The room's emergency light clicked on as the main power flickered.
The attackers were almost at the other group of guards now.
Eli stopped and then with large steady strides, he stepped into the hallway.
Ra cursed and followed.
"Eli."
But Eli was already walking towards the centre of the commotion.
One of the attackers turned, surprised to see someone step into the open like that.
He lifted his weapon.
Eli closed the distance in three steps.
The attacker's arm snapped sideways.
The gun hit the wall and clattered to the floor.
Before the man could react, Eli drove his knee into the attacker's abdomen, grabbed the back of his jacket, and threw him hard into the second attacker.
Both of them crashed into the opposite wall.
Ra froze.
So did everyone else.
The second attacker recovered faster, lunged with a blade.
Eli pivoted, caught the wrist, and twisted it.
Bones cracked.
The knife dropped on the floor with a clang.
Eli slammed his elbow into the man's throat.
