Blood dripped onto my bedroom floor.
I froze.
A man—tall, furious, and half-bleeding—stumbled through the shadows. His cold eyes locked onto mine like he'd been searching for me for years.
"Amara," he whispered, voice shaking. "Finally… I found you."
My heart raced. "W-Who are you?!"
He looked at me like I had just broken him.
"It's me," he breathed. "Adrian. Your husband."
He stepped closer, desperate.
"I came back to save you."
My head spun. "Save me from what?"
His jaw clenched, eyes dark.
"From the person who kills you seven years from now. They followed me here."
His voice broke.
"And I'm not losing you again."
