Chapter 1 - Spawning In An Unknown World

An Unknown Webnovel About Progression

Islands. Islands upon islands upon islands. There were many, spread across the vast blue sea of the Eastern White. The sea waves gently hit the shore of the first island on the Eastern White, the Poco Island, which was known for its gorgeous cherry blossom trees and pink and white grass. It is also the most known island on the Eastern White, hence the name of the sea - Eastern White. The neighbouring islands were a bit far though in the Eastern White, hence the need for ships and thin yet sturdy sails was becoming increasingly more of a necessity. Sailors from all over the word travelled to the Eastern White to enjoy its breathtaking sunset and sunrise, and of course, it's ships and sails too. The first sea of the four - the Eastern White, the Bubbling Blue, the Hellish Red, and the Galactic Hue were the four main seas of the world. Getting from one sea to another was a task so difficult it put torture to shame. There were mini seas, of course, but they were much more discreet and much easier to travel through. These are called 'Pipes of Ease', which connect the towns and villages and shop centres of the four seas. The thing that connects the four seas is a whole different story.

And that's where my journey begins. Yeah, I know, a boring ahh history lesson about the world. Leave if it bores you. However, and dare I say it - my journey was rather a pretty damn entertaining one. It has lots of stupid shit, romance, heartbreak, romance, dumb shit, romance, and lastly, even more romance!! 😊

So sit back, relax, get your single ahh off tinder and get cozy to read the greatest webnovel series of all time.

And this is the first chapter.

Chapter 1

Dawn of the East

I wake up, feeling great. After all, today is the day that I will be finally getting my Global Rank from the Village Hika Centre, where the Village Hika, lived. The sun shone from the East, it's upbeat rays hitting the window of my room, sending it in disarray all over my floor. I smile. This was it. This was going to be the day I set sail to the Village Hika!

The cows mooed. The sheep brayed. The sun rose elegantly over the sea of the Eastern White. Over the 8 islands of the sea, over Poco Village. Up and up it rose, it's sunshine acting as golden wings in it's ascent. Over the Gates of No Return. The shipwrights stopped their work to see the sunrise in all it's glory, one of the main attractions of the Eastern White. It was just as usual of a day as any. Except..

..something was different about today. Maybe it was the fact that the usual townsfolk weren't as jolly as they normally were. Maybe it was because the stock market on drugs had crashed the day before and all of the drug addicts who were also drug investors lost all of their money that they had to spend on even more drugs and gambling. Whatever it was, though, the atmosphere, not just in Poco Village, but in all of the 8 islands in the Eastern White were experiencing a slight shift in the atmostphere.

"It's time.", said a commanding voice from a distance. The people stiffly walked out of their homes in unison, bringing their kids along with them. The man cleared his throat, and, standing on top of a few barrels and boxes, made his announcement. The announcement that everyone was dreading yet expecting. The announcement that could be the only plausible reason for the increase in stress and anxiety amonst the villagers and townspeople.

"To whoever is elegible..", said the man again, his voice somehow even more commanding this time. "To whoever is elegible..please make your way to the Village Hika to obtain your Rank."

The words hit the villagers with immense force. Today was the day. The day they had been once trained for themselves decades past were now upon their children. The day that would decide if their kids would be insanely powerful or..if they would breathe again.

A few parents started sobbing right then and there, whilst others were grinning and patting their kids on their backs confidently. "Don't worry, son.", said one particularly confident father,"You'll get Z rank for sure."

The nearby villagers gasped. Z rank, or the highest rank in history, was only ever given to the ones who defeated the Celestial Dragons, and even then, if they could absorb and handle all of their power. Not a single soul in history had ever just been born with the power of a Z rank before, so really the only way to see if you were a Z rank was to defeat two Celestial Dragons. If you did, you were considered to have the power of one. If you didn't..well let's just say that you wouldn't have to worry about that. Z rank powers could theoretically be possessed by someone from birth, but even then, you would have to awaken the true potential of the Z rank in any and all cases. Otherwise, the Z rank is just as good if not a little better than an S rank.

I was one of the people in the crowd, and honestly? The Chief was making it sound too big of a deal than it actually was. I wasn't that scared at all to begin with, since, and quite frankly, I had nothing to live for. No goal, no purpose, - so what if I died fighting a Sea creature or a Celestial Dragon? Only A, S or potential Z ranks are allowed to fight them anyway - and there was a bigger shot of the world ending because someone shit in the sea than me being a A rank. I'll be a C or D ranked conqueror at most, probably fighting a Octavian with 8 of it's legs missing and screaming that it wants to meet it's family or some shit.

"Alright, everyone, please board the Carnian Vessel that will take you to the Village Hika Centre. Board gender wise, and one at a time, please."

The ship was a magnificent creature, with two giant sails and a hull so spacious it would put the Royal Palace to shame.

