Chapter 1 - chapter 1

A shot rings out throughout the corridors … "Thought that would be more difficult guys. Just have to try again another time with someone stronger than yous" a lonely figure says sarcastically before throwing away a gun they picked up off a body during the fight and walking away from the carnage of the bodies they left behind.

As he leaves his phone starts to buzz. He answers the phone sharply "you got another job for me?" he cuts straight to the chase. "Only one job right now, a man named Kaine. No one else wants to take the job, all yours Andre Hes apparently holding up in Arcangel, biggest city on this continent. You'll need to use everything to find him" they respond to him. "Send the details over, I'll end this Kaine." he says coldly. "I'll head over soon, let the storm pass over first" he says as his duster billows in the wind. "Whatever works for you, just get the job done. You're not one to disappoint us" the voice responds with a matter of factly tone. "The job will get done. There is no need to discuss this further" he says as he cuts the connection.

As he sits and waits out the storm Andre gets a feeling in his arm, rolling up the sleeve on his right, the cold metal of his left arm grazing him with every click it makes, he sees the tattoo pulsating up his right side. This damned thing he thinks to himself, the feeling never fading as it keeps moving up. Trying to put his mind at ease he rummages through the piles of bodies strewn about to find his revolver that had been knocked away during the earlier fight. He had called it Prometheus. He had found it pretty ironic to name it so, but kept it as a reminder of what had chained him down. A punishment onto the very nature of his life.

After an hour or so of looking around Andre was finally able to find Prometheus. It had a slick long rail at the top with just the iron sights sticking out. A matte black covered the surface, red accenting on the edges and engraving of Prometheus. The handle contoured to his hand perfectly and the rest of the weapon kept a striking edge to it. "here you are. Could never leave you behind" He spun it round his finger a few times before holstering it.

Not long after the storm started to fade away, giving him an opportunity to make his way towards Arcangel, where Kaine was held up. "It's show time" He said to himself as he got on his dirt bike. which allowed him to cross the severed sands quicker than going around it to Arcangel through the tally mountains. Getting on he almost instantly started it up, put on his goggles and respirator, which covered his mouth automatically and then booked it across the desert. Jumping over dunes and dodging pits that would leave him stranded forever. The only real problem he faced was the blazing heat. Keeping him protected was his hat that he wore at all times. Saved his eyesight many a time in the past, before he learned any better. The thrill was more than worth it though, feeling the cool wind rush past him every time he got in the air.

After a couple hours he was able to reach the other side of the desert not too far from Arcangel, lucky for him there was a large forest covering him from the sun. Just down the road was a rest station he could use to refuel and get something to drink.

Just as Andre pulls up he notices what seems to be a robbery taking place and decides to intervene in this situation. "What seems to be going on here?" He asks them all "what you think it looks like. You want to get fucked up man?" One of them asks aggressively "I wouldn't be so rash if I were you" Andre says pointing down to his trusty revolver "you guys can leave and go home alive or we're going to have a bad time. Choice is yours" he says with a grin on his face "I ain't scared of y-" one says as Andre blows his head off "warned ya. Does anyone else want a go?" he asks before the gun even stops smoking the rest of them run away. "Sorry about that, got a bit ahead of myself, let me clean up for you" he says before picking the body up and taking it round the back.

Heading back inside Andre asks the shop keeper for a bottle of water, but he notices that they are still frozen in shock. "I'm sorry ma'am I didn't mean to over do it, you'll get over it soon enough. They would've killed you. I saw the look in their eyes. I'll just take a couple bottles and be on my way" he says as he takes a couple and leaves in less than a minute. Riding towards kaine in the hopes of getting what he desires. Following the winding dirt road till it connects to the asphalt that leads him straight to Arcangel. His mind focused and unmoving. He starts to swerve in and out of the cars before putting his bike to the max and flying by, straight towards the towering cityscape of Arcangel. Its oppressive buildings almost blocking the sun in its entirety.

Andre knew what he was getting into, it was a hive of criminals. Was the only reason it became as big as it did. Everyone knew that but either had no desire to fight it, profited off it or were blackmailed to keep themselves quiet. Let him have a good hand as he knew where to look for information and some favours to call at the same time. He couldn't be happier, had time to blow off steam and see familiar places once again, maybe even old friends if he's lucky enough.

Entering the city makes him feel cramped and almost like an ant. Like nothing he had ever done in his life mattered in the grand scheme of things. As the light turned red he looked at the sides of the road he could clearly see patrols from one of the city's gangs. They were wearing black hockey masks with a red line going from above to below the eyes, black undershirt, cargo trousers and what looked like an exo skeleton frame from their Backs down the arms. He was also able to see that they were all holding rifles. Sleek with a long barrel and short magazine.

As he studied them, one of the group locked eyes with Andre. Sensing the tension in the situation he looked away and rode off as soon as the light went green.

Turning down a side street he went past multiple people being robbed and attacked. He knew all too well that this was a daily occurrence and that they should've known to have some form of safety in the city, but nevertheless he didn't intervene. It wasn't his business after all, and he had places to be more importantly.

pulling up to a bar Andre walks in. He sits down and waits a second before getting served, he orders himself an old fashioned. "You don't seem to be from around here are you?" The man right next to Andre asks "what's it to you?" He asks back. "I'm just curious. You stick out too much to be from here" the man explains "you're here for a reason, something big I feel" he continues rambling for another minute or so before Andre interrupts "I'm just trying to enjoy a drink here. I have business to attend to too. I don't care for whatever you have to say" he finishes the last of his drink and walks out the bar.

Picking up his phone he calls someone, its rings then rings again and once more before the other end picks up "I'm here now, where is he located?" Andre asks "we can't say for sure, you'll have to ask around and do some favours, here the details of someone you can contact goodbye" the line goes silent.

"Worth a shot" Andre thinks to himself. He puts the details in and sends a message

"I was given your contact by Enforcement, said you could be of use to me in my newest job?" he waits around a couple of minutes for a response

"Sure I can be of use but that's a two way street and I need to know if you're even trustworthy. Meet me at Central station in 10 minutes, Don't leave me waiting" they explained

Seeing the message Andre heads over right away, starting his bike and making a move for the station in time, hoping to meet this mystery person and make progress towards his mission. Swerving through traffic to do so, almost getting hit by a car on the way.

He finally reaches the station and begins to go up the stairs…
