"Can I make my phone call?"
The pot-bellied policeman arrived at the interrogation room with a frown on his face after reading all the reports of the events that had transpired between the little girl named Hana and Leo. Everything about Hana being appointed as Leo's guardian was utterly ridiculous.
The police officer was furious because he had made a very aggressive assumption about this.
In his opinion, Leo was a paedophile, and that was the reason he had been playing with Hana on the train. According to the wild assumptions in the police officer's mind, Leo had made a phone call and had the little girl's mother kidnapped, then became Hana's legal guardian through an acquaintance in the municipal administration.
Now the little girl had nowhere to take refuge. She could only cry silently every night in the clutches of the monster named Leo.
That's why the moment he entered the room and heard Leo's question, he shouted angrily.
"Why the hell do you want your fucking phone? To watch child porn and relax yourself? GIVE ME AN ANSWER, YOU DAMN BRAT!!!"
"What the fuck? Bro, were you drunk on the job, or did you walk into the wrong guy's room?"
In the next few seconds, the police officer shouted at Leo, saliva flying from his mouth, expressing his thoughts mixed with profanity.
What he got in return was Leo's reply, delivered in a calmer tone than usual.
"Normally, as a police officer, if you suspected something like this and yelled at me because of it, I probably wouldn't say anything and would just wipe the saliva off my face, but there's a big 'but' here;" Before Leo continued speaking, he suddenly kicked the policeman's leg without getting up from his chair and, taking advantage of the moment the policeman lost his balance, broke his nose with a hard blow to the head.
Naturally, the policeman was unable to react to such an action while listening to his calm tone of voice. Although, even if he wanted to, he couldn't react against Leo, who had increased his speed statistic to 15 points, but that's a separate issue.
"But the thing is, the little girl you mentioned is here, just like me. Why don't you go and ask her a few subtle questions to clear up your suspicions? I'm sure there are smarter police officers here than you, and no girl at Hana's age can lie well enough to fool them."
While the police officers watching the interrogation room rushed in to help the fat policeman who was on the floor holding his nose and screaming, Leo continued to speak without showing any fear.
"I'm not a lawyer, but I know a few things. For example, handcuffing me to this chair is completely illegal. In fact, even arresting me is not legal because you have no evidence that this attack has anything to do with me. You should thank me because if I hadn't hit your colleague, you could have lost your jobs for detaining me here. Now, you can legally detain me for up to 48 hours until my trial. You're welcome."
The fat policeman's friends, who were about to start shouting and swearing, fell silent for a moment at these words, but they didn't care that Leo was right. At the very least, they were ready to teach him the meaning of hitting a policeman, but at that moment, the station chief entered the room.
"Mr. Leo. I actually came here to tell you that you have no connection to the terrorist attack and to release you, but after seeing this situation, I don't think I'll hesitate to say that you'll be spending 48 hours with us."
"But there's a small problem; this officer just spat in my face and falsely accused me of being a pedophile. It was completely self defense. So, with your permission, I'd like to call my lawyer and leave."
The station chief burst into laughter at Leo's words.
"Hahahaha, that was funny. Looks like we have a violence prone K pop star here. I think no officer should approach him for a while. Oh, by the way, what did you want a moment ago? I couldn't quite hear you."
Everyone understood the chief's implications, and together with him, they left the interrogation room, leaving Leo inside with clenched teeth.
At that moment, Leo was thinking about how to choose between patience and impatience.
If he wanted, he could use the real damage of an Ottoman slap to shatter the handcuffs and rely on his speed and the Eyes of Fear ability to leave the station without injury.
Of course, that was a bit risky. If an officer shot him from behind, he could really end up in serious trouble.
More importantly, even if he escaped successfully, his abilities would catch the government's attention for the first time. What would likely follow was every possible method being tried by officials who wanted to lay Leo down on an experiment table.
For a moment, Leo imagined the government sending the army to capture him, and in anger, decided that he couldn't be free without overthrowing the government.
"The people should not fear the government. The government should fear the people! There was a time when we had the freedom to object, the freedom to think and to speak. Now we have censorships and systems that force obedience. How did this happen? FEAR!!! For people to fight the government, all they need is a mask that lets them overcome their fears. I must become a mask. Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. BENEATH THIS MASK THERE ARE IDEAS, MR. CREEDY, AND BULLETS CANNOT HARM IDEAS!!!"
While Leo was completely immersed in his speech, he heard the sound of something falling behind him and leaned his head back to look at the source of the noise.
The officers who had just mocked him were there, and in front of them stood a handsome man in a suit. The source of the sound was the pen that had fallen from the suited man's hand.
"First, let me introduce myself. I'm Park chan soul, the lawyer assigned to you by the government you were just talking about. I witnessed everything that just happened, and in exchange for not reporting the laws the chief violated while detaining you, we've agreed to get you out of here with a clean record. The problem is, even though I'm not in love with the Korean government, if there's a coup in this country, I'll lose my job. So staying here for a while seems like the best option for both of us."
Hearing this, Leo hurriedly said that he was joking.
"I was just kidding. What I said earlier wasn't serious. You know, those were just lines from the movie V for Vandatta. Come on, Hawkeye. You're getting me out of here, right? I haven't eaten anything since I got here. I'd sell my soul for a huge, unhealthy cheeseburger. Pleeease…"
"Hawkeye?"
"Uh, right, he was the archer one. What was his name… ah, I remember. Daredevil."
"And who is that?"
"You'll find out. Can we leave now, please?"
