The next morning, the forest by the lake echoed with the rhythmic sound of punching.
Thump, thump. "Chirp!"
Facing a specialized training dummy, Chimchar bared his teeth and assumed the stance Kaito had taught him: chest in, chin down, guard up, and center of gravity stabilized. He was currently wearing a strange device that hummed with energy.
Forced Training Device: Doubles training efficiency and has a chance to increase potential or grant special effects, but increases the difficulty of training and drains willpower.
Kaito watched silently. He could have easily used secret treasures to forcibly raise Chimchar's level to the Elite Four-tier, but neither he nor the little monkey wanted that. Chimchar's aptitude was poor—at Level 7, he still couldn't even manage a simple Ember. However, he possessed two things that couldn't be measured by stats: the Hidden Ability Iron Fist and a willpower that burned hotter than any flame.
"Hobi?" Bunnelby and Psyduck watched from the sidelines, confused by the intense effort. Mime Jr. stood nearby, perfectly mimicking Chimchar's punches in the air.
"That's Chimchar," Kaito explained. "He's our new partner, and he's working to carve his own path."

Effect Triggered: For the next ten days, growth efficiency is doubled, and potential is partially increased.
Kaito tapped into his Power of Life, sending a surge of vitality into the exhausted monkey to restore his stamina. Chimchar clenched his fists, eyes burning with a new light. He was beginning to grasp a technique that would change everything.
The Cliff's Treasure
Leaving Chimchar to his training, Kaito set out to explore the final unexplored region of Qinglin Mountain: the northern peaks. He rode on Meganium, enjoying the cool mountain breeze.
Following his map, they reached a jagged cliffside. Meganium sensed something beneath the soil and used her vines to unearth a large piece of emerald-colored clay.
Light Clay: An item that extends the duration of Light Screen, Reflect, and Aurora Veil.
"Use it, Meganium," Kaito said. The Grass-type's eyes curved in a smile as she absorbed the treasure's power.
The Weaving Pokémon
As they pressed deeper into the woods, something small tumbled from a tree canopy. Kaito caught it with practiced reflexes. It was a Sewaddle, a tiny caterpillar-like Pokémon wearing a hood made of leaves.

Type: Bug/Grass
Ability: Swarm
Potential: Elite-tier
The Sewaddle chirped excitedly, explaining that it had smelled an irresistible scent—the aura of the Insect Plate on Kaito—and accidentally lost its footing. It offered Kaito a minty herb leaf as thanks.
Sewaddle led them to a clearing where its entire clan resided. Dozens of Sewaddle and Swadloon were gnawing on leaves, overseen by two graceful Leavanny. These Pokémon are known for their maternal nature and sewing skills; many human families even hire them as babysitters.
The Leavanny were initially wary, but Kaito's Fairy Doctor status and the Insect Plate's blessing acted like a universal peace treaty.
"Would you all like to come with me?" Kaito invited. "I have a farm where you can live in peace." The Leavanny didn't hesitate; the wild was dangerous, and the farm felt like a sanctuary.
The Legend of the Monkey King
That evening, the group gathered around a quiet bonfire. Bunnelby tried eating a leaf offered by a Sewaddle, only to gag at the bitter taste, while Mime Jr. mirrored his disgusted face perfectly.
Kaito sat with Chimchar, who was still focused on his training.
"Tonight, I'm going to tell you a story about a monkey," Kaito said softly. "The name of the story is... The Monkey King."
Using his Power of Imagery, Kaito projected glowing, cinematic scenes into the air. He showed a legendary primate who defied the heavens, mastered incredible techniques through sheer grit, and became an unstoppable force.
Chimchar stared at the golden figure of Sun Wukong in the projection. Every image was etched into his soul. If a monkey can become a King... then maybe I can, too.
Kaito has recruited the Leavanny clan and ignited a fire in Chimchar's heart! With the Insect Plate gaining followers and the Hisui Secret Realm still full of mysteries, will Kaito return to ancient times to find a way to heal Chimchar's congenital defects?
