Chapter 21 - A strong opponent

The night shattered the moment Beru attacked the Hokori Clan.

He did not come alone.

His entire gang surged forward with him, blades drawn, hearts burning. This fight was not for pride, not for territory—it was for his family. For blood. For everything the Hokori Clan had taken from him.

And with that, the war began.

Steel clashed against steel as Beru's gang collided with the clan members. Screams tore through the air. The battlefield descended into pure chaos—bodies crashing, weapons breaking, blood soaking the ground. There was no order, no mercy. Only survival.

In the heart of it all stood Beru.

Four elite Hokori Clan members surrounded him.

They were monsters—veterans shaped by countless battles, their presence alone heavy enough to crush weaker men. Any one of them could kill an ordinary fighter in seconds.

But Beru did not retreat.

He couldn't.

He fought for his family.

At first, he tried to face them one by one. His movements were sharp, disciplined, controlled. But the elites didn't allow it. They attacked together, overwhelming him with brutal coordination.

Fists slammed into his ribs. A blade tore across his shoulder. A knee crashed into his stomach.

Beru staggered.

Again and again, they struck him down, giving him no time to breathe. Pain flooded his body. His vision blurred. His legs trembled.

He was losing.

So this is it…?

His strength drained rapidly, consciousness slipping away. His body screamed for rest, for surrender. As he collapsed to one knee, the world began to fade—

Then something rushed through him.

A violent surge exploded inside his veins.

Beru gasped.

Power flooded every broken part of his body. His heartbeat thundered. His lungs burned with fresh air. His muscles tightened, overflowing with strength and stamina that shouldn't have been possible.

The four elites froze.

They felt it too.

The pressure.

Beru stood up slowly, his eyes burning with something different—something terrifying.

"He's… still standing?" one of them muttered.

Beru moved.

Faster than before.

Stronger.

He grabbed one elite by the face and slammed him into the ground with overwhelming force. The earth cracked beneath them. The man's body went limp instantly.

Dead.

The remaining three elites stared in disbelief.

An elite… defeated?

Beru didn't give them time to react.

He focused on one.

The elite launched a powerful punch, aimed straight at Beru's head—

But Beru vanished.

In the next instant, he appeared behind him.

A clean slash.

The blade cut through the elite's neck.

Kashi's move.

Blood sprayed as the body collapsed.

Two left.

They attacked together, desperation replacing confidence. Blades swung toward Beru from both sides.

Beru couldn't afford to lose.

He spun and unleashed a powerful kick, smashing both elites in the face at the same time. Bones cracked. Before they could recover, Beru swung his sword.

One elite was cut in half.

The other barely had time to scream before Beru closed the distance and ended him.

Silence.

Four elite Hokori members lay dead at his feet.

Beru stood there, chest heaving, his body screaming in exhaustion. Every breath felt heavy. His strength was nearly gone.

But the war wasn't over.

He looked around.

His gang was still fighting—but they were losing ground. Bloodied. Cornered. Beru forced his body forward, trying to reach them—

A punch landed on his face.

The impact sent him flying into a wall.

Crack.

The stone shattered behind him.

His gang froze in horror.

That punch…

Only one man could do that.

The Hokori Clan Leader had entered the battlefield.

His presence alone crushed the air. Tall. Calm. Terrifying. Because his elite warriors had fallen, he had decided to act himself.

Beru tried to stand, but his body was already broken.

Still, this was the last enemy.

He couldn't lose.

He saw his gang again—and realized something shocking.

They were winning.

Confidence ignited inside him.

Beru charged and struck the clan leader with everything he had.

The leader didn't move.

It was like Beru's attack didn't even exist.

"Pathetic," the leader said coldly.

Another punch.

Stronger.

Beru was sent flying through the air. Before he could land, the leader grabbed his face and smashed him into the ground—just like Beru had done to the elites.

The irony burned.

Beru's body was completely destroyed.

Still, he raised his sword and attacked again.

The leader caught the blade with one hand.

Then pushed it straight into Beru's stomach.

Blood poured out as Beru collapsed to the floor.

His gang screamed.

Beru tried to stand—but his legs failed him.

Then he saw them.

Other clans.

Misaki Clan.

High-ranking clan leaders and their members arriving at the battlefield.

So… this is the end…

Darkness crept into his vision.

As he was about to faint—

A shadow covered the ground.

Beru looked up.

A giant figure hovered in the air above the battlefield.

And his consciousness shattered.
