Chapter 111 - Fatal Throw, Undying Witch

Watching those soldiers hesitating, unwilling to take another step forward, Zhou Yi wore a look of disdain. If American soldiers were all like this, no wonder they were called wastes of taxpayer money.

Feeling the same way as Zhou Yi was General Stryker, the highest-ranking officer of these soldiers. The incompetence of his soldiers made him feel that his own reputation had suffered a great blow, especially when facing his most hated enemy. Shame and hatred surged into his heart, tormenting him like fire.

"Continue! What are you hesitating for? They're just a bunch of Mutants! What's there to be afraid of? Keep firing! Level that place for me!" he viciously issued the order.

To the soldiers, orders were absolute. They suppressed their unease and fear, and once again loaded and fired a volley towards Xavier's Mansion. However, everything was the same as before. The RPG Rockets vanished in mid-air, turning into torches and disappearing into nothingness.

"Sir, something's not right. Shouldn't we think of another way?" The adjutant cautiously suggested. Anyone with eyes could see that this method of attack was doing nothing but wasting ammunition.

"Don't stop the firepower! Have the soldiers attack from other directions, and the helicopters attack from above. Also, bring up the armored vehicles." Stryker began to launch his attack without regard for the cost. For him, this was one of the most important parts of his plan. No matter how high the price, it was acceptable to ensure that this part went without a hitch.

Under his orders, the armed helicopters began to take off and advance towards Xavier's Mansion. Armored vehicles and tanks also advanced towards it. The RPG Rockets were fired almost without stopping. The soldiers, under the cover of night, snuck towards other locations of the mansion. Almost instantly, this place became a battlefield of modern warfare.

Zhou Yi, while continuing to use his Force Field to eliminate the barrage of RPG Rockets, grabbed a newly removed staircase post and threw it at an armed helicopter that had entered the battlefield. The power of the staircase post in his hands far exceeded that of the Holy Crusade Organization's RPG Rockets. The armed helicopter didn't even have a chance to dodge before it turned into a pile of twisted scrap metal in mid-air.

The twisted, deformed scrap metal obviously couldn't fly any further with its propellers, so Zhou Yi wasn't at all surprised when it crashed to the ground. This was just a small trick of his, and it was an excellent choice to use it to buy time.

Moreover, from any perspective, trading a few pieces of wood, worth at most a few dozen dollars, for a bunch of helicopters worth millions of dollars was a profitable deal.

Watching one plane after another fall, Zhou Yi even found it felt like playing Whac-A-Mole. Of course, the cost was rather high. However, he didn't need to pay this expensive price at all.

Just as he was enjoying himself, Logan's voice came from behind him.

"The children have been moved through the secret passage, and it's just us now. What do you want to do?"

"Of course, leave here. Do you want to play a whole night of games with these soldiers? I don't have that kind of time." Zhou Yi glanced at the area behind the soldiers' position, where the general's face was extremely ugly. He quipped, "Maybe if we keep playing like this, the general will be unable to resist using the big guns to greet us."

Logan looked at the scene outside the window, and his pupils contracted when he saw the wreckage of the planes and armored vehicles.

"Has the U.S. government already made up its mind to go to war?"

"Of course not, you have to trust my connections. It's just those restless types. Someone's covering things up top, the President won't be signing any orders at this point." Reassuring Logan's tense nerves, Zhou Yi bounced the wooden ball in his hand, a decoration from the staircase railing. "Come on, buddy. We've got a lot to do, but first, I need to deliver this final gift."

With that, he aimed at the General in the opposing position and made a baseball pitching motion, directly launching the final, deadly weapon.

This was a throw with all his might. Compared to the previous playful antics, this was a genuine offensive move for Zhou Yi.

The wooden sphere immediately sparked with flickering flames, the friction with the air easily igniting its body. This caused it to be constantly consumed during its flight, but considering the distance to the target, it would destroy the target's body before being completely worn away by friction.

General Stryker stared blankly at the fireball flying towards him. Its lightning-fast speed gave him no chance to dodge. After seeing the state of the helicopter and the jeep, he didn't think his body could withstand such an attack. Therefore, a fear of death completely enveloped him.

Could my career, my revenge, really end like this? In such a situation, all he could think about was the revenge he had pursued his entire life. It was, without a doubt, very pathetic.

Perhaps the god of fate favored this pitiful man, in this most unlikely of situations. Someone pushed his body aside, taking the deadly blow for him.

