Inara stood at the front of the huge gates looking smaller than she was with a lone tear sliding down her cheek. Her face was already red from the harshness of the wind that kept howling.
She had stood there for close to thirty minutes already after her father left in a hurry after dropping her off, leaving behind only the fumes of the car.
She still remembered the call her father received before hurriedly helping her alight from the car.
Her stepmother had been screaming through the phone. The baby was coming. There were multiple voices all at once, maybe some were from their workers or maybe nurses.
Then maybe the doctor or nurse shouted something in the background.
"It's a boy!"
Her father's face changed in that moment. He was overwhelmed with emotions, and she wondered if the face had the same expression when she was brought into this world, not that it mattered to know anymore.
