Chapter 56 - The Final Chapter of Revenge, the Withering Testament

"What you say is indeed very attractive, my father." Chadnoma held Grand Makinos tightly, his strength causing Grand Makinos' bones to ache.

Grand Makinos struggled in terror, but his strength was insignificant compared to his son's. Chadnoma lowered his head, close to his father's shoulder. This action made Grand Makinos tremble all over, while Chadnoma laughed, his whole body shaking.

"But Father, can you tell me why your voice is trembling as you say these words? You've been a ruler for so long, have you forgotten how to lie?"

Grand Makinos desperately tried to break free from Chadnoma's grasp. He had realized that Chadnoma had no intention of letting him go. From beginning to end, he only wanted to avenge himself.

Feeling Grand Makinos's helplessness, Chadnoma laughed cruelly and pressed down on his head, his sharp fangs tearing viciously into his neck. He didn't use his strange tongue to infect his father. Instead, he bit through his artery like a true beast.

"I will give you true death, not my endless pain. Thank me, Father. This is your son's revenge, and it is his last gift to you."

Thick green blood flowed out, the concentrated life of Grand Makinos over a thousand years. And this life had reached its end.

Despite desperately covering the wound on his neck with his hands, he couldn't stop the loss of his life. Grand Makinos made a final effort. He used his last strength and staggered toward his daughter, who had been standing there all along.

"Through the transmission of blood, our lives will endure." Reciting the ancient words of the Vampire Race, the dark green blood coalesced into its final strength, forming crimson characters on Grand Makinos' fingertip. It was one of the oldest Incantations of the Vampire Race, a magic used by the elders of the Vampire Race, whose bodies were about to die, to merge their lives and will onto their servants.

According to the ancient laws of the vampires, this magic of forcibly seizing the body of a fellow clan member could only be used by the Vampire Race elders, and only on the vampires they had converted. But to survive, Grand Makinos could no longer care about such laws. He wanted to be reborn in his daughter.

The power of magic condensed all his life and blood into a drop of emerald green Essence Blood. He held this drop of Essence Blood with his fingertip, using his last bit of strength to point towards Nisha. Once the Essence Blood touched Nisha's body, it would merge with her. Until the next full moon, he would be reborn in Nisha's body.

This was his last hope of survival, but facing this hope, Nisha retreated without hesitation.

Grand Makinos crawled forward unwillingly, desperately trying to touch Nisha's shoes with his fingertip. But just as he was about to touch them, Nisha retreated again.

"Let this impure bloodline end here, Father," said Nisha. Makinos calmly took off the ring representing the Makinos Family from her hand and threw it into the filthy blood of her father.

Grand Makinos's parched throat could no longer make any sound, he looked at his daughter with resentment. His cloudy eyes slowly turned a stone-like gray-white. This change was not only in his eyes, but it appeared all over his body.

Having lost the Essence Blood that held all his strength, his already decaying body completely collapsed, like broken limestone in the cool air. It crumbled bit by bit into fragments, turning into dust.

Having completed his revenge, Chadnoma roared, his voice like that of a wounded beast. Pain and despair filled him; he had no goals left in his life. All he could do was wait, wait for the end of his life.

He turned silently, not looking at the powder on the ground. Like a walking corpse, Chadnoma headed towards the rooftop. He wanted to see the Sun, the existence a vampire could never touch, in his final moments.

However, Nisha stopped him.

"Wait, brother!" Her eyes were like stagnant water, showing no emotion.

Chadnoma turned back, looking at his sister, who was far luckier than he was, wondering what she wanted.

"Kill me, brother!" Nisha lifted her black hair, exposing her snow-white neck to Chadnoma.

Chadnoma sneered.

"Our father desperately wanted to live, to hold onto his power forever. And now, you have everything he had, yet you want to end it all here?"

"The filthy bloodline still flows through my veins; you can't end everything for the Makinos Family unless you kill me."

Chadnoma stopped, turning back to ask his sister.

"Are you sure? Isn't there anything you'll miss?"

"I made my decision the moment everything Father wove for me became a false illusion." Nisha closed her eyes. "I shouldn't have existed from the start. Vampires are just a tragedy in this world."

Chadnoma walked in front of Nisha and gently touched her face.

"You're very much like our mother. Perhaps you're right. It's time to end this filthy bloodline and let you return to her embrace."

Seeing Nisha nod silently, Chadnoma opened his mouth wide, his deadly tongue already biting into her neck. The virus injected into her body felt like a burning line of fire coursing through her veins. This intense pain, felt everywhere, completely robbed her of the ability to move. She could only collapse softly to the ground.

"You have six hours. Someone will come to end your life after six hours. Think about it, what regrets do you have in your life?"

