Chapter 89 - Chapter 89 The Art of Explosions

Knock knock!

A sound immediately came from the roof of the car, but fortunately, Gene reminded them, and Cyril and Leona had already raised their guns and fired at the source of the sound from the roof.

Bang!

Odis quickly warned, "Don't rush to fire!"

As Cyril and Leona paused for a moment, two small pieces of wood fell from the roof of the carriage to the back.

Odis had realized that the enemy's fire crows had been used to drive the carriage into this alley.

If you can't open the car door in the alley and can't get out, and if the driver doesn't warn you, and the enemy attacks from the roof, you'll be caught off guard.

Gene had just warned that someone was going to board the vehicle, and the enemy should have heard his warning, but then a sound came from the roof of the vehicle, which made Odis very suspicious!

That's why he reminded the two MI9 members not to fire all their bullets in a hurry.

Upon seeing the two fallen pieces of wood, Odis earned the admiring glances of the other three people.

But now is not the time for praise and pleasantries. Cyril pointed his gun at the roof of the car and said, "Alternate firing."

Leona nodded and quickly loaded bullets into the revolver.

But three or four seconds passed, and the enemy still hadn't boarded the vehicle.

Odis and Cyril both exclaimed simultaneously, "Oh no!"

Cyril quickly took out the bulletproof shield folded under the seat, and Odis stepped forward to help, and the two of them held it above their heads together.

Without needing to be reminded, Leona and Hugh both hid under their shields.

Boom!

A large fireball struck the roof of the car, blowing half of it apart.

The flames spread into the carriage, setting the leather seats ablaze.

Fortunately, it was a MI9 carriage, and there were bulletproof shields inside; otherwise, Odis and the other three would have been injured by the explosion.

But the fire inside the carriage grew larger and larger, causing the four people to cough repeatedly.

"Cover me! Cough cough…" After saying that, Odis took out a very sharp knife from his cloth bag and cut open the back of the carriage.

Cyril and Leona fired at the rooftops on either side while holding up their shields.

The enemies chasing from the rooftops on both sides crouched down or slowed down to avoid them.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Odis used his sharp knife to remove the back wall and doors of the carriage, as well as the burning seats, and threw them off the carriage, thus opening up a much wider field of vision.

At this moment, Cyril and Leona put down their shields and hurriedly loaded bullets into their revolvers. They had emptied their guns while covering Odis.

The pursuers realized this and immediately caught up, opening fire.

However, they fired while in motion, and at a considerable distance, and none of them hit their targets.

At this moment, Odis raised his crossbow again. His metal crossbow had a hit-and-run effect, and he hit another enemy.

At this moment, Cyril said, "The road ahead is blocked!"

Odis glanced back and saw that the other end of the alley was indeed blocked by a carriage.

The carriage they were riding in also slowly came to a stop at this moment.

The pursuers were reduced to only three men. Odis and the other three drew their melee weapons in perfect unison, preparing to take turns providing cover as they climbed onto the rooftop to launch a counterattack.

At this moment, a middle-aged man among the pursuers raised his hand, and flames burst forth around him, quickly condensing into a flock of fire crows that flew toward the carriage.

Cyril immediately turned and scrambled towards the driver's seat: "Hold on a little!"

Clearly, this middle-aged man is the Sequence 7 "arsonist"!

This instantly extinguished any thought of retaliation from Odis and the other three. A Sequence 9 soldier wielding a gun could at least deal with a Sequence 8 enemy.

However, Sequence 8 generally has a hard time dealing with Sequence 7 because most of them have mastered many extraordinary abilities that are difficult to resist at the Sequence 7 level, and have become significantly stronger.

Therefore, in modern times, those starting from Sequence 7 are called "Middle Sequence" Extraordinary Beings, while those below Sequence 7 are "Low Sequence" Extraordinary Beings.

Faced with the opponent's fire crow attack, Odis once again took out a blue axe from his bag.

Bang!

The "Ice Bomb" exploded, halting the fire crows' attack.

Odis and Leona then took turns firing at the "arsonist" with a crossbow and a revolver, trying to prevent him from using his extraordinary abilities again.

Hugh climbed into the driver's seat, pulled a pistol from the badly wounded Gene's holster, and joined in the shooting.

However, among the pursuers, besides the "arsonist," there were two other pursuers who also fired back at Odis and his companions with revolvers.

Odis and Leona were shot one after the other, but because their wounds were not fatal, they continued to shoot.

At this point, Cyril finally killed the driver who was blocking the alleyway and moved the carriage away. Hugh picked up the reins and made the carriage move forward again.

As they turned out of the alley, Cyril jumped into the carriage. First, he and Odis helped carry the badly injured Gene into the carriage, and then Cyril drove the car.

