Kleavor, in its berserk noble state, swung its massive stone axes, unleashing a Stone Axe attack that sent jagged rock blades surging from the earth.
Volcarona performed a graceful Quiver Dance, dodging the assault before counterattacking with a spiraling Fiery Dance. Against the ultimate Fire-type offensive, the Forest King was defeated.
Kaito used the Forest Balm, and Kleavor transformed into a stream of light, contained within the orb.

Back at the villa, Kaito examined his new treasure: the Insect Plate. It was emerald green and pulsing with energy, but its surface was marred by chaotic cracks. Even in its damaged state, it was a creation of Arceus.

The next morning, Kaito was busy in his Research Institute. Using system blueprints, he completed the first Friendship Checker—a device that measured the bond between Trainer and Pokémon on a scale of 0 to 255.
Mime Jr. perched on his shoulder, perfectly mimicking Kaito's focused expression as he laid out his "marbles."
On the table sat eleven Mega Stones: Salamence, Gardevoir, Gengar, Banette, Aerodactyl, Lucario, Diancie, Garchomp (a pair), Sceptile, and Pidgeot.
Kaito had been quietly "treasure hunting" online, buying these stones from people who thought they were just pretty glass beads. Now that I have my status as a Master and the Fairy Doctor, Kaito thought, it's time to create a monopoly on Mega Evolution.
He walked out into the October sun. Even though northern cities were cooling down, Fu Province remained warm. He spotted Arina playing with the Pokémon by the lake.
"Master is out?" Arina teased. "Is there another major research comparable to the Fairy Type?"
Kaito rubbed Arcanine's head and smiled. "Actually, there is."
Arina's eyes lit up. "Is it another new type?"
"Not quite," Kaito replied meaningfully. "But tell me... what if the final forms of some Pokémon could evolve again, and their strength would increase dramatically?"
Arina froze, her ice-blue eyes wide with shock. "Is that... even possible?"
In her private lab, Liu Xuan yawned and checked Pokémon Home. She was tired of the low-quality papers being published lately—until she saw a familiar name.
Kaito hadn't just published one paper. He had uploaded two.
