Chapter 232 - Taking It Further - The Right Choice

Humans are inherently complex creatures, driven by both reason and emotion. At times, emotion can even override their judgment.

Many problems arise from impulsive decisions. One must pay the price for their impulses, and with this realization comes the burden of responsibility.

And now, Zhou Yi had added another layer to his responsibilities. He had always handled such matters well before, but now he didn't know how to proceed. In the end, he hadn't controlled himself.

With this thought, Zhou Yi laughed bitterly. Fumbling on the nightstand, he found a cigarette and lit it.

"Lying in bed smoking isn't a good habit. You know that!" A snow-white arm reached out, its jade-like luster radiating an astonishing charm. This beauty had once captivated Zhou Yi, but when she removed the cigarette from his lips, he protested.

"You need to understand, I need to think about some things."

"Are you thinking about how to handle me, or how to make sure I don't blab about this?" Ada's teasing voice rang in his ear, making Zhou Yi turn to stare at her face.

Ada's face was inches away, and her watery eyes met his, their emotions so complex he couldn't read them.

In response, Zhou Yi immediately tightened his arms, pulling the woman in his embrace closer. He stared intently into her eyes and said, "You know what I mean. We made this choice together, and I'm going to take responsibility for you!"

Uncomfortable under Zhou Yi's unusually serious gaze, Ada turned her face away and retorted, "Stop joking. I don't need you to take responsibility for me! This isn't some love game, just mutual comfort between two consenting adults. It should be normal for grown-ups. Don't tell me, you big romantic—is this really your first time?"

"This isn't my first time, I'm sorry, Ada!" Zhou Yi gently turned Ada's awkward face toward him, forcing her to meet his gaze. "But it *is* yours, isn't it?"

"Why are you making such a fuss over something even I don't care about?" Ada Wong sighed resentfully at Zhou Yi's forceful actions. Her status and personality prevented her from acting like a clingy woman, demanding things from him arbitrarily. It was better to let go a little, to preserve her dignity.

"Listen, Ada, I don't care what you think. But to me, this matters!"

Zhou Yi spoke so earnestly it made Ada want to laugh.

"What's gotten into you? Don't forget what the world says about your past. A playboy, only slightly better than Tony! So please, don't act like this. It's not like you, and I think it would hurt the women you've been with."

"I admit I was reckless back then, but I paid the price. And now, Ada, I want to take responsibility for you." Zhou Yi said these words softly, tightening his grip on her.

The intensity of Zhou Yi's embrace made Ada deeply uncomfortable. She felt a mix of surprise and a sense that the surprise was overwhelming. She longed to accept, to find a sense of security like an ordinary woman. But she knew something crucial was missing between them.

Their feelings didn't seem to have reached the level of true love. And that was the most critical issue.

"What exactly do you want? To marry me?" With this realization, Ada asked. She genuinely wanted to know the extent of Zhou Yi's commitment.

"If you agree, I have no objections," Zhou Yi nodded without hesitation, surprising Ada. "It's not easy to find a woman who accepts all my secrets. And maybe the teachers at school are right—I do need to find a mother for the children!"

"So that's your real motive! You just want to find a mother for those two kids," Ada said, playfully pushing his chest to express her displeasure. Zhou Yi simply caught her hand and said with a mischievous tone, "Maybe..."

"Alright, alright. If that's how you feel, I can't help it. So, do you agree?"

Ada's expression changed instantly. A look of hesitation lingered on her face for a long time. After a while, she quietly sighed and said listlessly,

"Let's just forget it. I don't think I'm ready yet! Marriage... it's still too far away for me!"

"Are you sure?" Now it was Zhou Yi's turn to be puzzled. He had thought everything would go smoothly.

"I'm sure. This is fine for now. We're not ready to take things further." Ada pushed Zhou Yi's shoulder as if complaining, then curled up comfortably in his arms, rolling over like a lazy cat.

"I'm tired. I just want to sleep. Let's drop this topic!"

"Hmph!" Seeing Ada end the conversation so abruptly, Zhou Yi couldn't help but let out an exasperated sound. He wanted to say more, but found that the woman in his arms was already breathing evenly. A wry smile spread across his face.