Now, here's where the story gets..interesting, to say the least. Now I always have said that I suck with women, but I never thought that I would be dumb enough to be so lost in thought and in awe of the ship (in my defence though that was one hell of a vessel) that I didn't notice the most popular and gorgeous girl of my village walking right beside me. And then she spoke. "This is one hell of a ship.", she muttered in awe, more to herself than anyone. And me being the nerd idiot I am, it didn't even register to me that it was even a girl speaking, much less her. And since it was kind of taboo to speak to the opposite sex..it was pretty dumb of me to nerd out. And embarrassing. And cringe. So when I spoke, I..let's just say that I fumbled. Kind of. It was like that scene from Home Alone when the kid still survives even after almost getting kidnapped for ransom a million times.

"Yeah I know, right? The way they perfectly designed the mast to accomodate the sails, which flap so beautifully as the wind hits it at just the right angles which allows the person who would steer the ship turn at extremely delicate angles.."

I sigh, admiring the ship once again. "It's beautiful and genius.", I say breathlessly.

The girl stares at me for a long moment, in which she was probably deciding whether to call 911 on me and detain me for scaring her with my vast knowledge of ships..or she was deciding whether or not to talk to me or not. Thankfully though, based on her reaction, I think she liked me. Not in that way of course, I am light years away from ever even being in her league, there is no chance. But I think she liked me..as a friend.

She stares at me for a long moment before suddenly giggling right beside me, blushing a little. I instantly turn beet red and turn to her slowly, my heart beating out of my chest.

"So..", she says shyly, poking her finger at my arm and smiling. "I didn't know that the quiet nerd actually was smart."

Her touch sent electric sparks around my whole body. My heart was beating so fast I thought that this was it for me. I was gonna die before even getting ranked. My hands and body were sweating nervously as my English vocabulary vasnished into thin air. "I, uh..", I stammered elegantly, and by elegantly I mean like an absolute idiot who looked and sounded like he was overdosing on ketamine.

She, though, was very kind about it as she didn't point out the fact that I sounded like disfunctioning alcoholic right then and said, a bit more confidently, "You look cute. What's your name again? I don't think I ever really got it."

You know that feeling when your stomach mb starts doing rollercoaster spins and loops and all of a sudden butterflies start shitting themselves in it and you feel more nervous than a person who's about to do something that might kill him? Yeah, me neither before that moment right there. That moment is a moment that I will remember for the rest of my life because holy shit, HOW DID I MANAGE TO GET CALLED CUTE BY THE HOTTEST GIRL IN MY VILLAGE WTF 😭😭

I, through countless hours of yoga with my grandma and other breathing exercises somehow using all of my luck up manage to actually even out my breathing and say as coolly as I can, smiling, "T-thanks. My name's Hiacho, what about you?"

She blushes and gets closer to me. Her beautiful long black hair flow like water behind her back, and some of it falls on her face when she comes closer. Her emerald green eyes seem to brighten up everything around us, and for a few seconds I can't breathe. Then, as if I couldn't possibly get more lucky, she leans into me slowly, and whispers in my ear. My face heats up another 100 degrees. Her face is red as well, probably just as red as mine is, but that is only a glimpse that I get of her face as she immediately moves away just as quickly as she had leaned in. The others of the village didn't even seem to notice as the last of us boarded the giant vessel. The captain, a 50 year old something guy yelled something to all of us, but I couldn't hear what he said. My ears were ringing. My eyes were blurry. My heart was filled with a warmth that I had never known in my life. After my parents died 16 years ago due to some unknown disease, I was brought up by my really old grandma. Thanks to her not only was I able to talk to a girl for the first time..I talked to her. And not only did I talk to her..she called me cute.

"Alright, everyone. Let's set sail!!". Cheers from all over the ship bellowed as the anchor was raised, the sails were dropped and the ship began it's journey across the Eastern White. Towards a new beginning. Towards starting a new life or death. Parents waved to their children, but no one waved for me. Grandma would've waved for me, but she had been gone for two weeks to see a relative on the Island of Griddy. It's fine, though, since I know just how long she had been taking care of me and probably needed a break. Although her departure was a bit weird though. She got all teary eyed for a month's trip. Oh well. She was probably just sad that she was gonna miss my Ranking. I turned to stare at the endless sea, the waves gently clashing at the side of the ship. The vessel picked speed, and my home, the Island that I had grew up on, quickly evaporated from sight until it was just a small dot on a endless blue canvas. I remembered all of the memories I had made on that island, and the fact that I might never see it again made me crack slightly. I was determined not to cry, but it was all finally hitting me. The memories I had made with grandma, the pain I had felt. The troubles of life. They all evaporated just as quickly as Poco Island did, though, when I remember what she'd said to me in my ear, her breath hot on my skin.

"That's a cute name, Hiacho."