This carriage, which lacked a rear canopy, attracted the attention of many pedestrians.

However, upon seeing the injured people and the revolvers they were holding, the pedestrians hurriedly left, fearing they might be drawn into some inexplicable danger.

Odis pulled open the knight's uniform with its defensive magic array, then pulled open his shirt to check his chest.

The defensive magic circle of this knight's outfit can block bullets fired from a revolver, but it's not a pleasant experience. Being hit by a bullet feels like being hit with a hammer, leaving a bruise.

He had just been shot twice in the chest, and even breathing now felt like a burning pain.

Gene and Leona did not have knight uniforms with defensive magic arrays. Gene was shot in the abdomen. Although he did not die on the spot, he lost his fighting ability. Judging from his complexion, he already showed signs of excessive blood loss.

Leona was shot in the right shoulder, and at this point she could no longer lift her right arm.

Odis took two doses of medicine out of his pocket and tossed one to Leona: "The one in the glass bottle is for internal use, and the one in the porcelain bottle is for external application."

After saying that, he opened another medicine, opened the glass bottle inside, poured it into Gene's mouth, then made him lie down and sprinkled the white powder from the porcelain bottle onto his wounds.

Sure enough, the bleeding stopped quickly.

As they treated the wound, Hugh stood guard with her gun drawn. Suddenly, she said, "They're coming."

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Odis stood up and, sure enough, saw a carriage chasing after them, driven by the very "arsonist"!

Since there was still some distance between them, Odis calmly checked the weapons in his bag. He had only brought two "ice bombs" with him today, and now he only had two red "fire bombs" left.

Only five metal arrows remained, and the remaining sword and cane were of little use in the battle against the "arsonists."

After a moment's thought, Odis said to Cyril, "Turn into the alley ahead!"

The alley ahead is a high and thick wall between two factories.

After entering the alley, Odis, holding a red axe, told Cyril to slow down. When they were about halfway through the alley, the "arsonist" chased them into the alley.

Odis threw the axe with all his might: "Lie down!"

As he spoke, he quickly lay down on the carriage.

The arsonist, thinking it was another extraordinary weapon with ice and snow attacks, quickly raised his hand, and a crimson fireball appeared beside him. He threw it away to prevent the axe from falling to the ground and creating ice, thus avoiding affecting the horse's running.

But the moment the fireball was thrown, the arsonist sensed the danger and nimbly jumped from the driver's seat, landing in the back of the vehicle.

Boom!

The moment the fireball made contact with the axe, it exploded violently, blasting down the courtyard walls on both sides.

Fortunately, there were factories on both sides, and although many people were frightened, no one was injured.

Because it was in a narrow alley, the flames from the explosion spread to both sides, and the carriage behind was immediately engulfed in flames.

The arsonist rolled on the ground in a disheveled state to avoid the shockwave of the explosion. Using his ability to manipulate fire, he was not harmed by the flames. The shattered fragments of his axe were also blocked by the carriage, so he was not injured.

However, the carriage was already engulfed in flames, and the horses were killed instantly. Amidst the fire, the carriage door was pushed open, and one of the arsonist's henchmen, his body ablaze, climbed out of the carriage, which was now just a frame.

But the person was burned to death the moment they landed.

The arsonist had orchestrated many explosions and set many fires, but the violent explosion and flames just now, as well as the burning chassis of the vehicle, still left him somewhat shocked.

He simply couldn't understand what could possibly have such power.

By this time, Odis and his entourage's carriage had turned out of the alley and completely shaken off their pursuers.

Cyril, who was driving, couldn't help but ask, "'Chief,' do you carry large-caliber shells used on steel behemoths with you?"

Odis smiled and said, "Those are the hidden weapons issued by 'Mechanical Heart'."

"'hidden weapon?"

Can that sound really be called a hidden weapon?

After that, there were no more pursuers, and the carriage eventually stopped in front of a fairly large courtyard in the western district, but without a sign.

Soldiers were on guard at the gate. Cyril showed his identification and immediately ordered the soldiers to take the wounded to the hospital.

After the two wounded men left in other carriages, Odis said to Cyril, "Go inside and report. We'll wait for you here."

Cyril was slightly taken aback: "This...this is against the rules."

"Goodbye."

"Wait, wait." Cyril then realized that if the "leader" didn't want to go into MI9, he really couldn't force him to.

After all, this was a high-ranking intelligence officer from "Mechanical Heart," and someone whom Archbishop Horamik Hayden had protected. MI9 could only track him, but could not arrest or interrogate him.

Cyril tried one last time, saying, "I'm mainly worried about the dangers for you outside."

Odis said unhurriedly, "Then you can report faster."

Cyril had no choice but to go in alone. Soon, he and several of his superiors came out to greet him.