Watching Nisha, who was still convulsing, Chadnoma quietly turned and left. He still wanted to find a good spot to watch the sunrise.

Nisha lay on the ground, her eyes blankly staring at the silent blackness of the ceiling. The pain tormented her body, forcing her to scatter her thoughts and use aimless imagination to alleviate the suffering.

And as she did so, she found that her life was filled with too many regrets. She had never experienced a life like a normal woman, shopping, making friends, falling in love, or even getting married and having children. Looking back on her life, she realized that she seemed to have spent it entirely in a dark, ancient castle. Blood and conspiracies were all that surrounded her.

All of this might have been the fault of Grand Makinos, but more of it stemmed from her identity. Just as she thought, vampires in this world might really be a tragedy.

Crisp footsteps sounded in her ears, and Nisha tilted her head slightly. What she saw was a black figure.

"Is my father's methods that powerful? To have driven an existence like you to this state," Nisha asked, because Zhou Yi looked much more disheveled than he had at the start. His cloak was long gone, and his armor had large areas of distortion, deformation, and even cracks. Although the nano-metal was constantly repairing itself, it was like a drop in the bucket for the damaged parts.

"Your father's methods refreshed my understanding. It's a pity he's dead. Otherwise, I would have personally explained the shock within me to him," Zhou Yi was as flippant as ever, although it seemed more like he was trying to amuse Nisha.

Nisha smiled softly, as if Zhou Yi was talking about an unrelated person. Putting aside all identities and concerns, what she showed at this moment was the elegance and composure of a woman who was calmly facing everything.

"It's a shame, really. I won't get to see all of this. Opportunities to see you embarrassed are rare."

Zhou Yi felt a twinge of pity as he watched the Vampire woman, who knew him perhaps better than anyone, wither like a dying flower. She had nothing to do with any of this from start to finish. Her only mistake was being born into that family. It was all a mistake of fate.

He lowered himself, cradling Nisha's head in his arm, and teased gently,

"If you can wait, I think you'll see what you want on the morning news in London. Although I fought quite fiercely, I definitely didn't stop those photography enthusiasts from taking pictures."

"Really? Then they're very lucky." Nisha smiled gently, her already pale skin beginning to turn even paler. "Unfortunately, my time seems to be running out. Can you tell me what time it is?"

Zhou Yi looked up, the power of the Sun flowing into him. Generally speaking, it was already sunrise by now.

Chadnoma's relieved roar echoed from above, signaling the complete extinction of a race. He had kept his promise, and after avenging himself, he had also ended everything himself.

Listening to Chadnoma's last words in the world, Zhou Yi took off his helmet and said this to Nisha.

"It seems unfortunate, today doesn't seem like a good day. Your brother is already yelling."

Nisha tried to force a smile, but the pain in her body made it impossible. She could only manage a slight pull at the corner of her lips, speaking to Zhou Yi.

"It sounds ridiculous, but in the end, I think you're the only friend I have in my life."

"Although I have high standards for friends, congratulations, I recognize you as a friend." It wasn't because of lust for her beauty, but genuine feelings for a friend that made Zhou Yi try to bring her as much joy as possible in her final moments.

"Really? That's great." Nisha blinked. "So, my hero friend. Can you promise me something?"

"Let's be clear, I can't do anything too difficult." His tone was always cynical, but it was filled with a heavy heart. "I want to see the Sun in a beautiful place, while I'm still beautiful. Can you promise me?" He couldn't refuse Nisha's request. He picked her up in a princess carry and gently took flight. A Telekinesis shield that could bend light blocked the Sun's rays, and he carried Nisha higher and higher, gradually disappearing into the layers of clouds. After a long time, at an altitude of millions of feet, Zhou Yi stopped, holding Nisha. Beneath his feet was the magnificent blue Earth, and in the distance, the golden Sun embraced everything selflessly. Although protecting a person from the Earth at such a great distance with Telekinesis was a huge test for him, he had no regrets.

This was the only thing he could do for a friend who was about to leave.

"So beautiful!" Looking at the golden Sun and the blue Earth, Nisha exclaimed. "It's enough, thank you. My friend. If there's a next life, I hope I can know you as a human. And, you can let go now."

Watching Nisha, who had already closed her eyes, Zhou Yi slowly released his hand. Her gentle body left his embrace, floating in the endless space. Sunlight shone on her, and the dark blue flames wrapped around her body like a long dress. Slowly, slowly, until she disappeared completely.

Zhou Yi silently watched all of this, until she was completely gone from sight. He didn't know what his feelings were now; the weight of fate pressed down on his heart, making him feel so powerless for the first time.

Suppressing his emotions, he plunged into the Earth. The judgment from Dawn hadn't ended yet. Even for this friend who had departed, he had to bring this tragedy to a complete end.
