"You bastard, put me down. I'm going to kill you." Logan roared, and as a guy who couldn't die, he was never afraid of making a bigger scene. You could say that courting death was something he was used to. With his immortality, Logan was just that willful.
However, some people couldn't stand it anymore. Jean Grey, seeing Logan's miserable state, which was exactly the same as Scott's back then, ultimately couldn't bear to watch him being bullied like this. She found an excuse and spoke to stop it.
"Yi, can you calm down for a moment? What's the point of you doing this?"
Of course, there was no point. In fact, because of the Professor's request, it was Zhou Yi himself who got pulled into a troublesome vortex. From a certain perspective, he was the real victim.
"You should know, I didn't start this." Shrugging his shoulders, under Jean Grey's dissatisfied gaze, Zhou Yi slowly put Logan down. As soon as he landed, Logan immediately charged over, as if he was going to continue his three-hundred-round battle with Zhou Yi.
Jean Grey used her telekinesis to stop him, and at the same time, she was using some kind of mental ability to soothe his enraged mind. But with Zhou Yi present, it seemed her soothing didn't have much effect. So Jean Grey could only ask this.
"Yi! Could you leave for a while? If you don't mind, you could take my place and give the children a lesson or something. Logan's mental state needs to be stabilized, and I can't do this work with you here."
Looking at Logan's eyes, which were about to spew fire, and Jean Grey's imploring expression, Zhou Yi could only nod.
"Alright, since you asked, I'll give being a teacher a shot. Just relay the message if Ororo gets back. But, Jean, be careful!" Zhou Yi said, stopping there. He picked up his coat, turned around, and pushed open the door, walking out.
Jean Grey felt Logan's mental agitation surge with Zhou Yi's departure, then slowly subside. It was like someone who reached the limit of their anger; if they didn't erupt, they would calm down. Logan had also begun to control his emotions.
"Logan, you were too impulsive." Slowly withdrawing her mental power, Jean Grey directly criticized Logan's temper. He started a fight at the slightest provocation and ended up in this state. He even needed her to bail him out; this was not how a mature man should act.
Logan gasped, his chest heaving. After a long while, he steadied his breathing and asked Jean Grey, puzzled, "You said he's not a mutant? Then what about his abilities?"
Jean Grey frowned; Logan's questioning made her feel a little uncomfortable. But she still patiently explained, "Yi is a very rare natural superhuman, not one of us mutants. There are more superpowered people in this world than just us."
Hearing Jean Grey's explanation, Logan's eyes drifted. A fragment surfaced in his chaotic memories: amidst a storm of bullets, a man holding a shield charged towards the enemy lines in front of him. Suddenly, he turned back and seemed to shout something at him, but Logan couldn't hear what he said.
He began to desperately recall this fragmented memory, but he couldn't remember the specific details. Soon, even this memory fragment blended into his chaotic memories, never to be found again. This fuzzy feeling about his memories made Logan extremely irritable; he even directed this emotion toward Jean Grey.
"You should have told me earlier!" He waved his hand irritably, still immersed in the search for that memory. He didn't even notice the dissatisfaction in Jean Grey's eyes.
Being made a scapegoat for no reason isn't something to be happy about, especially when it's coming from the real culprit. Jean Grey's personality prevented her from calling out Logan at this moment, but it unconsciously made her impression of Logan even worse. A woman's heart is never very broad.
Zhou Yi, who was always very confident, wasn't worried about what would happen between Logan and Jean Grey at this moment. He could suppress Scott, and naturally, he could also suppress this Wolverine. He believed that Jean Grey knew who would be the best choice.
So he naturally walked into a classroom and smiled at a group of young people inside who looked at him with some surprise, saying,
"Good morning, everyone. Your teacher, Jean, has some small matters to deal with today, so I'm here to take her place for this class." He looked at the psychology textbook in a student's hand. "Psychology class!"
The students below looked at him and began to whisper. The most obvious of these were Sharisse and her group of friends, who he had seen that morning. They probably wouldn't have thought that this kind of parent-substituting-for-teacher situation would happen.
Of course, one student's performance was beyond Zhou Yi's expectations, and that was the little fire user. He sat upright and looked at Zhou Yi, looking exactly like a good student. Of course, it would be better if he could remove the fanaticism in his eyes.
"Quiet down, girls, boys. Especially you, Sharisse, your vacation is still under negotiation, there's no need to be so excited." Zhou Yi ruthlessly poured cold water on Sharisse, trying hard to act as a qualified teacher.
