Chapter 9 - Back home

"I think I should probably get going to San Diego. It was nice knowing you, you're quite the admirable figure. The best head House Veyra could ask for," Kael said, "Lyra, you should learn a thing or two from Kael. he always manages to make me smile."Lyra rolled her eyes at her mother's comment. But what she did say was true. Ever since Kael got their house, her mother had always been in a good mood. "By the way, Kael, in two months, there's going to be a tournament for people who would like to join the new secret order, a branch of the King's Moon Nights. It's a good way of gaining recognition. "I hate to disappoint you, Lady Seraphina, but I wish to keep a low profile, plus I don't think I'm strong enough yet. "Don't worry, Kael, I understand you."Kael said his final goodbyes and was escorted by Lyra to leave for San Diego. "How are we going to get back to San Diego? "I'll just teleport there using House Veyra's special ability Mirrorfield. "What about anyone else who would like to go to the human world? "Well, we capitalize on that. It's one of our sources of income. People pay us for our teleportation services. "That's interesting to know. "You're going to be a hot topic when we get back. I hope your parents will be able to recognize you." Lyra said, chuckling. The look on Kael's face spoke volumes. It said, "I didn't even think of that."Let's just go, I'm tired. I'll deal with all the nitty-gritty when we get there with a swift motion of her fingers. Lyra activated her power, which sent them straight to Lyra's mansion in San DiegoKael wished to go straight home, but it was dead in the night, so he had to make do with staying at Lyra's house. A room was prepared for him. When he got there, he threw himself onto the bed and let himself drift off to sleepKael emerged into an endless, completely white world. In there, he had discovered that he could train and formulate new powers without having to show anyone. The white world was already weird to Kael, but what was stranger was a certain ability he had stumbled upon, which allowed him to create different personalities. He could use those personalities on himself, his servants, or people who were willing to let Kael take control of them. This was a bit disturbing for Kael, so he decided not to dwell too much on itHe was on a mission to create an appraisal ability and an ability tracker for himselfHe would use the appraisal ability to enhance his senses and also have a gist of how strong his opponents wereThe tracker's ability was based on an anime he had watched; it would display his various skills, and he also decided to add a section to show his subordinates and their abilities. It was a long shot, but it was worth it if it worked. The white world was peculiar in that it only caused mental fatigue, leaving Kael's body completely rested. With his newly acquired abilities, he found he could sustain a week-long period of intense mental activity without needing rest.Night passed, but Kael wasn't aware of this; he only woke up after Lyra had been shaking him for thirty minutes straight. He opened his eyes to see Lyra sitting on him, looking at him quizzically. "What took you so long?" Lyra asked, a playful glint in her eyes. Kael blinked, trying to clear his head. The white world felt like a distant dream. "I... I don't know. I think I was just... thinking." He mumbled, still a bit groggy. Lyra chuckled, a soft, melodic sound. "Thinking about what, love?" she teased, leaning closer. Kael felt his cheeks flush. "Nothing important," he said, trying to sound casual. But as he looked at Lyra, a strange sense of connection washed over him. The world seemed to shrink, and it was just the two of them, suspended in a moment of unspoken understanding. "Anyway, prepare yourself, I'm going to drop you off later today. Since it's Thursday, I would advise you to resume your studies next week." Kael thought about the events of the past few days, the strange white world, and the abilities he had discovered. He knew his life was about to take an interesting turn. He smiled, a genuine, hopeful expression that lit up his face. The future was uncertain, but he was ready to embrace it.He took a cold shower and wore one of the fits Elara had given him. It was an elegantly tailored suit. Kael had planned to get more of the same. He had grown accustomed to it. After his shower, he noticed a small, intricately carved wooden box on his bedside table. Curiosity piqued, he gently opened it. Inside, nestled on soft velvet, was a silver locket. It was cold to the touch, and he could feel a subtle energy emanating from it. He carefully took it out; the locket felt strangely familiar, as if he had held it before. As he opened it, a tiny, faded photograph fell out. The image showed a young woman with kind eyes and a warm smile, someone he felt an immediate connection to, even though he didn't recognize her. Who was she? And how did she know him? The questions swirled in his mind, adding another layer of intrigue to his already fascinating new reality. Kael closed the locket, a knot forming in his stomach. He knew, with a certainty that bypassed logic, that this woman was incredibly important to him, perhaps even more so than he could currently fathom. He placed the locket back in the box, a silent promise forming in his heart – he would find out who she was and unravel the mystery surrounding them both. The image of her kind eyes and warm smile burned into his memory, a beacon guiding him towards an unknown future, one filled with both peril and profound possibilities. He had lunch with Lyra as it was already noon before they headed out. They hopped into the back of the luxurious car and drove to Kael's houseKael murmured a short prayer before knocking on the door. He expected Luna, their maid, to open up, but to his surprise, it was his mother, Kaels' mother, Lisa, who looked up at the tall man standing before her. His facial structure was familiar. She wanted to believe it was her son, but he couldn't have grown that tall in six months, considering that he was twenty-one. The man before her possessed a striking resemblance to Kael, yet there was a noticeable difference in his height and overall presence. Lisa's heart beat with a mixture of hope and confusion. Was this truly her son, or was she simply grasping at a familiar face in the face of the unexpected? The situation was certainly bizarre, and the uncertainty gnawed at her."Hi, Mom, it's me, Kael. I'm back." Lisa stared, her eyes wide with disbelief. The words, so simple and yet so laden with unexpectedness, hung in the air, thick with emotion. A strange warmth bloomed in her chest, a mixture of relief and utter bewilderment. Could it be? Could the tall, almost foreign-looking man before her really be the son she hadn't seen in six months? The Kael she knew, the boy with the mischievous grin and kind eyes, seemed to be reflected in his features, yet something felt… different. A subtle shift in his posture, a newfound gravitas in his expression, hinted at a transformation she couldn't quite grasp. A silent question warred with a desperate hope in her heart as she tried to piece together the puzzle of his return.Kael's father emerged from the living room, his eyes immediately locking onto Kael. A warm smile spread across his face as he recognized his son. "Hey, Kael, long time no see," he said, his voice thick with emotion, and moved forward to offer a comforting embrace. Lisa watched in surprised admiration as Randy effortlessly recognized their son. Together, they enveloped Kael in a tight, loving hug, a testament to the enduring bond of family."Did you become a model or something, Kael?" his father said, looking at him. Kael chuckled, a hint of amusement in his voice. "Maybe a little bit of both, Dad. Things have been… different, to say the least." His mother, Lisa, stepped forward, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of curiosity and pride. "Tell us everything, sweetheart. We need to know what's been going on with you." Kael smiled, a genuine warmth radiating from him. The reunion had been surreal, a comforting anchor in the midst of his extraordinary journey. He knew it was time to share the incredible story of his transformation, the white world, and the extraordinary abilities he had discovered. The anticipation in his parents' eyes fueled his determination. He was ready to open up, to finally share the truth, and to begin this new chapter together. He was to tell them everything, but he decided to omit some things for their own sanity.