He knew that anything he said now would be useless. You could never wake someone who was pretending to be asleep. Ada's attitude was clear: she didn't want to argue with Zhou Yi about this any further and chose to feign sleep to avoid the discussion.

This left Zhou Yi utterly helpless. In the end, he could only do as the woman in his arms had done and quietly drifted off to sleep. And so, the day quietly came to an end.

Zhou Yi was woken early the next morning by the sounds of movement beside him. He knew the noise was coming from his side, so he couldn't even be bothered to open his eyes. People sometimes reach a point of relaxation where they become utterly lazy.

Take Zhou Yi now, for example. He could clearly sense that Ada had already woken up and was even beginning to rustle as she dressed. Yet he had no desire to get out of bed. It could almost be said that he had developed a chronic case of bed-laziness.

Ada, now fully dressed, gave the still-reluctant Zhou Yi a firm shove. Watching him wriggle like a caterpillar, her expression darkened.

"Damn it, aren't you getting up yet? If you keep this up, the children will see you!"

"Oh, Ada. I'm sure our dear children will understand their father's hard work yesterday. After all, I was really putting in the effort last night, especially after we got back!" Zhou Yi remained tangled in the blankets, as if the entire world revolved around the bed. This was exactly what Ada didn't want to see.

After all, this was her room, not Zhou Yi's. If the children saw their father sleeping here, Ada's reputation would be utterly ruined.

Under Ada's insistent pushing, Zhou Yi reluctantly opened his eyes. Being forcibly dragged from the comfort of his cherished dream was an unpleasant feeling. However, upon seeing Ada, his mood inexplicably brightened.

At that moment, Ada was wearing a white silk blouse. Through the sheer fabric, Zhou Yi could clearly see what lay beneath. Her long, slender, and shapely legs, encased in a black pencil skirt and black stockings, formed a breathtaking spectacle.

To be fair, Ada's figure was exceptional. While she didn't possess exaggerated curves, she embodied the perfect golden ratio. Her long, slender legs were absolutely captivating, and her slender waist, so narrow it could be spanned by two hands, combined with her nearly flawless feminine curves, would make 99% of women in the world pale in comparison. And this was just her body—it didn't even account for her stunningly attractive face.

From a woman's perspective, she was nearly perfect. Intelligent, wise, capable, and breathtakingly beautiful. Zhou Yi couldn't help but feel a sense of smug satisfaction. After all, such a woman was now his. How could he not be pleased?

"Good morning, my dear Ada. I thought you might sleep in a little longer."

Hearing Zhou Yi's words, even Ada, with her spy's composure, felt a blush creep onto her cheeks. She vividly remembered the extent of their wild night before. Quickly suppressing the blush, she tossed Zhou Yi's clothes at him and scolded him softly, "Stop fooling around and get up. I don't want those two little ones getting the wrong idea."

As Zhou Yi pulled on his clothes, he chuckled, "What wrong idea? What's there to misunderstand? Ada, I think you're just being overly cautious."

"You definitely did that on purpose!" Ada shot him an annoyed glare.

"Maybe so. Who knows?" Zhou Yi finished dressing and put on his shoes. He stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Ada's waist. Amidst her flustered state, he gently leaned in, sniffing her neck before pressing his lips to hers.

After what felt like an eternity, Ada, jolted back to her senses, forcefully pushed him away. At that moment, a mischievous grin spread across Zhou Yi's face.

"That was a good morning kiss, my dear Ada. And I must say, you're even more radiant than yesterday."

With that, he slipped out of Ada's room like a thief in the night. In truth, it wasn't just Ada who worried about the children discovering them; he was equally concerned. Until their relationship was officially established, any sign of intimacy seen by the kids would cause unnecessary trouble.

Watching Zhou Yi slink away, Ada felt a strange flutter in her chest. Was this... excitement? Something felt off, yet her mood remained buoyant. Especially after seeing her own radiant reflection in the mirror, the joy only deepened.

*Perhaps this step wasn't a mistake after all.*