It was a woman in a black leather outfit, who had been standing behind him, guarding him. At the critical moment, she pushed Stryker away and used her body to block the incoming fireball.

The massive impact sent her flying. Her seemingly fragile body soared over ten meters, smashing clean through a military jeep. Debris scattered, injuring several soldiers and forcing the already overwhelmed medics to work even harder.

Yet, the woman who had absorbed the brunt of the attack rose with an astonishing composure. The lethal projectile seemed to have no effect on her. She emerged from the wreckage without even a change in expression, standing once more behind General Stryker.

Stryker picked himself up from the ground, glancing at the woman.

Her delicate, East Asian features were devoid of any expression. Through the torn leather of her suit, one could see exposed flesh and gaping wounds. But none of these things seemed to bother her, as the wounds were healing at a visible rate.

Soon, only smooth, white skin remained. Unless one had witnessed her earlier condition, it would be impossible to believe she had suffered such a devastating injury.

"Good work, Yukio. You're a good girl!" General Stryker, looking somewhat disheveled, complimented her darkly, then turned his gaze back toward Xavier's Mansion. That was where his concerns truly lay.

Hearing Stryker's words, the Asian woman, Yukio, tilted her head slightly, appearing puzzled. After a moment, she frowned, looking down at her abdomen.

There, a torn piece of flesh was rapidly healing. It would likely be fully healed in a short time, just like her other injuries. But she felt a slight discomfort.

Then she extended a hand, and five sharp nails rapidly extended, instantly becoming five half-foot-long steel claws. Just by looking at the familiar metallic luster, one could completely identify it as the gleam of Adamantium.

After slightly twitching her fingers to get them moving, the woman named Yukio directly plunged the claws into her own abdomen. The Adamantium claws easily tore through skin and muscle, allowing her to reach deep inside her abdomen.

There were several of the most important organs of a human body, as well as the spine that supported her body.

Yukio, frowning as she endured the pain of the claws scraping against her internal organs, groped around, searching. Soon, her brow twitched, and she let out a low growl. She withdrew her claws from her abdomen, and in her claws, she held a blood-red object.

It was a somewhat damaged hard object. The blood-soaked surface revealed blurred wooden textures, and of course, more of the burn marks. But this was not the most eye-catching thing; the most eye-catching was the distinct mark imprinted on the wooden texture.

The segmented indentations looked extremely consistent with the protrusions on the spine. And the fact was, this wood was what Yukio had taken from her own spine. The discomfort she felt was precisely because of its existence.

To withstand such a heavy blow with a human body, even if it hit the spine, it wouldn't have any impact. This was already a terrifying vitality and defensive ability. Obviously, there must be a necessary connection between this woman named Yukio and the Mutant named Logan.

Zhou Yi, who had been watching there, scanned Yukio's body and looked back at his companion beside him.

"Logan, do you have a sister?"

"Damn it, what are you talking about? I have amnesia, don't you know?" This sudden question made Logan's brain spin a little. He didn't even know what connection there was between everything happening here and whether or not he had a sister.

"Forget it, let's leave here first. I'll tell you more about it later when we get back!" Zhou Yi patted Logan on the shoulder and led the way out. Since the Mutants students had already been transferred, there was no need for them to stay here.

It was just a mansion. As long as Professor Charles was still around, it would always belong to the Mutants.

General Stryker stared grimly at Xavier's Mansion. This mansion had given him too many surprises. If he hadn't arranged for guards, perhaps everything he had would have been in vain. That would have become a huge joke, both for him and for those standing behind him.

He waited anxiously, waiting for his subordinates to bring him some good news.

And the facts proved that he was indeed lucky today. Soon, his adjutant returned to his side, reporting with a look of joy on his face.

"General, we've occupied it! Everything went very smoothly!"

General Stryker's face twitched, and he immediately pressed, "Did you find any Mutants? And did you find the one who's been hindering us?"

"I'm sorry, General!" The adjutant's face stiffened, and he wore a troubled expression. "The information from the front lines is that they only occupied the area and didn't find any Mutants. Also, they found the remains of the vanguard!"

"Damn it!" Stryker growled. After paying such a huge price, not even capturing a single Mutant was the most ruthless irony. Just thinking about it, he felt a violent thought assaulting his mind.

However, as far as the plan was concerned, this couldn't affect him in any way.

"You can't escape my grasp!" Looking at the gloomy Xavier's Mansion, the man who had been manipulated by revenge for a lifetime revealed a delighted smile.