"Can anyone tell me what kind of lessons Miss Jean gave you in the last class? Because I came in a hurry, we haven't discussed your course progress yet."
Whispers and Sharisse's quiet complaints rippled through the students, but someone was willing to answer Zhou Yi's question.
"Sir, Miss Jean Grey asked us to consider the impact of human psychology on the lives of mutants," said John again, though Zhou Yi didn't like his gaze. However, Zhou Yi was grateful to him, as his help prevented the situation from remaining awkward.
"Thank you for your help, young man. Alright, let's continue this topic." Zhou Yi sat down casually on the podium. "First, let me introduce myself. I am the lively young lady, Sharisse's, older brother. Many years ago, when I came to this academy for an examination, I was disappointed. I am not a mutant."
The news was like a pot of boiling water, shocking everyone. Many started asking Sharisse what was going on, while others eyed him with caution.
Clapping his hands hard to quiet the room, Zhou Yi continued to address the young people below.
"Perhaps you're curious why I'm here to substitute for your teacher and give this lesson, especially since I'm not one of you. Before we consider that question, allow me to finish my introduction."
Zhou Yi's calm demeanor and gentle temperament quickly calmed the young people's small movements. As mutants who were quite confused about their future, they did feel like they needed to hear from the human perspective.
"My previous statement was just to bridge the gap between us. See, I have my closest person among you, so you don't have to look at me like a deer seeing a hunter. I am harmless!"
Holding up his hands in a "I'm harmless" gesture, Zhou Yi's performance made some of the younger ones chuckle, and the others relaxed their guard a little. After all, as Zhou Yi said, there was no need to be wary of Sharisse's family. In this regard, Zhou Yi was benefiting from his sister's reputation.
"So, we can continue." He clapped his hands to get everyone's attention again. "As I just said, I'll finish my self-introduction. What I just told you was only part of it. The other part is that I have another identity, one that is considered quite prominent in human society."
"I am the third shareholder of Stark Enterprises, and one of the decision-making shareholders of Osborn Corporation. I have about twenty large research institutions under my name, and several publicly traded companies with good market performance. If any of you like baseball, I am also the owner of the Colorado Rockies, although I bought the team at the time just to see if this young team could give me a surprise and win a major league championship. But so far, I haven't received any good news from the team."
At this point, the younger ones below were all listening attentively. This proved that whether they were mutants or humans, they were essentially the same. When faced with truly successful people, even if they usually acted disdainful, they would still sit quietly and listen to these successful people's lectures.
For no other reason than that such lectures were guaranteed, those amazing qualifications and background were the guarantee.
"I'm not saying this to show off to you, in fact, I'm past that age. Compared to you, I seem a little too old." Zhou Yi made a self-deprecating joke and continued his lecture.
"The reason I'm saying this is to use my identity to tell you, the status of mutants in the eyes of humans and what they should do."
"You may not think I have the qualifications to represent humanity, but I want to tell you that the direction of human society is basically in the hands of people like me. I don't need to explain my itinerary in detail, because I'm a bit of an exception. But I can tell you that if I wanted to, it wouldn't be a problem to sit down and discuss current affairs with the leaders of this country in a calm and collected manner."
"Our opinions basically represent the opinions of this society, because in reality, the right to speak is only in the hands of people like us. Don't forget the true meaning of democracy: the people only have the right to speak, but not the right to make decisions. So, do you want to know what kind of people mutants are in our eyes?"
Zhou Yi looked at the students below, who were all listening attentively, even little Sharisse. A look of satisfaction appeared on his face. He seemed to have found a sense of pleasure in being a teacher.
"Let me put it this way, to us, mutants are actually no different from anyone else. If you need money to support your life, you eat, drink, play, and have fun, and you can consume and contribute in this society. Then you are no different from those ordinary people."
At this point, a buzzing sound came from below, a chaotic and noisy sound. Zhou Yi even heard someone fiercely accusing him of lying.
Pressing down his hand, he waited for the excited emotions of these young people to calm down before he continued.
"Do you think I'm lying? No. I can guarantee I'm not. So, do you want to know why your lives have become this way? I can tell you where the problem lies."
"There are really only two problems. Look at yourselves, and think about the difference between you and those normal people. That's the first problem: difference. Also, there's another problem. This problem also appears on you, and it's called reputation!"
