, Dr. Damian on the line."
"Oh yes, I'm on my way. I will be there soon."
"Give the patient a bag of saline, check the blood pressure, and run the necessary procedures on him."
I walked out of the house to the car garage. I could see my mom behind me, but I had no intention of waiting to say anything to her.
What if she asked me to take Liora with me to the hospital? I couldn't do that because I had plans with Liana today, and I wanted nothing to go wrong.
"Dami," I heard my mom call, but I pretended to be so invested in my call that I ignored her and quickly entered my blue Aston Martin. I love the color blue. Just so you know, one of the ways to my heart is getting me something in color blue.
The drive to the hospital was a smooth and effortless one. I drove into my personal parking space. Yeah ... I own a personal parking space because I own the hospital. I'm a double board certified neuro and cardiothoracic surgeon. In the surgery room, we handle lives, and for everyone who is saved, there's joy in my heart just like there's joy in heaven for every soul that is saved.
I'm not supposed to be here until 1 o'clock, but my mom made me come at 10 o'clock. Well, I still have 3 hours before my shift, so I'm just going to rest in the lounge. Maybe binge-watch a medical documentary.
The minute I stepped into the ER, I knew that there was no way I'd be able to rest or even binge watch any documentary. "Thank God you are here, Dr. Damian. There's a patient in ward 9 that needs to go into surgery immediately," one of the nurses said, looking at me as if I were a god or something. "Prepare the OR," I said as I walked away to get ready to scrub in.
After long, gruesome hours in the OR, we finally helped save a life.
"Congratulations, Dr. Damian," one of the assisting doctors said, and everyone clapped. I gave instructions to the doctor and walked out of the OR to clean up.
I got to my office and collapsed onto my couch. Yes, I'm so tired. So many hours of trying to rescue a patient from the jaws of death proved to be very difficult, but it was successful.
In front of me was a picture of my baby girl, Liana she was smiling brightly. This is exactly what I live for coming home from surgery to see her smiling face, and I can't wait to go home to her. I wonder when I can pop the question to her. I want to wife her up so bad. My girl is drop dead gorgeous, and sometimes I fear that someone will take her away from me.
Speaking of which, I haven't spoken to her all day either. I know she has a court hearing today. I pray she wins. I picked up my phone to see that my baby has texted me. Oh my! I missed it.
Wow! Time has flown by I didn't even notice. Let me give her a call. Ring, ring...
The phone rang twice and I connected it.
"hi baby" I greeted, wrapping my hand tightly around my phone pressing it tightly to my ear. I need to hear the sound of her beautiful voice clearly.
"hi, my love". I heard her lovely voice over the phone. It was so soft and tender. I have never met anyone who adores me like Liana. She always says that hearing my voice is enough to make her day, so I can imagine how happy she is right now.
"I just called to check, how did hearing go".
"Trust your baby" she said happily and asked about me too.
"Are you ready to go? I asked. "In fourty minutes" she replied. "Alright, I will be there in 40 minutes then".
"Okay" the line went off...
I grin from ear to ear. Liana always make me feel peaceful. Alright, it's time to go. I picked up my car keys ready to go.
I got to the ER and it was abort mission. I was dragged by one of the nurses to check on a patient again.
Apparently, all doctors are currently working and I happen to be only one available.
"There's been an accident. It seems like he has a heart problem too" one of the nurses briefed me. I check on the patient, and discover that we have to operate.
"Prepare the OR" I instructed and quickly went to scrub totally forgetting that I was meant to be somewhere , picking up Liana from the Office.
Minutes spiralled into long hours and finally we completed the surgery.
By the time, I came out of the OR , it was already 11 o'clock. I checked my phone only to see so many calls from Liana.
" Shit! Our date. I was supposed to pick her up" I gritted my teeth. Today was supposed to happen.
I was supposed to take out so we can just chill and be together . How could I forgotten, I stood her up. I wonder how she must have felt. I dialed her number on my phone. It connected in just three rings.
"How did the surgery go? I heard her say the minute she picked up the call. "Fine baby" i said with hint of guilt of in my tone.
She doesn't mind anymore. Before she would have complained but now she is not saying anything again.
"Liana, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to stand you up.
Infact I was already on my way when I got the ER and I got pulled back into surgery again.
Please I'm sorry Liana".I pleaded with her, though she still isn't saying anything yet.
"It's okay babe,we can reschedule.Hope you're not too tired. How do plan on going home? Should I come and get you?" She asked over the phone.
Honestly, the way she cares makes me feel more guilty. I feel like I don't love her as much as she loves me. Her love for me shows in everything she does.
"No baby, my driver is on the way." I took my car keys and sauntered out of the hospital building. My driver was standing right in front of my car so I tossed him the key as I climbed in.
All through the journey, Liana and I spoke the whole time.
Upon getting home, Liana told me she had to go and just like the phone went off.
Oh,what a day! I collapsed into my bed.
