Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 When I first transmigrated

This is a simple truth, but Mike, a reporter for the Daily Observer, had intentionally or unintentionally overlooked it beforehand. He did not want the elite class in this society to be cruel and heartless.

He hopes that the elite class will be like him, that some problems are just not being discovered by everyone, and that once they are discovered, they will actively find ways to solve them.

Odis leaned back on the sofa and said in a slightly weathered voice, "I'm doing the same thing as you, just in a different way."

"I did not expect understanding and help from those important figures, because they could not possibly understand, and help based solely on sympathy is unreliable, as sympathy is likely to disappear the next day."

"You should have heard that I once tried to start a factory."

"It's not because I'm making investments, but I just hope to give streetwalkers another way to go. After all, who would want to do this job unless they're forced to?"

"But I failed. Currently, only one restaurant, 'Nanmu Restaurant,' is still profitable."

Mike quickly replied, "I've heard that you're doing something great..."

Odis raised her hand, interrupting Mike: "I don't need your flattery. I know what I did wasn't great."

"On the contrary, it was rather dirty."

He pointed to his mask: "Once you put this mask on, you can't take it off."

"But I don't regret it, because I did solve some of the problems. Unfortunately, all I got was the cold looks and ridicule from high society. To this day, there has never been another 'Nanmu Ballroom'."

Mike was somewhat excited: "No, what you did was truly great. It provided security for many streetwalkers and prevented many tragedies."

"Thank you." Odis suddenly stood up. "Thank you, Mr. Reporter."

Mike quickly got up as well.

Odis continued, "Those who want to know about the 'Nanmu Ballroom' will do so through their own channels, but those channels cannot be newspapers, because that is too easy to be misunderstood and exploited."

He then pointed to his mask: "And I must remind you, there are too many secrets of great people hidden beneath this mask."

"For your sake, for my sake, for the sake of 'Nanmu Ballroom,' please do not have any more reports like yesterday's."

Mike immediately replied, "Don't worry, at least it won't appear in the Daily Observer anymore."

Odis took another puff of his cigar: "Thank you."

They chatted for a while, then Mike got up to say goodbye, and "Mr. Gard" escorted them all the way to the stairwell.

Leaving the "Nanmu Ballroom," Mike said, "He was a respectable gentleman."

Klein nodded in agreement, and at the same time, he planned to do a divination as soon as he got back to find out where he had met "Mr. Gard" before.

...

The third floor of the "Nanmu Dance Hall".

Odis, puffing on a cigar, said to Enoch, "You can bring people to the dance hall tonight, and I'll cover the expenses."

Enoch bowed happily: "Thank you, Mr. Garr."

He was one of the few people who knew that Mr. Gard was Odis.

After Enoch left, the elegant Ms. Mandy said, "Mr. Garr, Lord Ashburn just sent an invitation yesterday. Well, this is the second time he has sent one. He hopes to invite you to his ball."

Odis smiled and said, "He's still not giving up."

The enormous profits of the "Nanmu Dance Hall" made many people covet it and want to take it for themselves.

Fortunately, this is a gray industry, and nobles and councilors disdain to compete for it. Asiburn was a lord who bought his title, not a powerful nobleman, so his methods are somewhat less respectable.

"Ignore him." Odis took a puff of his cigar and said, "Just say I don't have time to attend. If he dares to use any underhanded tactics, I'll deal with him."

After chatting for a few minutes, Odis decided to go back immediately. He was ready to continue practicing combat and master his newly acquired extraordinary abilities as soon as possible.

Returning to the room with the secondary "teleportation array," Odis closed the door, activated the secondary array, and returned to the basement of the Gar Herbalist's Shop.

After changing his clothes again, he transformed back into the herbalist shop owner.

Odis sat in the lounge chair and suddenly smiled. He hadn't expected to meet "Detective Sherlock" today. He wondered if this "great detective" had realized that he was "The Hermit"? Or if he had noticed that the "Nanmu Dance Hall" business model looked somewhat familiar?

As Odis tried to guess what Klein was thinking, he took out his pipe and stuffed it with tobacco.

After lighting his pipe, he recalled the process of founding the "Nanmu Dance Hall".

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

When Odis traveled through time, she experienced a strange and extraordinary event.

The extraordinary event took place in the northern suburbs of Backlund. The original owner of Odis's body was the youngest son of a small farmer. Although grain prices had been declining in recent years, the farm had not gone bankrupt and was doing reasonably well.

The moment Odis crossed over, all the creatures on the entire farm, as well as several surrounding farms and workshops, turned into mindless monsters. Only Odis remained unaffected and became a "secret seeker."

There are many small workshops in the area that produce industrial products, so most of them are believers in the god of steam and machinery. "Mechanical Heart" immediately intervened and launched an investigation after receiving the report.

The "Mechanical Heart" sensed that this case seemed to be related to certain advanced extraordinary characteristics or sealed artifacts of the "Secret Seeker" or "General Knowledge" pathways, and even the headquarters of the Church of the God of Steam and Machines had inquired about the matter multiple times.

Therefore, they examined Odis for a full two weeks.

Fortunately, their spirituality only sensed this level of connection. If they had realized the connection to the "wilderness of knowledge," the god of steam and machinery would probably have come to talk to Odis himself.

After investigating for more than half a month, "The Mechanical Heart" found no clues. In the end, they had no choice but to take Odis, who had become an Extraordinary, to Backlund and find him a place to stay near the Backlund Mechanical Research Society to continue their observation.

However, Odis, through entering the "Wilderness of Knowledge," has come to understand the reason for that extraordinary event. When he came to this world, he possessed a great deal of knowledge about the past and the stars, which brought great disaster to the surrounding space.

As for why this disaster didn't affect the whole of Backlund? Not only was he unaffected, he also became an extraordinary being.

Odis believed it must be related to the "wilderness of knowledge".

He wasn't entirely sure of the specific reason, but it was the most reasonable guess.

Meanwhile, while studying his own experiences in the "Wilderness of Knowledge," Odis unexpectedly discovered some patterns and new uses of spirituality and magic arrays, which led him to develop a way to cultivate spiritual herbs on a large scale and quickly.

So while cooperating with the investigation by "Mechanical Heart," he studied mystical knowledge under their close surveillance, pretending to have an epiphany, and then began to contract the mountains and fields to grow spiritual herbs.

At first, he was just selling at some mystical gatherings. Later, he got an order to supply spiritual materials to "Mechanical Heart", which enabled him to open a herbal medicine shop.

As a physically healthy young man, once Odis gradually became wealthy, he would naturally patronize the streetwalkers who were everywhere.

But soon, Odis became disillusioned with the sex industry in this world.
