I was yanked from whatever sorry excuse for sleep I was in by a brutal shaking that rolled through the jelly like a goddamn earthquake from hell. This wasn't some gentle nudge—it felt like the universe was shoving me around like a ragdoll.
I blinked, trying to make sense of the chaos, but all I got was a blinding light stabbing through the darkness like a spotlight on my miserable ass. No clue what the hell was going on.
Then, bam! Another wave rippled under my feet, slamming through the gooey prison I was stuck in. Something was moving beneath me, and it wasn't friendly.
Out of nowhere, a piercing light burst above my head. I didn't know what the fuck it meant, but when the next shockwave crashed over me, it shoved me closer to that light like it was my ticket out of this slime pit.
Hope flickered in my gut—maybe, just maybe, I was finally getting the hell away from this nightmare.
But then the world twisted. Another shockwave hit, pushing me nearer to the blinding glow, and that's when shit got real fucked up.
Two horrible things slammed into my mind: first, the insane, mind-melting thought I'd been trying to shove deep down—it exploded into full-blown terror. Second, beyond the light, something was waiting. I swear on all the shitty gods that thing looked like hands. Freaking hands.
"NO!"
The outline of those palms confirmed my worst goddamn fears. Couldn't he at least not make me go through being birthed.
Another wave surged, shoving me so close the light burned my head like a fucking branding iron.
"This can't be real. It's a goddamn nightmare."
Something squeezed my skull tight enough to make me wanna scream.
"NO! NO! NO! FUCK NO!"
The world jerked violently, another shockwave slammed in, and the light blazed until I shut my eyes, trying to hide from the madness.
Then, suddenly—WHAP!—I got smacked right in the ass.
Eyes snapping open, I stared up at some upside-down dude. Or maybe it was a dude—I was too damn blurry to tell.
"Try again, huh?"
"-Waaaa!" My brain short-circuited as the baby-cry escaped my mouth.
"What the fuck... NO! NO! NO! NO!" I screamed silently in my head"
"No, this can't be happening! Fucking hell, this is stupid, fucking crazy shit!"
"-Waaaa!"
Hearing myself bawl like some newborn squalling for milk was the single most terrifying thing I'd ever experienced. And guess what? I was that newborn now.
My mind was a shattered mess, struggling to grasp that all those endless cycles, floating in darkness, cocooned in jelly, were just me growing in a goddamn womb.
Fuck!
"-Waaaa!"
Whatever the hell this was, I'd rather go fuck a whale than live through it again. This shit left mental scars deep enough to hire every damn psychiatrist on Earth—and even then, I'd probably snap and trigger World War III. Hell, I wouldn't blame me.
Then something warm covered me. Probably a blanket, because it was cozy as hell.
The dude holding me spun around, the world behind him all blurry as hell. He started lowering me down.
His face was a fuzzy mess through my haze, but I caught that he had dark hair, maybe black, and wore some robe that looked like a monk's habit. Weird as hell.
But then I got passed to a woman lying in a bed—or at least I think she was lying down. My vision sucked ass.
She pulled me close, close enough that I could finally see her face, or at least what wasn't a blur.
Her blue-black hair stuck to her head like it was drenched in sweat, and her breathing was ragged, but holy shit, it was her eyes that hooked me.
They weren't normal. Hell no. They were this insane purple—like some unreal violet that didn't belong in nature.
For a second, all my rage at being reborn vanished as I stared into those eyes. That woman could wipe the floor with every supermodel on the planet, and I found myself wondering, fuck it, maybe I'd get those eyes too.
