Chapter 5 - Understanding Mystic Powers - Chapter 5

After about one hour, the first class ended; Linda made a list and then placed four students into groups.

Micheal sat down in the food hall with his allocated group. Linda said to them as the students left that they need to get close to their own group, as in later times, there will be group actions, and they need to trust their friends.

"I am Aris," said a young man with a short stature, looking at the three people around him.

"I am Ginag," said the other young man, pretty different from Aris, having over 190 cm of height and a beard looking pretty wild.

"I am Nila," said the short, black-haired woman as she smiled.

Michael took a deep breath and said.

"I am Micheal," he added and introduced himself.

Aris then looked at all the other students for a moment and then said.

"So, what should we talk about?"

Ginag looked sideways, and Nila just looked down.

Michael then spoke.

"We can talk about the first thing we have learned and our purposes as well as our past."

Ginag looked at Micheal for a moment and shook his head.

"I can talk about what we have learned and purposes, but the past should stay in the past."

Aris nodded.

"I agree with Ginag."

Nila too nodded.

"That is to be expected." Micheal said and then looked at Aris and asked.

"What do you want to become?"

Aris thought for a moment and then smiled, seemingly remembering something.

"I always wanted to work on the transportation..."

Ginag, Nila, and Micheal looked at each other for a moment. For a purpose to be involving ""transportation"—that was something they did not expect.

Aris noticed the look on their faces and smiled again as he put his hand into his hair and said.

"It is about my past, so I cannot go into details, but I would prefer to ease the transportation of the goods and people in the future."

Micheal and others nodded, and then Nila spoke.

"Healing..." she said with a timid voice.

"Healing?" Aris asked.

Nila nodded.

"I want to get better at healing sick animals and people..."

Ginag nodded and grinned.

"Honorable goal..." he said, placing his hands on the table.

"Protecting!" he said with a harsh voice.

"I want to protect those that I value and deserve to be protected." Everybody nodded, as it fit his look and behavior.

Then all eyes landed on Micheal, as he was the only one who had not said anything about his goal.

Michael thought for a moment.

Truth be told, he did not think much about what he should focus on with the newfound power.

But, after closing his eyes for a moment, he spoke.

"Exploration, the itch to know, see, and experience the unknown, things that do not exist and are not detailed."

"I would like to see..."

Everybody nodded, as it was the expected goal.

Aris then smiled as he looked at the others and then coughed for a moment. Some servants brought up fresh and cold beer for the four students then. Aris picked up a paper from his bag that he was carrying and fetched up a paper and a quill.

"Now that we know our goals, we need to talk about the Mind Method."

"Anybody who wants to share their thoughts."

Aris said as his eyes scanned the table and faces.

Micheal was the first one to speak.

"I think it is simple to understand and hard to make into a practice."

Everybody nodded, and Ginag spoke.

"Learn, understand, and act with mental power; it seems too easy to be true."

Nila then smiled and nodded.

"I think the key lies in the "understanding. It is the most important one."

Aris looked at Nila and then asked.

"What makes you think that?"

Nila thought for a moment and then spoke.

"Finding information is simple as long as there are clues to reach the said information and sources for it."

"But, understanding it enough, internalizing it as the mind method says..."

"It is too vague."

Micheal and the others started thinking.

"Vague…" she says, Micheal thought.

"That is right!" he then nodded vigorously.

"What is the difference between understanding knowledge and just knowing it?"

"If just knowing something is not enough, how does one know that they understand it enough to internalize it?"

Micheal let out a deep breath and then simply said.

"How do we move our arms?"

Such a question gathered eyes from the others at the table.

"Weird question, we just move it." Ginag said for a moment, and then he shared a look with Aris and Nila.

Michael smirked.

"Yes."

"We do not need to know about how to move our arm, but we just do it all the time."

"What if the difference between having read knowledge and understanding is simply that?"

Everybody shared one more look before the time was over, and everybody went to their room to study the many more books given to them by the teacher, Linda.
